  1. Impressive work I spent the first 3.40 of the video wondering how you'd made it buoyant and enjoyed the simple elegance of the reveal. You clearly put a lot of planning into the design before building. In the video the fake motors are shown changing speed, is the PF M motor on the same channel as the buggy motors or does Buwizz allow you to link channels?
  2. @Jurss @Doug72 Thanks for the quick replies. It seems the larger diameter worm gear is the answer to my quandary as it seems much easier to build in system than the longer one. Having now sat down with the parts in my hands I have also today learned that the Gear rack housing has chamfered edges at the top to allow closer placement of the gear.
  3. Generic building help needed please. Can you easily mesh Technic 14L gear rack with Technic 2L worm gear? At the moment I'm driving the rack with a PF medium motor and 12 tooth gear. At full extension once the motor power is off the rack drops slightly. Any advice gratefully received
  4. Not being at home to test this with my limited studful pieces is the key to this one perhaps that the 4x1 bricks and 6x1 bricks act as a parallelogram allowing you to pop the 6x1 off the plates one stud at a time?
  5. What a tidy build! If this was a set I'd buy it Does 42056 Porsche contain all the orange parts needed for this?
  6. Are the 2nd and 3rd truck using tyres from 8860? I think that makes them quite largescale. I like the exposed studs and use of stacked plates for sloping surfaces, it gives the models kind of an old school feel to me. A pity, who wouldn't want a crane that worked like 42043 but looked as good as yours
  7. I did try steps but they made the front corner a bit too messy in my eyes, and I really wanted to use the seat panels as corners :) Looking again I am going to change those dark grey pieces to white though. I chose the PF setup as I wanted the lights, drum and fake motor all running as soon as it was switched on and only one IR receiver for driving. There is plenty of room inside still if I wanted to add a gearbox. In fact, looking at it with fresh eyes I realise I could probably have put the servo in the main chassis and made the front axle assembly much shorter which would have aided stiffness. Oh well... I agree. I tend to build sub assemblies separately and then join them up later without any real planning. In this case I started out purely building a drum to see how I would do it. The size of the drum ended up being dictated by the construction of the ends. 10 tread pieces=10 segments! Then later came everything else with the cab being very near the end and drawing on 42043 for internal structure defined the width. Sadly not although it would be amazing to have it actually mix something! I suspect 1x1 tiles would probably drop through the gaps. Also, the drum only rotates in one direction unlike real mixers. It would be easy to add a polarity switch but there is some slack between the worm gear and drum gear and the 16z gear is pushed or pulled fractionally on the axle depending on which way it is driven (not enough for a 1/2 Bush, just enough that it might skip a tooth sometimes) so one way is smoother than the other. Thank you all for your comments, I'm inspired to make my next MOC even better (and possibly with cab steps)
  8. 70734 Master Wu's white dragon?
  9. The news of an official Technic concrete mixer has inspired me to finish this MOC I've been working on for a while and I thought I'd share with the community so here is my take. This started out as an exercise in making a round shape, I had an idea to use pneumatic hose threaded through beam holes but it was pretty bad. This drum is now based on large cogs at each end wrapped in tread links with beams attached. There are also internal cross supports and a central axle so it's quite sturdy. PF elements include: XL motor with diff for drive. Servo motor for virtual pivot steering. M motor powers fake V6 and drum. The gearing down for the drum is by worm gear. PF lights. Manual functions include: Cab tilt and opening doors. Pendular front and rear suspension. Rear concrete chute rotate, tilt and extension. Dual rear tyres (not really a function but missing from my previous posted MOC and I'm quietly pleased I squeezed them in ) And finally of course every thread needs... And... Thanks for reading!
  10. Welcome to Eurobricks Ashfall That looks a nice compact buggy. I would imagine the entire thing is built around the motor and servo. One thing Eurobricks loves is a photo of the underside so we can see how you've squeezed it all in. I see the lights are PF, are you using the IR receiver or one of the third party options? Edit: I now see the IR receiver tucked in by the spare wheel. Very tidy
  11. A man after my own heart! I cannot build except by trial and error so I start with everything neatly sorted in boxes and end up with a big pile of discarded bits which eventually get sorted back into the boxes they started in
  12. Decision made! White windscreen, curved pipes and roof spoiler removed. I like the idea of half beams but don't have the parts and as the MOC is almost done I'm too lazy to place another order for something I'll take apart in a week or two. Looking at the previous photo I posted I don't like the gap the round plate studs create which leads me to another question, is this legal?
  13. Quick question unworthy of it's own thread, straight exhaust pipes and black windscreen frame or curved exhausts and white frame?
  14. When I log in now and click for new content the "condensed/expanded" toggle no longer works. It seems like this may be a problem for for a number of forums using Invision software since Jan 1st 2020. Does anyone know if a patch is in the pipeline as I have very weak scrolling fingers Android OS 9 Samsung internet browser ver 9.4.00.45
  15. I've reached a bit of an impasse with my latest MOC. I want to use a virtual pivot steering system to keep the wheels tight in the arches. The arrangement in the pic gives me the hub movement I want but I'm struggling to connect it to the PF servo output. I think I need a lot less movement than the 90° each way the servo gives. I've tried different ideas and always run into problems, the hubs pointing slightly to one side due to gear teeth not meshing or lots of slack. This is supposed to end up a pendular axle under a fake engine so it cant be too tall i.e. servo pointed down toward red 2l Can anyone see a way to succeed where I have so far failed? I really want to get off the chassis and start the cab! Any and all suggestions gratefully received
  16. Welcome (back) to Eurobricks Alessandro I'd start by finding some space in your house, more than you think. You'll need it for displaying models if that's what you want or storing parts if you prefer building and rebuilding. Good light and a comfy seat are important. I see you like classic space so maybe a next step would be buying some of the sets you remember as a kid if budget allows. I think nostalgia plays a part for most AFOLs. If the budget is tighter consider digital building. LDD is simple to use but probably dying so jump straight in with Stud.io or similar. Lots of people post great digital only builds on here. Then have a think about what appeals. Do you want a big town (or moonbase) on display? City sets and modulars to start. Is it the actual building process you enjoy? Read reviews for sets with interesting build techniques. What to create your own models? Get all your bricks together and see what you can make! At some point you will want extra bricks. Bricklink is loved by most and not broken yet but there are other sources too, TLG, Ebay, second hand etc. Just enjoy it! I find it a great way to unwind even if I'm tearing down half a Technic MOC just to change a 5L beam to a 7L And finally, more room than you think
  17. An interesting choice of subject. Not being familiar with Greek roads is the orange box a speed camera or an emergency phone? (useful for the guy in the VW camper ) I feel sorry for the driver of that tiny red car surrounded by all those huge trucks.
  18. It's a minifig accessory with a peg on the back for the hands. I think I had some in a Prince of Persia set, 7569 Desert Attack?
  19. Wasn't the actual cube always pink? I've merely dabbled in the Portal universe so maybe I missed coloured ones.
  20. So many great building techniques in such a small chassis, nice work Where does the PF IR receiver for the cab sit? Your solution of using rubber bumpers as suspension has inspired me to revisit one of my own stalled MOCs with a narrow rear axle, thank you.
  21. Ah, the age old dilemma of how to sort bricks. I mainly build Technic so for me part function is more important than colour but I can imagine that for modulars, big landscapes and greebling it could be better to have colours. Whichever way you sorted 600,000 (!) bricks I would imagine you need to sub divide by type. 60 separate colours is still 10,000 bricks in each bin to hunt through. @GeorgeMendes Do you have pics? I get a strange sense of rightness from nicely sorted Lego
  22. As @Rustinidiel says the thicker one is this Pneumatic hose cut to length The thinner is something like This rigid hose So yes they are Lego pieces. The shape probably comes from a stiff wire through the middle or heating and bending.
  23. When I think of car crushing I immediately think of the baler type. How about mini LAs to activate it?
  24. Perhaps it was this exact deal posted in March 2017 that bankrupted them? Curse all of you for buying Lego at less than full RRP (and sometimes more than RRP from my memories of TRU)
  25. Does anyone remember seeing a brick built technic figure? IIRC it was in a construction vehicle type thread so the fig had a hard hat. Probably posted in the last 12 months. I've tried searching but it's either too vague or too specific. Any help gratefully received
