Technic 2019 Set Discussion
Zerobricks replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, and kids can forget to turn it off and drain batteries. But if they are using PU, servo motor triggering can be done in app. -

But that means you have to constantly hold the control for servo. -

If the excavator uses 4 motors, then we can expect a model like 8043 with a gearbox, but I suppose we would see L motors and wave switcher parts to switch between 6 functions. -

I think TLG kept connectors color coded in Porsche, to keep people from mixing the ones with axle hole from ones with pinhole. -
[REVIEW] 42096 - Porsche 911 RSR
Zerobricks replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I just built mine. I agree with otehr complaints regarding the lack of functions, too many and different colored stickers. I would also like to note that the rear wheels are almost touching the rear frame, which is a bit concerning. On the upside, the set has plenty of room for upgrades, either gearboxes or motorization and the suspension is more than capable to take on the extra bulk. The set is also a very good parts donour, you get plenty of panels, suspension parts and such, simillar to 42077, but a bit more. -
[REVIEW] 42094 - Tracked Loader

I see Jim also got a new version of the mini linear actuator. I just noticed it while building my copy, it is a different mould of the casing without a central rib and a squarer look. -

Is that a yellow T piece liftarm? Those are rare in bright colors. -
You can also use ball joints to create king pin inclination which moves the steering point onto the wheel: This is what many real trucks use, but the wheel still requires large bumpers.

I usually don't like to brag, but what I came up is IMO the ultimate solution: The links used to hold the axle are attached above the center of the wheels. This way wheels are ALWAYS rotating in the center and the compensation is done automatically: Moving the pivot point on the edge of the tyre reduces compensation and axle tilting, but it will increase steering angle: This means the system can be adjusted according to your needs. I think this is an awesome new way to build rugged offroad machines

I mean ones from Porsche, not 'vette compared to Chiron's ones for example. -
Technic 2019 Set Discussion

Seeing now that we have 2 different wheel arches sizes, is it safe to contemplate the next supercar might use different sized wheels in front and back? -
I had another idea how to implement the system: Basically the servo motor drives the 24 tooth gears which move the axle holding links in order to rotate it. I am using knob gears and 24 tooth gears as lever to compensate for 45 degree offset. IMO this is a cleaner and sturdier solution. What you guys think?

Well done. Yes, use the small turntable to stiffen the joint and reduce the fiction to the drive axle. Also increasing hub ratio might help.

No visible gear wear, the gears were lubricated with silicone spray. No idea about bent axles though.

42096 Porsche 911 RSR

And they used the black ones on the top of the hood, even though white is available... -
Try changing power modes between fast/ludicrous next time it cuts off. Might help you avoid turning app on and off. Can you get an andorid based device and see it it happens too? Also they way you are driving can affect this behaviour if you are suddenly changing from forwards to reverse in full power and such.

My observations: Driveline is as simple as it gets, diff:20:12 They used U joint for steering wheel, but did not tilt it for reasons beyond me... Front suspension is literraly copied from the Rally car Red towball pins? There is plenty of room to have working HOG, but it's not included... Basically a 42077 minus HOG and minus cool opening trunk... 42077 is better IMO -
Actually using my idea it would take less force to steer the wheels, since they have to travel a much lower distance. Also, Nicjasno's idea doesnt work well when you include teh forces created by drive/hitting obstacles.

I tried using the normal PF, but is simply can't go as fast as BuWizz in Ludicrous mode. Not to mention that the perfromance kept dropping, unlike BuWizz which regulated output voltage. Thank, designing the moduels was the hard part, afterwards it was simply copy pasting IRL Correct, industrial zone is in Budapest, good eye! Yes, as you can see behind the scenses video, the 16x16 truck had the power, but not enough traction.
