How do you control your spending & what do you collect
dr_spock replied to Seeky's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Not having money to spend helps control my spending. I limit my collecting to sets I really want versus being complete in a theme's particular offering. -
42009 Owners ... Speak Up!

Inventory on Brickset and BrickLink show only one 32L axle. Some people probably got lucky due to a packaging error at the factory. -
I've used glue stick for home made "sticker" many years ago. I had problems with missing spots with the glue stick on large ones. The color glue stick is a good idea.

Cool. Like a ferris wheel for trains.

Thanks. He is using a BrickArms HCSR to make the shot which should be more accurate than the standard issue E-11 blaster rifle. I hear the E-11 has too much recoil.

You can also send the seller an email asking for a quote with shipping before committing to the BrickLink order. It's more work and slow down the process for instant gratification. Also depending on your country you could be hit with import duties if buying internationally from certain countries and not others (depending on trade agreements and stuff). Do your homework or pay more.

I missed the BBB. But I think I like it more because of the figs (redcoats) and monkey.

Upgrading Modifying current pirate 2015 buildings
dr_spock replied to Sauerteig's topic in LEGO Pirates
Welcome to Eurobricks. If you can find the parts you need on the Pick A Brick wall at the local LEGO Store, then that would be the least expensive way to get new parts in decent amounts. -
The Elves look fabulous. There may be great danger of a duck bill creature attack.

Interesting tutorial. Can it be used for light sabers and engine glow? I agree it is much better when you can get it right out of camera versus fixing it in post processing. If you're pressed for time like doing a photo a day and practically a MOC a day project, then it is time you can use to plan your next day's shoot and build. There are some effects where it might be easier on the computer. I guess the key is to use the most efficient tool for your situation and skill level.

Lego 8258 steering
dr_spock replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
When the wheel mounts hit the frame. -
That seems correct. Back in the 1980s I built a helicopter for my fire station which didn't come with one and it didn't feel complete without one. I used bricks from the 555 Basic Set. What child wouldn't want to prototype a Mi-8 helicopter on a flat car?
-
Ok. Maybe this one. The prototype was never in red back then but LEGO didn't have orange back then either (if I recall).

What the color change in the Green baseplates?
dr_spock replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Response from LEGO:By Jordan - Core Product Specialist, Consumer Services, March 11, 2015 You are correct in noticing the color difference between the old and new Green Baseplate. I will make sure to discuss the impact of this change with the designers. It is almost like they decided to do the color change after all the marketing material and photos have been done in the previous green color. Or someone set the color mixer to the wrong color during the production run (assuming they mix the colors on the fly). Or disconnect between marketing and product, that could happen in companies getting too big and each part is becoming a silo and don't talk to each other. You may get better results if you email the CEO directly. -
Jangbricks normally doesn't show his face. But when he did, I think he had to tell some people off. (youtube.com/watch?v=vyCu1m3nBLE) "As always, RUDE comments about how I look "tired" or "sick" or what not are NOT welcome. I look like what I look like. Everybody looks like what they look like. Treat people how you would like to be treated, yourself."

Imperial Sniper Day 071 of 365: Imperial Sniper by dr_spock_888, on Flickr The reason The Brothers Brick servers went down was I/O error--Idiotic Operator. Day 069 of 365: Server Rack Down by dr_spock_888, on Flickr ================= That's nice. She can have copy of the photo if she'd like. Thanks again. I was going to make a MSE-6 mouse droid but ended up with a "probe" droid.

[MOC] Death Star trench run - "Look at the size of that thing"
dr_spock replied to BHs's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Good work. It is nice to see a take on a different angle of the trench. Yup, there has been a few trench MOCs. Someone even dug up a 2012 trench MOC thread the other day.- 13 replies
