Almost went all in on FF14, but left it where the beta ended. (maybe for the better) Instantly recognisable though, nice build! Also if anyone knows about Nausicaä, that story also has bird mounts.

Thanks guys!! I am so stoked that it came to a creation just brainstorming a bit.... I have had a major lack of inspiration when building things, and now that i joined guilds of historica, ideas start to pop! Thank you all for that!

Here's my entry: Mount up! - Necropede
-
Pictured: Lord Mortis riding his Necropede to war... Unlike most of the other mounts found in historica, necropedes are not born, but created by dark necromancer magic. Being able to twist magic, the living, and undead into a creature that both serves as a mount, and if need be, can fight. It is a spell known only by the most skilled necromancers. These mounts are just as diverse as they are rare, since they require live and dead bodyparts to assemble. Warriors of nocturnus are only awarded these kind of mounts for exceptional feats performed on the battlefield, since building one is a hard and time consuming buisness. This particular necropede has two undead torsos that think independantly of eachother, but will fight and ride together. This is also one of the strong points of this particular necropede, since it has two heads, both need to be killed before the mount will perish. (One headed specimens are also known, but are not that common due to their lack of life redundancy) Because of the undead nature of this creature, it does not require food for extended periods of time, but it will need flesh to upkeep it's undead body, or it will wither away. One of the main reasons these mounts are used for battle is that food is obundant after the battle has been fought, and if need be, they can fight and aid their rider. In that role, they are quite fearsome, being able to wield any handweapon a humanoid can carry, plus the poisonous stinger at their rear. Their loyalty is bound by the spell of the necromancer, and it can only be given to one person alone. If that person dies, the necropede also dies because the bond becomes undone. This is both a blessing and a curse for the rider, even though this mount is more usefull than a horse, it does make the rider a primary target on the battlefield. ----------------- Well i hope you liked my build... I was not planning on entering this competition, but messing around with a few minifig legs i got this idea. At first i thought it would not be good enough, but eventually it grew on me, so i made a base and entered!

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Jorrith replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thank you all for your kind words! So many replies! Personally i deem this moc still a WIP, since one side still has to be built. I just tried to make it complete enough so i could make my introduction. Originally started this moc a few weeks ago to try to build a partial vampire castle, and used this build as an exercize to go as 3D as possible on a large baseplate, trying out some building techniques. My building skills still need improvement, just as my photography skills, so i figured joining the nocturnus guild might be a good idea. Also the darkside has the best cookies. I gracefully accept your offer of friendship, how can i refuse the son of the greatest vampire that ever lived? I shall create some minions to help the cause and will join shortly. -
Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Jorrith replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Let me introduce myself trough a little story that happened not so long ago in nocturnus.... Somewhere in the mountains to the west of port wrath there lays an abandoned castle. Even though it resides in werewolf and mummie territory, none of both tribes have taken claim of the castle, and the land surrounding it. Might it be that there is something about this castle? Well, time went by, and not many nocturnians know of this castle as of today. But some do know about it's presence, and treasures within. Only this time it is visited by a avalonian thief, looking for treasure... Thief: Hmm, this place has been overrun with nature for decades! I sure hope that drunk guy in Albion was telling the truth about finding treasure here... The guy told me to look downstairs for treasure, so i guess there must me something beneath this... Only it is to bright during the day to look inside. No matter, with my trusty mace at my side i will look what's beneath.... (and look for a torch) Thief: That's odd, who bricks a passageway shut for all eternity? Probably to hide something they don't want found, and i recon it is worth alot! No matter, i will smash trough this wall with ease! Thief: Aha! it is a underground room bricked off! This might be worth looking into... As the avalonian thief looks around the room, it becomes apparent to him that this room is a crypt of some kind. Downstairs there seems to be something that resembles a coffin... Unaware that this room might have been sealed off for a reason, he descends down the stairs. Looks like an important person died here, the Thief mumbled while he went down the stairs.... Who else would have guards in the afterlife? Let's have a look at the stiff.... HMMMMPH!!! Thief: Well, you ain't so handsome like you used to be, but i recon you won't be missing that fancy dragon necklace of yours too... Then suddenly.... The corpse jumps up and bites the thieves neck! The thieve manages to escape the grips of the vampire, only to see that the dead skeleton in the coffin has has begun to come to life.... Lord Mortis: Who are you, foolish mortal to dusturb my slumber? Thief: This cannot be! Lord Mortis: You awakened me, mortal, and you will die doing so unless you are willing to serve me forever! In the meanwhile this converstation takes place, the vampire's body rejuvinates from the fresh blood it has leeched of the thieve's body. Lord Mortis: Speak up you fool! I will grant you eternal life if you serve me, of a slow death if you refuse! Thief: I will not bound myself to an eterinty of slavery! Do with me as you must, i shall not be a slave! Lord Mortis: Very well then, i will feast upon your flesh and find others to serve me. For now, prepare to die! Lord mortis has been awakened after 500 years of slumber,,,, The current affairs of Historica unknown to him, he leaves the castle that once was his home, set to find other vampires in nocturnus. Well hello, and i hope i made a proper introduction! Some other pics of the build: Some background history: Lord Mortis has been one of the old vampires in Nocturnus, but after centuries of bloody gore and bloodlust even those things can get boring to the most bloodlusty vampire. Lord Mortis deceided then to rest, untill the time came that life would be worth taking again. Unfortunatly a thief has caused his awakening, but nocturnus needs fresh blood, and somehow Mortis knows this. -
Very recognisable! If they were orcs, this scene could be right outside of oggrimmar!

I think you did ok getting the 4512 set. It looks like a good decent cargo train set, i still need to get one, but it's on the wanted list. :) Also i agree on the 4561 set, i have bought a incomplete set with alot of rails for a good price, but the train motor was used for a dutch type shunting engine since i did not like the modern look of this set at all.
