  1. Hi! I'm a Technic builder located in Western Massachusetts. If you're in the area - especially in the Pioneer Valley - let me know!
  2. Rm8, thanks for posting this - the vehicle is beautifully done!
  3. There are two Power Functions (PF) extension cables, one of which is 20cm long (#8886) and the other is 20in (# 8870) long. Each of them has two different ends. One end (which is colored dark blueish gray) can be connected to PF wires on the top or bottom of the connector. The other end (which is light blueish gray) can be connected to PF wires on its top, or the old 9V system on its bottom. Thus either extension cable can be used as a converter so that PF elements can drive 9V elements like the old light bricks. You may also want to check out what Sariel has done with motorizing switches to control lights. He discusses it to some extent on his website: http://sariel.pl/2010/10/automated-trafficators-system-2/ Sariel talks about it more in his book "The Unofficial Technic LEGO Builder's Guide", which I recommend very highly - it talks about all sorts of mechanisms from steering geometry to transmissions to pneumatics.
  4. Edwin, That's outstanding! Besides the colossal scale of your creation, which is impressive by itself, the visual resemblance to the real ship is incredible. Bravo!
  5. For whatever reason, I was successful when I tried again just now (OS X 10.6, Firefox). So for those willing to 1) deal with Lego Education and 2) willing to pay what is probably a markup of a dollar or two per motor, it looks like it is possible to get the PF L and PF Servo motors now.
  6. Has anyone had any luck doing this? I tried it (in the US, on a Mac running 10.6, using all the browsers I have - Firefox, Chrome, and Safari) and had no luck. While I was able to add both kinds of motors to my cart, when I tried to check out the site got stuck in an endless redirect. Maybe their site only fully works on Explorer?
