  1. There are more GITD items in the castle set, there's also a GITD spider and a rat. Not that special, but i can highly reccomend the set, even if it doesnt have the GITD stickers. It's awesome fun to build, looks good, and personally i think dracula rather would like to live in a castle then a haunted house. (the house is cool too, but i don't think it's dracula's taste) Well maybe he can sell it to the addams family.
  2. Well, it seems to be a hit and miss on what kind of sticker you get. This week i also got the castle and the haunted house, but the stickers that came with those are not GITD. But you're right tho, it's not a dealbreaker and the graphic compliments the hot rod idea.
  3. That's a really nice idea! Maybe you could use the skeletal horse from the mummy set for this, or just black horses.
  4. I've built the set last night, mine did have the book piece, but unfortunatly they have the new GITD stickers that arent GITD anymore. Well atleast TLG was kind enough to give two sticker sheets with the set. I have been reading that people had the same non-GITD issue with the 9464 Vampire herse's roof sticker. As to building the castle, it was quite fun and the building manual takes you for a nice building expierence with each step being more grand than the other. The construction also had some wow moments, as i am a new AFOL who knew the lego's from the 80's and early 90's the advancements made in the lego system the last two decades are a pleasant suprise. (like finding bricks you always wanted as a child, but lego did not make at the time) You start with building the minifigs, and monster fighters car. Allthough i really don't care about the storyline, (i love the horror theme) the car was a nice and well thought out build. Allthough i do have my doubts about the net launcher, but it's a nice play feature for kids. Then we start building the dungeon tower, with the winch system to hang poor souls up in the dungeon. Then the gate is constructed with those nice boobytrap stakes and flick-fire spider. Then the library tower with the trap door and certain death by stakes, the vampire's resting room that has curtains, the hidden stairs level with the guest's room, and finally the last tower with the machine, and to top it all off, the organ is just the icing on the cake and saved for last. The play features are nice, but as an AFOL i probably won't enjoy them as much as a child who gets this set to actually play with. The details are nice and rich, lots of pieces, and for the price, it's an awesome set. The only minor issue i could think of, is that you have to mind about how to pick it up and move it, because the first time i tried to move it from the building table to it's final resting place, one of the towers came loose. Maybe that's normal, but i don't remember bricks coming loose that easy in the past. Either way, i will probably get more of these sets to build a huge castle.
  5. Actually i never planned to print lego bricks, but who knows... But i've taken up a challenge to purchase a partially completed Rostock printer, so i'm guessing i'm in for the big one to set this baby up right.
  6. May the force be with you Brickdoctor! @ JopieK: hopefully i'll be getting my first parts in for the 3D-printer tomorrow, so lego forum-wise and 3D printing-wise i'm a bit of a novice... But you are never too old to learn something new!
  7. Welcome to the forum! I'm also new here, but just as brickloving as you are!
  8. Haha! The hobbies i choose are never cheap, and i don't expect this one tho be cheap either. Allready spent a ridiculous amount on lego's online, now it's time to actually get them! It's no difference with my youth tho.... Most of the money i got went to lego and model kits...Compared to what i had to spend then, and what i can spend right now, it's not a bad deal at all.
  9. Hi JopieK, no i haven't been around long enough yet to search for AFOL clubs in the netherlands. Maker things? not sure yet what those are, still need to learn alot of terminoligy about discussing lego online. With tinkering i meant i like to make stuff, if it isn't available, i'll make it myself. I do CNC milling for a proffession, so i make new stuff on a daily basis. Also like to do that hobby-wise, hence why i also recently got interested in 3D-printing. Been doing that forever since i was a kid... Even when i played paintball, i made my own custom guns.... if it's not there, make it yourself! But i never did do that with lego's tho... The time i started making stuff on my own was just after that, when i became that age where lego's are not that apealing anymore (15+) It was a real shame my parents gave away the lego's we had, but at the time i didn't care for them. Atleast they will have had some good use at another home, with kids enjoying them, maybe even today. Most we had was 80's and 90's lego, with some really old stuff too. (maybe they got a lot from family and i never knew about it) Either way, i'm definatly digging the Monster Fighter theme, so that's what i'm heading for atm. Also ordered the 10225 Star Wars R2D2, but after seeing the Monster Fighter figs, i had second doubts about getting the set. Well, i love it, so i hove it arrives tomorrow.
  10. That got me in a panic reading about those non-GLITD sticker... Bought my herse today... Fortunatly the sticker glows. Either way, i wanted to say that this review has pushed me to buying the set. Had to drive to a couple of stores to find it, but it was well worth it. Maybe i'll buy another one just for kicks, and to modify the herse a bit. A six-bone... erm six cilinder is a bit conservative for a hot rod, and i would like to make the vehicle a bit longer.. It's allready a bit over the top out of the box, but it could be carried a bit further.
  11. Thank you for the warm welcome!
  12. Well i've just recently got back into lego, always interested but have not touched it for over 20 years now.... But i just had to do it... and today i bought my first set in over 20 years!! Oh, where are my manners? I still need to introduce myself! My name is Jorrit, i'm 36 and i live in the netherlands. I have been playing with bricks for a large amount of my childhood, but only very recently got the interest back, also because of pure nostalgia. Either way, i really like the SW lego, and monster hunters... Dunnow why, but even in my youth i was fasinated by the horror theme, like vampires, zombies, all that stuff. At first i wanted a SW lego kit to display, but now i've seen the monster hunters stuff, i'm in hook, line and sinker! Ok... Well what other things does Jorrit do besides lego? Well, i like computers, so i am into that... The current system is a custom built watercooled rig. Also like to game a bit, (waiting on FF XIV) other games and stuff, well a bit of paintball is nice, also messed around with RC cars, and currently i also own a fish tank that i love. Also am looking into 3D printing, well maybe you didn't guess by now, but i love to tinker with stuff. Even after building the 9464 vampire herse i'm inmediatly like: Hmm, this could use some modification... Well love to be onboard, i've seen so many nice things on this board that i had to register!
  13. Maybe not the best to spend my first post commenting on this awesome MOC, but i just had to! I really love all the nice details, and lots of horror themes around! The scooby doo gig outside the house with the mystery machine van is a really nice touch, so is the inside of the house, i see: - Saw - Freddy Kruger (Nightmare on elm street) - Silence of the lambs (multiple views) - Ring (or Ringu if it is based on the japanese original) - Poltergeist - Scary movie - The Addam's Family (god i love that) - Stephen King's The shining - Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (the famous bathtub scene) - Stephen King's Mysery (could also pass for the japanese movie audition) - Chucky (don't remember the movie title, but he definatly looks like he wants to play) - 8mm? Not much of a horror fan, but i definatly dig the theme and love the monster fighters lego! Awesome build, i really love it!
