  1. Well, based on the colour of the gas pump and the car, I'd say this is probably 10184 Town Plan :) I like the updates I can spot, though - I've updated a few sets (well, not really, the project is growing out of hand) myself - even if those sets are generally older than the Town Plan - so I like your thinking. Looking forward to seeing the finished thing!
  2. Instructions are up - and linked to on Brickset...
  3. These are very well made and would look great in any modular LEGO store. A couple of the sets are probably a bit off scale, but most of them are easily recognisable. I really like the Orthanc and the Opera House :) Oh, and thank you very much for your kind words! I appreciate that.
  4. Haha, that's very well done. I can hear the music playing in the background!
  5. I'm pretty sure promobricks has got it right when he says it will be a special edition for the store (which is not a regular Brand Store) at the Billund Airport. As it looks a lot like the LEGO House set that is now sold in shops in Billund, I'd be surprised if this is not a similar deal, and that sells for 150 kroner (20€, $25), so this should be about the same - it looks roughly the same size. Which means the prices on eBay and BL are bound to come down quite a bit once it's actually on sale (and certainly to less than $100). The reason it's offered for those crazy prices now is obviously because it's not available to the public yet and the sellers want to cash in on the fact that they're the only ones that have it - for now. I wouldn't be surprised if the box art is final, though - the LEGO House set doesn't have an age statement, either, and most sets here in Europe don't have the number of pieces on the box.
  6. This is nice! I like the front staircase, the lamppost and your furniture. Those are some monster cats though...! :)
  7. Depends on where you're located - if you're in the US you will get it, if you're in Europe you won't. It's not available in Europe until the 15th.
  8. That's a great design. Wonderfully detailed for something so small. Well done!
  9. Congratulations! May I also congratulate you on the placement of the cow, right in the middle of my home town of Bergen, Norway :)
  10. As far as I know, this is not a very accurate description of how it works - new parts and colour changes are two very different things. The designers are allowed a number of colour changes on any model depending on various factors, like how big it is and how much of a profit it's assumed to make. The threshold for getting new parts made is much higher. Just this weekend at the LEGO Fan Weekend in Denmark, Jamie Berard told the participants in his talk on the design process of the Fairground Mixer about how the Creator Expert designer generally won't get new parts for their sets (but they regularly do colour changes), and therefore if they have an idea for a new part which they'd like for a project, they'll go to designers for other themes and lobby for that new part, so maybe they'll get it made.
  11. Very much looking forward to it! There's just the small matter of the LEGO Fan Weekend in Denmark to get done with first, then I'll be on the plane over. Had a great time last year, expect the same this time :)
  12. I just thought it was a bit strange to be concerned with the GWR as long as the builds on display are far from GWR themed. But if the venue is a problem... well, there's not much you can do about that :) Regarding what the clubs allow for, I'll leave that to be answered by some of the Britons on here who are actually members. But do consider either STEAM or The Brick Show - there'll be plenty to see and, not least, plenty of very nice people to talk to.
  13. This is very nice - I really like it. That Charger is pretty sweet, too. I'm definitely no fan of the windscreen solution - but as long as there aren't any suitable glass parts that you can use for it I don't really see how it could be done better. And apart from that, they're both quite brilliant :)
  14. Hi! I'm certainly not British, but if I lived in the UK I would definitely join Brickish. I'm considering doing it anyway - if there's a way to become a member at STEAM (the Great Western Brick Show) I probably will. I went there last year and enjoyed it immensely - and I'll be back in a week and a half. Don't quite know what you mean by "too Great Western"? There's something for every taste there, it's absolutely not just trains. Here's a few pictures from last year. There's also BRICK 2014 in London in late November (that's the show that used to be The LEGO Show in Manchester) and, if you're interested in interacting with fellow builders, AFOLCON which coincides with BRICK 2014. Check out the links - maybe I'll see you at one of the events :)
  15. Yay! I'll be able to catch their show at least twice! :)
  16. This thread is bordering on derailing, but I'll chime in to say that my Empire State Building set was bought in the Empire State Building gift shop. It's the only Architecture set I've bought at an actual location, and therefore owning that one is more special than if I'd bought it online from LEGO. To stay on-topic I'll say that I quite like the two new sets - bear in mind that the images are (very) preliminary and they will probably both look much better when the final artwork is revealed. The Architecture line is one of two current LEGO lines that I keep collecting - the hobby has, for me, evolved into being more and more about MOCing, but I keep coming back to these sets because they're lovely display pieces - and the packaging and presentation is so exquisite.
  17. My answer is: Yes. It took a while before I stepped across that line, but I figured a) it's my LEGO and I'll do what I want with it, and b) what do the LEGO designers do when they design a new set and come across a problem that can't be solved satisfyingly with a part that already exists? Yes, they modify. By chopping and grinding and painting. If anything, blame LEGO! I mean, if they'd made the part I needed I wouldn't need to bring my saw out ;) So here's what I did when I needed a six-wide mudguard piece: MURDER!! by L@go, on Flickr Don't worry, the yellow guy is over it by now. Or maybe he just lives in constant fear that this will happen to him, too. Then again, the black one - or, rather, the two black ones - live on in this car: Ruby Roadster 3 by L@go, on Flickr I've also modified some parts by sanding down edges because I discovered too late that what seemed to work in MLCad didn't actually work in real life - there wasn't enough room for a wheel to turn freely. Now this part has been slimmed down and turned into this, so I wouldn't have had to do it :) And I've chopped some bits off a windscreen because it didn't look right with the whole 'cockpit' surrounded by glass: Gone Overboard 11 by L@go, on Flickr So there - that's my story of sacrilege. For those of you who are considering this: Be warned, once you cross over to our side you might not be able to make it back...
  18. Holy smokes indeed. Whatever you turn to, Carl, I swear it ends up as art. Brilliant builds again!
  19. Searching for them on BrickLink can be much easier than that. Just search for "Octan", then refine the search with the term "sticker" and choose to search in parts only. That will give you all parts that have stickers applied to them with the Octan logo. Then, if you find something you like, you can click on the part, find the set it came in, view the set inventory and voilà - there's the sticker sheet you want.

  21. The (last) LEGO Fan Weekend in Skærbæk, Denmark is less than two weeks away, and normally there's a new D2C set revealed there - last year it was the latest Maersk ship, and the year before the Horizon Express. I wouldn't mind seeing the next modular there... :)
  22. This made me a bit curious - which company are you talking about...?
  23. This will answer your question very quickly - as would a quick look a few topics further down in this same sub-forum :) http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52825 And when you've read that, you might want to read this: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=97921 Good luck :)
  24. Very impressive, Lasse - like the stuff you've done before. Well done again! I have a feeling that I'll probably be able to study this up close in Skærbæk...? :)
  25. Bah, don't be so modest :) Looking forward to the results!
