  1. Hoth Pursuit Just his luck to chased by the one Snow Trooper in the Empire who is actually accurate with a Blaster. As Vader would say, "There is no escape for you now." Day 043 of 365: Hoth Pursuit by dr_spock_888, on Flickr ==================== BrickSev, LOL. That's a funny one. I think yours could also be called Flaming Butt.
  2. What do you do a for a living? Do you have a way to measure forces on axles and connectors? It might be fun to test out which is "stronger" by sacrificing some LEGO.
  3. Couldn't you use a shorter axle and mount the motor directly to your wall of Technic bricks with a couple pins?
  4. Starts on the Feb. 14th, I think. http://www.toyfairny.com/
  5. Good stuff. She is cute running under the layout.
  6. Congratulations.
  7. Looks pretty good so far with the blue, yellow, bley colour scheme. The 24x6 train base plate has 3 holes for the pin on the wheel bogie plate. If you move your bogies to the second hole, you'll get a small 2 stud space to add some undercarriage detail. That would also provide more space between the cars for you to add a diaphram to the second car. If you're not powering your train with train motors, you can make the bogies shorter. That would also leave more space underneath. Using a 28x6 train base plate will also give you more space but additional costs. Example: The engine on the left has the bogie plate connect to hole #2. The dummy engine on the right has shorter bogies with 2 studs between wheels instead of 3. It is not using a train base plate. Amtrak AEM-7AC pulling Cabbage by dr_spock_888, on Flickr
  8. Thanks for the review. I think I prefer the 6242 Soldiers Fort from 2009. Although it costed more than this one. That one the hoist had an actual hook and more string. Also it has a monkey but no girl.
  9. Cage Grudge Match - Jar Jar Binks vs New and Improved Anakin "Hit him with the chair, come on, hit him with the chair!" Day 042 of 365: Cage Grudge Match by dr_spock_888, on Flickr
  10. Thank you for the review. It looks like a must get set for me. Interesting the tree is made with brown Technic connectors and axles. The new alligator is going to clash with my old alligators.
  11. My local Target is cleared except for a few boxes of Chima and Ninjago.
  12. Awesome. LEGO the company is good that way.
  13. Nice work. I think your engine's rear bogie might hit the fuel tank in the curves. I think using train base and bogie plates allow for a stronger connection. I find 2x2 and 4x4 turntables can pop off in a crash. Useful if you have kids who enjoys crashing trains... PF train motor call pull quite a bit. My little AEM-AC7 engine with a single PF train motor can pull 6 passenger cars and 1 engine on level track and through curves.
  14. I use a pair of cheap white glove inserts to cover my hands. Since you have oily fingers even after washing, wear the gloves, clean the LEGO with a microfiber cloth and then take the picture.
  15. Turned into this? PRR B1 by dr_spock_888, on Flickr
  16. Is this the lizard man? lizard man habitat by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Take a look inside the helmet. There should be a round hole that connected to the stud on the head. See if it is perfectly round and there is no plastic deformed. Compare it to a hair piece or other head accessory you may have. Check that there isn't something else stuck in the hole too. If the hole is malformed, you could try shaving some material with a sharp hobby knife like X-Acto to make it fit the stud on the head.
  17. MOD it to your heart's contend. I do that pretty much with my sets. There is always something to tweak to my personal tastes.
  18. Sales tax is 6.25% in Massasschusetts (used to be 5% when I lived there). LEGO pricing appears to 20%-30% less than Canadian pricing. There are 3 LEGO stores plus a LDC down there if I recall. You'll have to do the exchange rate conversion math and see how it turn out compared to buying in your province. I got my sister to buy 8258 for me and she didn't have to pay duty. Your mileage may vary.
  19. You may want to read through this thread by LEGO Historian -> www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=83307 It appears that LEGO took away the Samsonite USA license back in the early 1970s.
  20. Neat idea. I would add a little sauce in the cup area to catch any drips so that I don't have to wash the LEGO too.
  21. Looks like this part: Nice work. Good use of the Technic parts.
  22. They all look great. The stickers help too. I really like your "herd". I think the stock cars seem empty without animals.
  23. Good review. I think you may have to return the RA tag for missing the poll. How well does it tow another Technic vehicle? I find the rear wheels spacing look off compared to the front wheels. I would have preferred blue seats in the cab. Nothing that can't be easily MOD by someone not limited to designing to a price point.
  24. Day 040 of 365: Retreat in Battle by dr_spock_888, on Flickr I had to try a what if. What if Star Wars took place in feudal Japan. "Shogun Annie. Missa no plan retreat in the battle of Naboo." "You have failed me for the last time, Samurai Jar Jar."
