  1. Thanks a lot for the review, Svelte - now I found it just too hard to resist! And thanks a lot for that tip - I picked up Fallingwater at $90 plus The White House at $45, at a very reasonable priority airmail rate of $22 (to Norway in about a week). Now I can't wait for them to arrive - the only other Architecture set I own so far is the Empire State Building, which I picked up on a visit to NY last September, and these sets are in another league.
  2. I'm lost for words. Making such intricate models out of Lego is just an astonishing feat. Congratulations on a truly outstanding MOC!

    City 2010

I completely agree, that was my first thought exactly when I saw it! Interesting solution - although I, like most other AFOLs, prefer brick-built stuff to stickers.
  4. Thanks for the (early) review! I hadn't owned a Lego advent calendar before last year's, and really enjoyed that - it went really well with the Winter Toy Shop on the shelf, and my friends who visited before Christmas loved seeing it. Won't be buying this one, though, as the whole mini toy thing doesn't appeal to me, and the Castle calendar looks a lot more promising, even for integrating in some kind of city layout. The number of extra parts is interesting, though, and I might pick up a couple of the models on BrickLink later. And the naked Santa is a hilarious - and terribly strange - idea... what where they thinking?
  5. Is this really such a big problem? Where I live, there is no heap of AFOLs lurking around the toy stores, just waiting to dive in when a new shipment of minifigs arrives. But maybe things are different elsewhere?

    City 2010

Big dent in wallet. Dropped by my local Toys'R'Us today, and they'd got all the new City sets. Couldn't resist picking up the TRU exclusive truck and the Public Transport. Got a couple of issues with the truck (or rather with the little shop), but I have to say: The Public Transport has got to be one of the best sets I've built since I came out of my dark ages. Love the colours, especially on the bus, the yellow sports car is better-looking than 8402, and the tram is just brilliant. Expensive - but still highly recommended! Edit: Oh, yeah, Norway is the place, in case anyone was wondering.
  7. Does anybody know this for sure? I just wonder how TLG would distinguish between the different bags when packing the boxes. I'm sure that's some kind of automated procedure, and if TLG still wants each box to contain at least one of each different minifig, the machines need to know how to make that happen...
  8. Yes, the mime's arms are white with black stripes.
  9. I agree that Series 2 is the better one - the weightlifter, the Mexican, the DJ, the skier, the pop star, the lifeguard, the surfer... a bunch of great minifigs. And, let me add, you can't really appreciate how great these figs look until you see them in the fle... uh... plastic. Can't wait to see the first pics of Series 3!
  10. Sorry about that. Norway...
  11. I always found this set tempting, but it appeared just after I originally stopped collecting Lego (bigger sets, anyway). But after I came out of my dark ages I couldn't resist, so I pieced one together off BrickLink, complete with stickers. I love the lighthouse idea - there haven't been too many Lego lighthouses, and every table town should have one :)
  12. I've just got hold of almost the entire Series 2 in my local toy store using the barcodes. I say almost, because for some reason, I managed to get two Egyptians and no witch. Wasn't really planning on getting any of those, as they don't appeal to me, but the prospect of getting the whole series became too tempting... so I picked up the four figs from Series 1 that I was missing, too, although I originally didn't care too much for them. And I got hold of one extra nurse and three extra cheerleaders :) So, my collection is complete thus far - just need to go pick up that witch tomorrow... And having studied them up close, I have to say that while I did like Series 1, I still find Series 2 way more interesting. Bodes well for future releases!
  13. The exterior is very detailed, so much so that it's almost too much! But the interior is simply amazing. A lot of innovative techniques, and an eye for detail that is almost mind-blowing. Very, very well done! LOVE the pool table, the lamp - and the bike shop interior. Wow.
  14. Fantastic building. Love the colour, the details, and of course your entire street. The interior is minimalistic, which works much better than a crowded one in an exclusive fashion store. Great work! Why? I think it looks great. I always envy people who manage to create instantly recognisable details in small scale, with few bricks.
  15. As it says to the left: I'm new! But hopefully still entitled to an opinion Café Corner was more or less what brought me out of my dark ages. Sure, I had bought a little Lego set now and then just to get that good building feeling back, but it felt like a giant leap when I ordered CC - and I was instantly hooked. For me, though, I have to say that Green Grocer is still the favourite - for several reasons, but mainly the rich detailing: The furnished ground floor, the bay windows, the fire escape, the curtains, the clock, the radiator... the list goes on. Market Street I like for the colour. I must say that Fire Brigade disappointed me slightly, but I really can't put my finger on why. Grand Emporium arrived last Friday, and I've had to restrain myself to rip it open and start building, but I just don't have the time - and I know that if I start, I won't be able to stop. Know the feeling? Hopefully, I'll be able to add a modular MOC or two to my street sooner or later.
  16. Hi there, I've been lurking around here for a couple of years and thought it was about time to register - and what better place to write my first words than here. I love your car dealership, so much in fact that I built it myself in MLCad and ordered the bricks to build it off Bricklink - the first version, that is, although I must say that I like the way it's changed now, with the car park and everything. It's a great and very clean design. I built an (almost) full colour palette of cars to fill it with, then added a Crossblade of my own design, and I just love how it looks. Now I just need to build a town around it I've taken a few snapshots of it, but as it is a shameless rip-off of your design I'm a bit cautious when it comes to posting them - although I would naturally give you all credit for it. Anyway - I just wanted to say that I'm really impressed with the design, and I hope you don't mind that I've copied it. It's just a compliment to your building style. Since coming out of my dark ages a couple of years ago I've mainly built official sets and used a couple of building instructions of other people's MOCs, but now I finally feel ready to do some MOCing of my own - and your car dealership is what inspired me. Just need to save a few bucks for a massive BrickLink order, and I'll start building the pharmacy I've already designed in MLCad! Regards L@go
