  1. Thank you for the great comments, and it's nice to hear my incomplete work is giving inspiration to others. Unfortunatly i did dissasemble the castle last weekend, i was not happy with the design of the base, and some parts of the construction. I've kept the towers intact, and will revisit the castle when i have more bricks. I've also been working on the ghost train, made some minor changes and also modified a virtual train in LDD to the changes i made. So far it looks good, rolls great on track, but i will still need to draw the tender (with motor) and a car that carries the IR receiver and battery box to have it fully motorized. Once that's done i'll bricklink all the parts i need to build this. (recently alot into trains, so this has to be done) If it's a nice runner i'll post the LDD file up for anyone interested.
  2. I agree. The ladder should be against the structure, and not floating in free space. Like the initial design of the booth!
  3. I'd say beef it up a bit like the real version Werlu Ulcur posted... Great design tho, but the rail the crane slides on could be higher. Not that it will make it more rigid, but for realistic looks. Also a control booth would be the icing on the cake.
  4. This is awesome!! Great work!
  5. <-- Loves the work of Masamune Shirow Excellent model, and a very original variation of the Tachikoma tank! If you happen to have a LDD file of this beauty, please share!
  6. That's a nice layout you have there.... Thanks for sharing this!
  7. It's not motorised yet.... Same as the ghost train.. Both were pushed along the track by the yellow electric train.
  8. I'd love to download the .STL files of these... Question: Why are you printing these with a raft?
  9. Thanks guys! I got the red diesel 3677 last saturday with some extra straight track, so i just had to see how it would look if i used all the track that i have in a single layout. It's also the first time that i've layed a track since my dark ages, the yellow electric train 7939 was purchased last week in the 4in1 super pack... It was only 169 euro's so i had to grab it before it was gone. Same with the red diesel though, wanted to order it last friday but the shop i wanted to buy from was sold out all of a sudden. Called the next cheapest shop on brickwatch.net and it's near where i lived, he had one set remaining, so i reserved it and picked it up the other day. Really love that red diesel.....
  10. [Edit]See post #10 for the second video![/edit] Just messing around with my trains, and making a large track in the living room for the first time! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=mxKAEcTQOsA Enjoy!
  11. Like the house, but personally i'm not too fond of the minifigs. Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa look like they are or either freaking stoned, too much duff beer, or a combination of those... TLG really missed on getting the minifigs right in my opinion. And i love the simpsons... been watching that show since my late teens.
  12. It's a shame they don't grow on trees.... Thanks everyone for the wonderfull C&C! My building skills need lots of improvement, and yes, more bricks so i finally can complete stuff!
  13. Let me say this first: I am definatly not into friends.... But this moc is... Awesome! I really like the water behind the jetski, and how the dolphin jumps out of the water... To sweet and cute for my taste, but you did an excellent job!
  14. Lots of wonderfull entries, so hard to choose! 4. majorna - 1 16. wonderpuddle - 1 20. gazumpty - 2 35. BlackGrif - 1
  15. Thanks! The first design was actually on a 48x48 baseplate: But unfortunatly i don't have enough bricks yet... (been out of my dark ages for 6 months now) So i had to settle for something less ambitious. (and this was clearly too overambitious) In this design the dungeon would be the mad professor's laboratory, with a dungeon for his test subjects. The rockwork looked awesome tho.... B Rick: those bley envelope bricks with R.I.P. on them are from the 850487Halloween Accessory Set. The tombstone has it, but i used one of my 3 sets for the herse. They are still available, so grab a few sets while you can! I definatly need a good camera, and a lightbox... Well maybe some time.
  16. Still had to watch the vid since you did not posted it on tweakers yesterday, but it looks great! Nice camera angles too.... Awesome work Arjen!
  17. First i want to appoligise for the poor quality of some pics, it's quite hard to get decent ones from a cell phone, and my digital camera is so old that it's unusable in low light conditions. I never posted anything i made yet, because i deemed it to be "could be improved" but B Rick has been asking about it, so i promised to post some things. Well i have posted some pics of my version of the vampire herse in one of B Rick's topics, but here it is again: Added two more bones to make this a 8 cilinder/bone engine, and also the front grille was changed: The wobbly vampire teeth had to go, and i did like the grille from the MF car in the mad proffessor set better on this herse. The play feature was removed, and the openings in the floor were closed, meaning the tires won't ruin dracula's coffin. The rear of the car features a side opening door now... Also the rear was lowered a bit, and the loose exaust pipes were fixed. A shot underneath the car... Simple, but effective. Not built/modified in this order, but i also modified the ghost train: It will run on track now, but i still have to figure out how to motorise it. Dr_Spock did a nice job with his train, but i like how the front bogie turned out so i want to motorise the tender instead, and keep the battery in one of the following wagons. I'm making up a design in LDD for these, but not sure when i can complete this train. The skulls in the bogie are my favorite, but the construction is a bit wobbly. Can't wait to see this screaming down the track! I've added the extra pair of drive wheels in the set, and made sort of a connection to the front bogie like on the constitution train chase locomotive. Still don't have all the parts to make this all nice, but it's functional as a proof of concept. Underneath the train there's still lots of work to do, but all in due time and money.... Next up is my partially completed vampire castle... I say partially because i still need to complete the rear half of it, and who knows if it will ever turn out this way? My previous attempt failed due to running out of bricks, so i tried to build only one half. Still things that could be improved, but i should not complain with the amount of bricks that i have... One of the turned is keeping guard. The rear of the castle is just raised with some poor brick building, so it looks better... If it sits on the shelf you can't see this, but eventually the rear of the castle will be built. Also the mad proffessor has set up shop in the top tower. This was the most ideal place to catch lightning for his experiments. The treasure room is haunted... The werewolf is trusted with opening the main gate... One of the trap doors that lead right to the basement, and a bed of sharp spikes... Building this castle, i wanted to keep some features from the original, so the map room and organ had to be there! Some poor guy tried to steal the treasure, and failed.. He's being kept there as a warning. And if you did make it into the castle, well it's right off to the dungeon with you! And that's no fun place for the living.... Or the undead.... With some remaining bricks i managed to whip up something of a cemetery, and look who's there? It's the grim reaper! But who else is there?? Looks like two witches are doing something there... Can't really see what they are up to... Ah... They are reading from the necronomicon, raising the dead! One of the witches carries a siccle, just in case the undead are not happy with being awakened.... This zombie was definatly not amused, so the witches locked him inside the crypt. It's a good thing zombies aren't to bright.... (heck, why do they otherwise want brains all the time?) Otherwise this one would have figured out that the rear of the crypt was open. Well, that's it for now.... Hope you liked what i've made so far, thanks for watching and C&C is appriciated!
  18. Well, i'm not much of a castle fan either, but i did buy some LOTR sets for parts to use for a big Monster Fighters Vampire castle. (ok, maybe i do like castles) The LOTR sets do provide lots of usefull parts, but i really don't care for fleshies either. Lego minifigs were yellow in my youth, and these pink ones are just not the same. Liked the movies, but that is as much of a LOTR fan i'll ever be. Anyway, this is what i thought about these sets i own: Riddles for the ring (79000) - Nice for bley rockscaping bricks, but you are better off bricklinking. Attack of the Wargs (79002) - Some brown, two cool wargs, but other than that not special. Attack on weathertop (9472) - Lots of hinged plates, two cool horses (red eyed) some bley bricks for rockscaping, this set has some nice usefull parts. Mines of Moria (9473) - Lots of bley bricks, the cave troll could be used, and it has some nice items. Battle for helm's deep (9474) - This set actually has alot of grey bricks, ideal for wall building. If you can grab 9472 and 9474 at a discount, get them. The last 9474 i bought was for €80, and unfortunatly had to sell for €100... Well atleast i made a profit.
  19. This is just as crazy as your introduction... (yeah i read that, wasn't sure if it was serious or not) Jawdropping impressive tho, but have you thought about where to display it? The sheer size of this monster is something alot of AFOL's would have trouble with, parking it in their lego room. (well you could park it in your driveway, but that might not be safe) Thanks for sharing this!
  20. Movie? What movie? Really didn't care about the theme, but that train set was interesting enough to pick up. It's a shame though, it's really a nice set for the price and there are not that many steam train sets released lately. Here in the netherlands the amount of webshops that keep this set in their inventory is dropping noticably.
  21. Good news! Something to look forward to while collecting the other sets. (just starting with lego trains)
  22. Hello there, I've allready been on EB since august, when i came out of my dark ages but not much in to trains up till now... The monster fighter line was the thing that sparked my interest, and since the series is slowly being phased out, i just had to grab the ghost train before it's gone. Also been gaining interest in other trains, so i got the constitutional train chase aswell, since the lone ranger series is also being phased out. I want to collect more sets, but it will have to wait for now. In my youth i only had a HO scale train set, but never lego trains. My nephews had them though, but this was the time of the 12 volt era, and my parents probably deemed them too expensive. (needless to say, my nephews had way more lego than we had at home)
  23. My sisters liked fabuland alot back in the 80's... But from a market view, lego has a winner here, not going to be discontinued very soon. Personally i hate it, but if it sells, it sells.
  24. I know the feeling all too well... Running out of the right bricks you need is very frustrating, and i am also struggeling too building stuff... Lego has changed in so many ways the last 20 years, that you have to rethink how you want to build it, because there are so much new possibilties that were unavailable during childhood.
  25. This brings back memories... Awesome!
