That car is awesome! Must have been quite difficult to get it 7 studs wide, but it looks great!- 36 replies

Loved this set so much, that when i saw a second set for 20 euro's, i ordered it in a heartbeat! I do like what you did with the wheelbase, the rear wheels look like they are better placed compared to the original. Also looked at your batmobile, and yes there is some resembelance to the build... (Nicely done btw) I like the idea of the icecream truck, i allready can see a abominable snowman as a driver, and a zombie icecream vendor, heck yeah! Go for it! @ Pig: Wow, that's a pretty cool herse!

One of the things i liked about the vampire herse was that it is so over the top that it's almost comical. Your creation is lacking that, and sorry to say it looks a bit bland to me. One funny thing tho... This was my first set too after almost 25 years. :) I totally agree on the exaust pipes, and i've also made some modifications to my herse: Changed the front of the car, removed the moonstone, added another grille, enlarged the motor, fixed the wobbly vampire teeth in the front. Fixed the loose exaust pipes, removed the play feature from the car, lowered the rear a bit and closed the floor of the coffin compartment I also didn't like the rear, so i've made a door more fitting to a herse. Also note the licence plate. :)

Looks good, i like it very much!

Love the bit sinister look of it, it would definatly fit into a dark farytale. The smashed build pic brings back memories too... older sister smashing up my lego builds for some reason i cannot remember... Well it's way better than getting chased by an angry sister with a kitchen knife... (me and my older sisters did not get along that well in our youth, but that passed when we became adults)

This is just awesome! Nicely built, and it could just as well be a real terrarium! As a owner of a aquarium and a water cooled pc, i do have a word of advice tho.... I hope you have some distilled water running there with somekind of bacteria killer in it... or it will gunk up with life after a while. That would be a real shame of the bricks you used to build this.

Best parts pack? Helm`s Deep or the new King`s Castle?
Jorrith replied to Artifex's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I've purchased both for parts, and i think helm's deep has the most usefull bricks in both sets. The only reason why i got the castle was for the gate, and some doors, but there are also other usefull pieces in the set aswell. The castle has lots of big panels, if that is what you are looking for, then go for it. Helm's deep has alot of bricks, and a few panels. Minifig wise, both are nice, but i really don't care about them because i bought both sets to build a vampire castle. -
Review Monster Fighters 9468 Vampyre Castle
Jorrith replied to Artanis I's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thank you both, but i recon it's time to start a new thread instead of discussing it in this review thread. (allthough very pleasant, it's a bit offtopic) Today i have done some work to the castle, but basicly i'm starting from scratch all over. I don't have enough bricks to build a full grey plate so i'm taking the modular route, like TLG builds its castles... Building the gate first, and the rest will follow... but that will be for the WIP topic.. I'll let you know when i have started it Andy D. -
Wow! i am also trying to build a vampire castle, so when i saw the title i just had to look! No castle yet, but the landscaping is just bricking awesome! Also i really like how you built the haunted house into the scenery, that's perfectly done!

Review Monster Fighters 9468 Vampyre Castle
Jorrith replied to Artanis I's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Partially, since the castle doesnt have much bricks in the set. I will need to get another castle for parts though. For other parts i've bought some LOTR/Hobbit sets, and the kingdoms 70404 kings castle. (mainly for the doors and gate) The LOTR sets 9472 attack on weathertop and 9474 the battle for helms deep give nice bricks for rockscaping, some arches, and those horses in 9474 are just perfect for a horse powered herse. Helm's deep has loads of light grey bricks to build with. I'll probably order some other bricks from bricklink since this castle is only half of what i am planning to build... (i have 2 large grey baseplates) Maybe i'll start a WIP topic, if that's allowed. Btw, check out the work of this guy in the special lego themes forum: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=84706 -
When i read the title, i read westfall.. (an area in the WoW game) Looks great tho, loads of LOTR minifigs in there, and loads of carnage!

I agree on the net... But the car is not that interesting to me at all. I has some interesting parts, but not that much. Maybe i will find a use for those sand green slopes, but currently i don't have any purpose for them. @ Andy D: How is this for a castle? Still a WIP tho... -
Yeah there should be a health warning on every lego box: Contents can cause severe AFOL symtoms to adults.

I returned from the dark ages a month ago... There was always the itch, but i always thought legos are not for adults to enjoy... Well i finally gave in and started collecting the monster fighters series. On my last birthday my parents came over and my dad saw the vampire castle and haunted house. He told my mom: Hey look here, he has " Het Spookslot" here! (There's a amusement park called the Efteling in the netherlands, and it has a horror castle named like that) I was afraid they would comment like: are you not too old to play with legos? But none of that, they just loved it! Now i think it's somewhat the same as collecting model trains, my uncle does that, so why can't i collect some lego? Oh and if you ever get asked why you still play with lego: I don't play with it, i collect it. And if that's not enough have them google some of the sets geared for AFOL's.

Review Monster Fighters 9468 Vampyre Castle
Jorrith replied to Artanis I's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Brickwise, it's not that awesome, lots of castle wall plates that would only become usefull if you are building a bigger vampire castle. (working on that... ) Minifig wise, its a good deal, but the monster fighter's "hero's" and their car don't apeal to me that much. Overall looks however are just splendid, same as the extra bits and furniture. But considering this was not released as an AFOL toy, i think kids would love it! Parts wise, some AFOL's might be a bit dissapointed, but overall it's a very nice set. -
Why is this not on the frontpage yet? It's ingeniously built and just jawdropping awesome!

That's pretty awesome if you ask me... The roof, the rear wall, the chimney... Superb!

Review Monster Fighters 9468 Vampyre Castle

I have the same feelings about the ghost train set. The plane might look good, but i'll probably build it once, and then take it apart and store it so it does not have that much value for me. Eventually i will get the train, if i can find it somewhere on sale. You can still find the zombie set on ebay, but $100 for a set like that is just outrageous.... I'll just keep an eye out, maybe i can get it cheaper and yes, the zombie bride and groom are really must haves.... But at current prices i'm not going to buy it. @ Zula: Definatly get the vampire castle for your daughter, unlike the haunted house it has lots of play features and i'm sure she'll love all of them! The haunted house has no play features at all, besides the pin on the side to drop the attic ladder down. Lots of details though, but i feel this set was made with AFOL's in mind. It's not cheap, but with over 2000 pieces it's worth the money i think. -
Welcome to eurobricks!

Are you a member of a LUG? Uhm, no. Just returned from the dark ages a few weeks ago, but who will know what the future will bring? Are you actively participating in your LUG? See above. Would you consider supporting more actively the online AFOL community (e.g. Eurobricks) as moderator, regulator (indexing, ...), making set reviews, etc.? Not sure yet, but i do love to review stuff! As a former moderator, i have some expierence on other forums, but for now i'm not interested in doing that. (work, other interests, just cannot commit)

Review Monster Fighters 9468 Vampyre Castle
Jorrith replied to Artanis I's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The werewolf set was cheap enough, but the only parts i was interested in, was the werewolf itself. The tree? meh. Car with monster fighter? meh. The set does have some nice parts for building trees tho. The haunted house on the other hand... Wow. No pesky monster fighter hero's, and a ton of bricks. The build itself was not as much fun as the castle, but the end result is so much more rewarding. I highly reccomend it if you want to do a haloween display. Also the house has less of a tendency to fall apart if you want to move it. Oh, and the best part: My parents loved it! The herse? Has some flaws, but it looks so darn good that i've ordered an other set today! (it was on sale) Also ordered the mad proffessor and the frankenstein monster to go with it, and i will somehow replace the sun blocking machine in the vampire castle with a frankenstein machine in it, as i personally don't care about the monsters fighters storyline. (all the hero's and their vehicles i don't display) Also get the haloween accessory set 850487, it's a nice addition to the theme. Now i only need the ghost train and zombies to complete the series, but with the train i have doubts about getting your money's worth, and zombies is a limited edition set that goes for outrageous prices now, so i definatly won't jump on that unless the price is right.
