  1. Wow, this is quite a build that must have taken quite some time too! Like the story too!
  2. I love my 3677! I have a few trains (see sig) but the red diesel is one of my favs! If you have two sets, just build one, keep the other as an investment! I got real lucky to get the last set from a lego dealer last year, i have been thinking of getting another set but never did. Either way, this set beats the yellow cargo train any day of the week. Also, i've built in some custom led lighting.
  3. I like the story! I do hope you will expand your collection of parts, because you can tell an excellent story, but your MOC's are a bit bland. Don't take this as an offence, i see potential, but i feel you are struggeling to get it right with the parts you have on hand. (i also know how frustrating that can be)
  4. Warlords of Nocturnus: Mortis: Phase 2 As you command, m'lord....
  5. This is my second installment of the warlord community build. Phase one can be found here. WARNING! Due to the gruesome nature of this build, it should not be viewed by the faint of heart, or children. You have been warned. Don't complain if you can't sleep tonight. This is how we do buisness in Nocturnus! If you do like to see some nocturnian mayhem, please continue! The story is set 50 years after phase 1, but still 600 years ago. During that time, Lord Mortis got into an arguement with a mitgardian king, and like any resonable lord or king would do, you declare war on the other person. The battle has been fought, and Lord Mortis came out victorious! Now it is time to settle the score.... Lord Mortis: General Fangwell, what is the latest news from the battlefield? General Fangwell: M'lord, the troops have evacuated all our wounded and are killing off all the remaining wounded enemy troops as we speak. Lord Mortis: Excellent. Howmany casualties did we suffer? General Fangwell: Our troops are still counting, but the first reports indicate we have suffered mild losses. Lord Mortis: Very well. It was a wise decision of you to use zombies and mummy mercenaries for the main attack. That king never thought we would start the offensive in broad daylight. General Fangwell: Thank you my Lord. Lord Mortis: There is also another reason why i have summoned you and Sonja here... The executioner allready has beheaded the king's officers, but i would like you and Sonja to witness the beheading of the king himself! General Fangwell: I am honored, m'lord. Sonja: So am i my lord. The zombie troops are disposing the remains of the last officer that got executed... Lord Mortis: Bring forth the king! King Jihl: NOOO!!! Stop this barbarism, i beg of you! Lord Mortis: So Jihl, you find our ways barbaric? You should have thought about the concequences when you insulted me! King Jihl: Please, i am so sorry, i beg of the, spare my life and i will give you anything you want! Lord Mortis: I want.... your head. On a pike. Sonja, Fangwell.... How about a royal drink? General Fangwell: Well i could use a refreshment.... Sonja: I'd love that! King Jihl: What? Lord Mortis: Troop, you there! Raghas: Yes my lord! Lord Mortis: My officers like to have a drink, fetch them a couple of cups and be quick about it! Raghas: As you command, my lord! Raghas soon returns with two cups... Lord Mortis: As soon as his head rolls, you are to fill both cups with his blood! King Jihl just soiled himself... King Jihl: Mo... Monsters! I curse you all! You can take my life, but i damn you all to hell! Lord Mortis: Hrmph. Executioner! Get on with it! Executioner: RAAAAAHHRRGGG!! The king is brought up to the chopping block.... I am sorry if the story became a bit too gruesome, but filling cups of blood just seemed the right thing to do when your sigfig is a vampire. (also a cruel twist to the story) I have been burning some midnight oil last night to get this MOC done, because our boss Z demanded more Nocty builds! Well i hope you liked the story, gruesome as it be, C&C Welcome, and here are some additional pics: Also there are four persons in this moc that are also present in phase 1.
  6. Thank you! I know the feeling all too well... It's very frustrating to not have all the parts needed to build what you want. Last year, when i was just out of my dark ages, it happened very often! Thank you for the compliment! Thanks!
  7. Wow, nice build! That wall technique works really well, have to try that one someday.
  8. So much going on in this build, i like it alot! Also the dragon slayer that gets zapped is hillarious! The water, rockwork, plants, everything top-notch!
  9. i'd say you are doing great on accesorizing the smithy! The large anvil is indeed a bit oversized, but the small one is spot on, though a bit small-ish. I think you will nail it though, those bellows are perfect!
  10. I had been quickly looking at work at this moc on my cell phone, but on a decent screen the water is really good! You did a awesome job on it, better than i ever could. Also i like the team blue/red thing going on. It's barracks allright, and you gave that a nice original twist.
  11. I like that one! I'll try to think up one too, plenty of time to kill at work... Bored stiff... Oh and ideas for the next moc. [edit] How about Necropians? Maybe not that far off Necrolites, but seeing the kind of clan you want to create, it should atleast be called necro-ish.
  12. This is a awesome moc! I like the livelyness of it, a busy city street. Lots of details too!
  13. Thank you! I must admit that i have been looking at your rockwork for inspiration. The story was a bit troublesome due to the fact that english isn't my native language, so it's sometimes hard to find the correct words. Even though writing the story beforehand sure helps, and during posting it i only had to polish up a few things. Well i thought about making a campfire first, but nocturnus has lava everywhere so why would they build a fire if they can use the lava? Now that you mention it... Yeah that looks really good. The height and depth was something i wanted to train myself in, building on a baseplate does give the tendency to build flat, and a landscape isn't allways like that. This is about how i did the base of the moc... I made the pathway first, meandering to the top and filled the rockwork in later. Also lateron i decided to go for a more barren look and removed all the green plants.
  14. Wow, this is a awesome build! Really like how you did the steps, and killer story as usual!
  15. Those soldiers look great that way! Also i agree on the size of the tower, it looks a bit crowded up there. :)
  16. Finally i have a new build done! The story of Lord Mortis - Part 2 [Freebuild]
  17. Thank you. I think we will see these mummies back in future mocs aswell, since Raghas is a old friend of Lord Mortis.. Thanks! The gate was a last minute decision because all the rockwork was too overpowering. Had to break it up and a gate or guardtower would be to grand, so i made two statues forming a gateway.
  18. Those tan round plates on top of the logs is a nice effect. Nice little build, and also very complete.
  19. It's a weird kind of shop, but i do like this moc alot... The walls are suberb and its very original!
  20. That's a nice house! I really love the interior and the rockwork outside the building.
  21. Same here! It really resembles a drunk guy jumping off a bar stool (and crashing to the floor in a horrible manner) Also love the tree!
  22. Great! You definatly won't regret it! Once you start moccing, you might even enjoy it.
  23. Thank you all for all those awesome comments! I have absolutely no idea... During the build i ran out of slopes, so i did what every sane afol would do - Bricklink some more! Nearing completion i did start to break a sweat, because i was running out again... The reason for dark green is also that Slope 65 2 x 1 x 2 does not exist in dark grey. Also in some LOTR sets it is used to mimic moss covered rock, so i figured i'd mix them in. Also a selection of old dark grey was mixed in to break the dark bluish grey color. I haven't thought about that, but you are totally right! It's from the town hall set 10224, and what i've used isn't even half the amount that comes with the set! Also lots of light bluish grey bricks too.
  24. The story of Lord Mortis - Part 2 - The road to Nocturnus | Jorrith | Nocturnus
  25. Let me say beforehand that my picture taking qualities need improvement, just like the hardware... The first part of the photo's were taken with my very, very outdated digicam. Halfway in i got so fed up with it that i took the remaining pictures with my cell phone. Those ones are a bit darker and less sharp. This is part two, and if you are wondering where part one is... It's somewhere in the nocturnus thread, but i never made a separate topic due to the fact it was an incomplete build. I'll possibly remake part one in the future. The Story of Lord Mortis - Part 2 - The road to Nocturnus Prologue After a avalonian graverobber awakened Lord Mortis by accident, the dark lord decided it was time again to rise. Taking the graverobber's horse and his blood, Mortis set out to nocturnus, looking to awake his servants. However, the tomb of lord mortis was in the southeast part of what these days is mitgardia. Traveling to the Kelra Labyrinths to enter nocturnus would take three days and would be too much of a risk for Lord Mortis. Being a vampire, he must seek shelter during the day and during that moment he is most vunerable. The shortest route would be one of the old mountain paths that lie in the northern part of the rakath mountains, in the past used as trade routes to port Wrath. Those paths were not commonly used because of the dangers that reside within these mountains, but due to the current state of afairs in the darklands more and more people are desperate enough to risk their lives in hope to reach mitgardia... On one of these paths, we find three bandits. Lured by the possible valuables that the refugees have, they decided to set up shop on one of the trails. By the looks of them they are either mummies, or leppars... Carg: Hey pops, how is the fish coming along? Raghas: Well son, it looks to bake just nicely! It was a good thing the last sob we robbed had a bit of cooking oil on him. Carg: Great. We were very lucky that Rigge cought that fish, im looking forward to a meal that isnt only bread this time. Raghas: Haha, i agree with you on that one, son. Carg: Wait, i hear a horse coming! Rigge! Get to your position! Rigge: Got it! Carg runs towards the oncoming traveler. With a raised voice he yells: He who goes there, halt! State your buisness here! Lord Mortis dismounts.. Lucius: I am just a simple traveler looking for a path into nocturnus, not looking to do any mischief to you or your company. Carg: Into Nocturnus? Hrmph! Only a fool would want to go to nocturnus these days! But very well then, we will only let you pass if you pay us a toll! Lucius: I dont have any coin or gold on me, but i do have this sword... Carg: Is that a threat? You would do wise to behold the head we put on a pike there.. That was the last bastard who threatened us! You are outnumbered! If you value your life, i suggest you cough up some gold or turn around to try the Kelra Labyrinths! Rigge: That horse is worth something... Let's just kill the fool and take his horse! Raghas: We will have none of that! Boys, put down your weapons! Carg: What? Why? We can take this guy easy! Raghas: We are not going to kill an old friend of mine, that's why! Lucius: Hah! Long time no see, Raghas Memnon! Raghas: Lucius Mortis! You are a sight for sore eyes! How have you been, my friend? Raghas invites Lord Mortis for a simple meal together with his sons, and they talk for hours about all the things that have come to pass the last fivehundred years, and the current developments conserning the black spire.. Lucius: ...And then i sucked the guy dry, and took his horse. The scum never knew what hit him! Raghas: Hahaha! Serves that bastard right! So, now that you are heading into nocturnus, where will you go to? Lucius: I'll be traveling to Harbringers Haven to awaken some of my old men, and then off to Shadowmere to visit a friend. Raghas: These mountains are quite dangerous when traveling alone. Please, let my son Carg escort you to Harbringers Haven... Carg: But father, what about you and Rigge? Raghas: Don't worry, we'll be just fine! Rigge is an excellent shot, and your old man can still swing a sword. After saying goodbye, Carg and Lord Mortis mount up and continue the mountain path into nocturnus... But one thing they failed to notice... Is that they are being watched.... To be continued..... Well, i hoped you liked the story! This is my biggest moc up to date, 48x48 studs and i wanted depth, so it also has some height to it! I had to use dark orange bricks for the back because i had those in obundance, this whole build has been quite the challenge to not run out of certain bricks before completion... (had to Bricklink dark bley wedges like two times, and i allready had alot!) Total view: Some details: Somehow just all rock seemed too dull, but a gateway too grand for this moc... I've opted a guard tower too... Could not think of something good. This was what i came up with, sort of a LOTR ripp-off, on a smaller scale and no water. The tree was also added to break up the all-rock-ness and following Lord Derfel Cadarn's tree building guide i made a wonderfull tree right off the bat! Unfortunatly it did not fit the moc that well, so i had to adapt. The result however, i like very much. At first i wanted to go with a bandit camp with campfire, but who needs a fire if you have loads of hot molten lava? So running short on black slopes, my pet shop modular had it's roof gone all of a sudden. My rock technique could use some snot in there, but due to the 3D-ish build i did not dare to try yet. Did try some new things like the lava and tree building, and its a massive 48x48 studs! Cast: From left to right: Rigge Raghas Carg I'm happy with this build, i sure hope you enjoyed reading this topic, and C&C Welcome!
