6th Anniversary REVIEW: 31015 Emerald Express
dr_spock replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I used these parts to joint the engine and the tender due to the height difference. I'm afraid I don't have the train any longer. I gave it to my young nephew who lives in another city. Pretty much all the pieces used are visible in the photo. All current parts, nothing rare. Hope that helps. Thank you. -
I think having knees would make them taller. Maybe there is some corporate design height limit. Not a mech but a knight with knees. Took a bit longer to straighten the legs with an extra joint to adjust from sitting position.

Where to buy Parts
dr_spock replied to Beck's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Watch out for shipping charges, it can easily add up if you order from multiple stores. -

Very impressive going around the curve. How do you couple the cars?

MOC: Kansas City & Westport Horse Railroad Car 1870
dr_spock replied to eurotrash's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Nice work. You beat me to it. I was planning a horse drawn trolley too. I think some roof overhang and taper at the rear wouldn't hurt. It'll give symmetry with the front and not have that car chopped in half abrupt look. -
You can adapt model railroading DCC to LEGO trains. Some AFOLs already do that. Using plastic train tracks and batteries remove the chance of killing yourself by electrocution. Except maybe when recharging the batteries but you can let your parents do that as the battery boxes and covers are screwed down.

Be our special dinner guest. This is a quick build for my LEGO 365 photo a day project. I missed out on the Islanders sets back in 1994. The figs came from CMF. Day 060 of 365: Islanders Hospitality by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Special bath salts and seasoning included with overnight stay.

I need Lego shavings for project, but how?
dr_spock replied to Cloveapple's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
You could use a chisel on large piece held by a vise secured to a table. I believe you can get chisel blades for X-Acto if you don't have regular chisel. A small wood plane could probably work too. You could shave a 2x10 or 2x8. If you're using an X-Acto knife, I think a 1x8 or 1x10 plate would be easier to shave and provide a enough space to grip with fingers and slide blade away from body and fingers... Maybe better to hold the piece with a vise. -
PF and plastic tracks are the way to go if you have costs concerns and not into Do-It-Yourself. 9V motors and 9V rails are out production. You would be dependent on second hand market supply and demand pricing. There are 3rd party rails, availability can be dependent on how often production runs and stock.

Thanks again CopMike. -
Funny vignette. Nice work on the water and rocks.

Thank you all for your kind words. I am not sure how many pieces I used. I didn't count as I was rushing to get it done for my LEGO 365 photo a day project on flickr.

That's a British Pacer Railcar MOC and its motorization. Here's the topic on it. -> http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=103124 -
Presenting my whimsical build for the Friends Brick food cart or truck challenge. It's an All Terrain Food Truck with BBQ. This baby can bring food sales to any location such as remote forest. It can even do tuna salad to the tundra, desert to the dessert. It has go-anywhere independent quad tracks. Day 058 of 365: All Terrain Food Truck with BBQ by dr_spock_888, on Flickr The top comes off for play. There is a mini cooktop and countertop. Cook up some juicy chicken drumsticks on the charcoal BBQ if your customers don't like Gungan meat (which tastes like chicken).

Great cave you got there. The skull work is very nice.

That safe was disappointing. Close it up quick and encase it in concrete.

There may be something wrong with that M-motor. Do you have another motor to test or even the Power Function LEDs? -
