  1. It should be easy enough to test, right? You'll still hit the current limit of the battery boxes unless you modify them, though - Philo shows the peak mechanical power of the RC motors happening when they draw 1.4 A each, and the PF motors can only supply about 1A for any length of time. 3 battery boxes would supply enough current, if linking them works. If you're using the LiPo batteries that will get expensive at $50 each....
  2. Do you have any of these parts? They are the only Technic parts I know of that have 120 degree or 60 degree angles between adjacent arms. There's also but it's sort of a strange part. If you can post a picture of what you've built it might help others understand exactly what you're trying to do.

  4. For those of you who may not read The Lego Car Blog regularly, they're featuring a really great MOC of the old Morris Minor car in 1:7 scale with a brick-built body, removable engine, gearbox, PF motorization (sort of), brakes, suspension, etc.
  5. Thanks for including the crankshaft photos! I have maybe 8 of those triangular thin liftarms so perhaps I'll make a smaller version of your walker at some point.

  7. This is a great idea! You might want to do a proof of concept at a smaller scale, say minifig-scale - Technic fig scale is enormous.

  11. While we're wishing, I'd add to the chorus for a firetruck. Steering, suspension, PF motors, a slewing ladder base, ladder elevation and extension, PF lights - there are so many functions, and it would have great playability and appeal.
  12. Sweet! It's hard to imagine anyone could beat that speed by much - you've really stripped the vehicle down close to the minimum possible weight.
  13. This looks great, but I'm a little worried that the material is too thin where the trough between two teeth is right above the axle hole.

  15. One of these days your hamsters are going to unionize and strike! I've actually gotten a vehicle with a differential to do handbrake turns and (to a limited extent) drift, using the LiPo battery, a servo, and 1 RC motor with 62.4 x 20 wheels and a total weight of about 500g, so it can be done with a differential - but your spins are much more dramatic than the ones I was able to do.

  18. This is such a great MOC, and the small wheels just don't do it justice. It looks like you could fit wheels of about 6 studs' diameter, though it's hard to tell from these photos. 6 of 55976 would only set you back about $6 on Bricklink (plus shipping) and they would make a big difference in the model's looks - not to mention its ground clearance and thus its ability to clear landsharks
  19. That's a great vehicle and it looks like a fun project. I don't think I've ever seen an XL used for steering before, even with articulated steering like this, but if you've got the room for it why not! As for the body, the U4000 looks more angular than the U402 and thus would probably be easier to make using panels and liftarms.

  21. Very nice! It ended up looking a lot sleeker and more finished than I expected for a rat rod.
  22. Nice! I say add the windshield first and see how it looks with an open top. Either open or closed would look good, I think.
  23. Does anyone know the maximum pressure(s) various Technic pneumatic elements (tanks, hoses, switches, pistons) can take before they fail? Hopefully they fail 'gracefully' by leaking, rather than bursting suddenly. Even compressed air can be dangerous if high pressure is released suddenly.
  24. I like it, and I'm looking forward to seeing the completed model. Are you going to add a firewall between the cabin and the engine, and sides/doors? Those might make it look more finished. And / or maybe a roof, though there are certainly roofless rat rods.
  25. 45560 really is a nice starter set! Cumulonimbus' themed sets would be a great way to build onto it. I'd also like to see 'styling packs' in different colors, with a lot of Technic panels and flex axles in one or two colors per pack, and a Technic wheel assortment pack (4 each of a range of wheels and tires).
