Virtual Lego and Renders should be stated on MOCs?
dr_spock replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't normally build with LDD unless I am planning to share the design or co-ordinating a group project build. I find that I can build faster with an idea in my head and real bricks. LDD seems like an unnecessary extra step if I am doing my own thing. MOD is already used for "MODifications". Most people here use "LDD" in the subject line if they are showing a virtual creation. -
You're welcome. Not sure how much snow Missouri gets. If you do build it, maybe we can do a plow vs plow video in real snow.

Thanks everyone. It seems everybody like to be warm and comfy.

Awesome. Congratulations! -
You should get a full-spectrum lamp for your LEGO space
dr_spock replied to 62Bricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have full spectrum fluorescent tubes for my aquarium. They are in the 8000K color temperature range. They bring out the colors in the fishes. My kitchen plants grow lights are 6500K. I prefer around 5000K. Philips make compact fluorescent bulbs in that range. 3000K is too much of a yellow cast when taking pictures. -
1677 pieces. I broke one of the 2x4 bley when I used two brick separators to separate two stacked on top of each other.

Probably not too hard to get a GP15 out of it. It seems radiator grills are different design and location. I guess it depends if that North America style windshield can be used for other sets. Making a new mold is not cheap and LEGO designers would need a good business case.

Nice work. I like your use of those corner panels for the chute. Regarding your rear door, the prototype does have one. No need to change your model. Thanks for sharing the LXF file. It renders pretty good.

Rehash of this?

Here is a video of one going through some switches after it picks up a snowplow car. You can see where it bends in the curve.

Is it like the old sawfish?

Download the instructions. Nothing all that unique. You can get creative and substitute parts or colors to keep costs down.

I rebuilt my LEGO Friends rotary snow plow into something a little less girly. Rotary Snow Plow by dr_spock_888, on Flickr How does it compare with the LEGO 4533 Train Track Snow Remover? Disclosure: I built the 4533 with parts from my collection following LEGO instructions. plow vs plow by dr_spock_888, on Flickr MOC: Plow driver rides in comfort inside the heated cab. 4533: Plow driver has to be properly dressed for the snowy operating conditions. (Original set has driver in summer work clothes.) MOC: Exhaust stack behind cab. 4533: Exhaust stack pointed at plow driver. How do they perform? Lets find out in the battle of the snow plows: Which one would you rather be working in? Cheers.

Awesome. The Death Star won't stand a chance against this. Flowers are really a nice peaceful touch.

Thanks everyone. Nice. I can see some Maesrsk in it like the exhaust stack, the front and back end platforms and steps. I was looking at the Maesrsk instructions before for something to do with the other blue train base. Cool. That's some heavy MOD. The changed cab and fuel tank give it a totally different feel. Reminds me of the 10133 BNSF set. Since you removed the train doors, I am not sure if you need to keep the cab's rear vertical handrails. Mirrors are a nice touch.

Shoot, I forgot 60052 Cargo Train on my previous list. Don't worry. For 30 years I had only the 7710 Push Train. I didn't buy another train until Horizon Express came out. I bought the Lone Ranger set on sale too. I liked the engine but ended up parting it for MOCs.

Excellent work. Do you have a close up video of the mechanism working?

Virtual Lego and Renders should be stated on MOCs?
dr_spock replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Speaking of under the Christmas tree, some times a part like the bauble doesn't appear to exist in the LEGO Digital Designer program. So a render is not possible. Had to buy the real part and take a picture. The other easier thing with rendering is you don't have to be a good photographer. ldd vs render vs photo by dr_spock_888, on Flickr -
To open or not to open...

Good decision. Enjoy your family time.
