  1. Welcome to EB, Mathieu! Happy building once you're back to it, and happy forum-using in the meantime!
  2. I think the issue is that your topic text is brief, and then most of the page is dominated by the 5 missing Flickr images in your signature so it looks like you were perhaps posting some concept art or something that is missing. On topic, I don't think Borg Tower is very interesting (visually), but Yang Tavern or a proper royal castle could be a lot of fun!
  3. Lovely, and definitely something different from the typical landing pad MOC! The rock/crystal formations are a nice touch, too. I would like to see more of this planet with the Classic Space technology integrated.
  4. This is amazing. You've certainly captured the look, but also working in so many features is incredible. I really like the luggage rack for the back and the opening roof. Supported!
  5. Welcome to EB, 2018sunny! Happy building (and collecting)!
  6. Thanks for the clarification - you asked 1 question, but still with a lot of different scenarios. Personally, I don't mind custom minifig accessories since that really just adds to the aesthetic appeal and Lego puts out new accessories all the time (like you said, would be no surprise to get one for a single set these days), but when it comes to structural/brick elements I don't like to see that as much. I enjoy seeing clever solutions within the confines of the elements available, and if instead of searching for that clever solution folks just make a custom piece (often with limited utility outside of that one function), why not just 3D print the whole thing and skip Lego altogether. But, again, that's personal opinion, and it's not like I get upset with someone doing that... I'm just less impressed with that part of the build and it is what it is. Doesn't personally affect me, so who cares? Since this is apparently in relation to your own MOC, all I can say is just post it. Let people take a look and give their opinions if you want them. Folks post WIP topics all the time and get great feedback. If you're 99.9% done and just wondering about this one bit, put it out there and ask the question. Maybe someone has a clever solution using genuine Lego that hadn't occurred to you. Maybe people will laud the genuine need for that specialized component. You won't know until you put it out there, and I (personally) don't think it's worth spending time agonizing over it when it's a catch-22 at this point (post it so we see what you mean and can give meaningful feedback, or never post it because you want the feedback first that you can't get without it being seen). As Bartybum said, though- just enjoy the building, regardless!
  7. Hi Carlos - welcome to EB! There is no official Plants vs. Zombies Lego sets, though fans have built their own (which is part of the fun of Lego in the first place). Here's the fan proposal for an official set from a few years ago: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/0426b115-61a4-4912-b1e6-58c07dfe56a1 The closest thing that's actually been released that I know of is a series of sets made by K'nex, but they don't look particularly well designed to me.
  8. Well, for round 6,000 on this topic, I'll just give my super-succinct opinion: I'm OK with SBrick and other custom controllers that just interface with the rest of the official Lego and very simple custom stuff like different lengths of flextube, but don't care for custom/non-Lego parts beyond that. Go for it if you want to, but I just consider it building with some Lego Technic, rather than Lego Technic building.
  9. Hi Sbm1 - welcome to EB! I'm sure there are plenty of folks here that can give you some ideas and share their layouts. Can you post larger images so we can get a better look at what you have going on there? Eurobricks is not for hosting images. That small 100k of local storage is for your profile picture and potentially small images/icons used in your board signature. To post images in topics/comments, you want to use a 3rd party host like Flickr and deep-link the images. Here's a tutorial on that: The good news is that there's no right or wrong about it- just what you like. What is your ultimate vision for you layout? Do you want a small town or suburban feel to it, or a big urban city with skyscrapers and whatnot? And what scale are you thinking? More along the general Creator line size like some of the houses they've released, or larger like the Modular Buildings? Regardless, I think one trap people fall into is that they pick up a few awesome sets that look great (like your deep sea explorer ship there) that really don't work with their layout but then feel like they have to work it in somewhere. Same with vehicles- if they came with a larger set or were picked up separately as fun little builds, they get shoved into the layout even if they stick out like a sore thumb. I think that should be avoided. I mean, still get the sets and enjoy them, but if they don't fit what you're trying to do with the layout, just put them somewhere else to admire and keep your layout uncluttered. Then, even if you don't have that much going on yet, at least what is there is clean and coherent, and I think that makes it easier to envision what the next step is that you want to tackle.
  10. Very nice. Looks like it could be a set itself (especially without the parts limitations of being an alternate build). Alternates are always fun, and great to see them done well.
  11. Welcome to EB, Inyong! Looking forward to seeing some of your MOCs. Happy building!
  12. Don't assume she will be displaying it in such a way that both corners won't be visible. But, assuming that is the case... ... I don't agree with this. There is definitely a height disparity but I think it's so much lower that it actually makes the PC look more grand. However, the barber shop side is a good bit higher than the Brick Bank so that side doesn't look quite as nice. I do think Assembly Square would look good between them if you've got the space and the budget. Of course, all of this comes down to personal preference anyway! If you really want to get into it, grab the LXF files for the modulars you're interested in and play with the arrangement of them digitally.
  13. Welcome to EB, Michael! Happy building!
  14. My first thought is Parisian Restaurant with the stairs on the side with Brick Bank - decent transition between the height difference between PC and BB. If retail availability is not an issue, Pet Shop might work between them, too. I still haven't built my copy of BB otherwise I'd do a little shuffling with the physical sets and let you know... maybe I'll break it out and start on it now.
  15. Competitor's sets can be discussed in the appropriate forum, but if you're actually talking about knock-off/bootleg sets that steal Lego's IP, that is not allowed. See here:
  16. I might be misreading what you're asking, but I believe set 7710 has 2 versions of the instructions (and 2 slightly different versions of the included stickers sheets), as well as including building instructions for both the train show in the catalog and on the box, as well as an alternate build that has open carriages. Sounds like that's not quite what you're after which I assume is different versions meaning some of the steps are different or the instruction manual is formatted differently for building the same model... so probably one that has both 4.5v and 12v instructions or something like that as bombcar alluded to, and I don't know which that may be if that is the case!
  17. Welcome to EB, marc! Looking forward to seeing some of your creations. Happy building!
  18. Very nice - great use of parts throughout. I like the cafe sign a lot. A little concerned that some of the items aren't practical in real bricks, but they do look great here!
  19. Like you said, Lego isn't always accurate with these things, but maybe you could squeeze in an offset projector on either side at the back of the entrance structure. Of course, Lego is also a bit ambiguous about what time period the modulars are actually in, so perhaps your drive-in is retro-styled but the screen is actually a giant LED display!
  20. That's lovely! It's a bit small for a drive-in, but I get where you were going with keeping it in-scale with the Modulars. Your color scheme is great, and nice use of the curved tiles on the sign. The bit of 50s flair on the sides of the screen is a really nice touch as well. And I love that little green car! I think the only thing missing (unless it's there and just not pictured) that should be added is the actual projector for the movie.
  21. Really great, especially retaining the ability to swing the walls open (and potentially add on more reimagined Classic Castle sets - I always loved the proto-modular feature they had!). I agree that the timber section in the back could be a bit more pronounced and bigger, though it does look right as just a feature of the wall when it's opened up... so not quite sure which way I'd have gone with that. The bit of groundwork you have included along with the drawbridge over the water is lovely. Nicely done!
  22. Welcome to EB, and back to Lego, debriel! You don't have to be 100% into it all the time; I think a lot of people on here ebb and flow with Lego to some degree as "real life" interferes. Happy building, virtual or otherwise!
  23. Per the forum rules, direct promotion (basically) is not allowed. If you want to start a topic featuring your MOC, keeping in the spirit of the forums and sharing your creation for purposes of inspiration, feedback, and general discussion, and then mention that it's also on Ideas and include a link for anyone that wants to support it, that's fine. If you start a topic that is, "Here's a project I just put up on Ideas - please support!" - that's not what the site is for and generally frowned upon. My personal feelings are the same; if you've built something that's nice enough for people to admire and be inspired by and has any chance of achieving 10K votes, then it'll get votes on its own merits and you don't need to push it any more than mentioning the Ideas link. So... please feel free to share your creations - whether they're on Ideas or not - but don't spam us begging for votes with a sparse, poorly-detailed topic that's really just an ad!
  24. Wow - the whole thing is great. I especially like the pistols used in the pantographs and the overall shaping of the engine. Lovely color scheme, too. Nice build!
  25. Reminds me of some of the old-school Model Team sets - the bright engine in particular. Nice build.
