  1. I'm curious about the train too - I would very much like a Passenger train, as the last few have not looked particularly good, in my view. I watch a lot of travel vlogs on Youtube and there are often people making a journey into the Arctic Circle on a passenger train, so they do exist, but I agree a freight train is more likely. I'm not sure what would make the train particularly obvious that it was an Arctic passenger train but hopefully the set will include some decent scenery (I wouldn't object at all to a return of the snow covered large conifer tree parts - Plant, Tree Pine Large 4 x 4 x 6 2/3 with Marbled White Pattern : Part 3471pb01 | BrickLink but preferably in dark green and olive green). A snow covered station with minifigs dressed in suitable winter gear would please me as well.
  2. I guess I feel it would just be weird to have a themed series specifically for animals and then include a lot of other creatures that don't exist in the real world or odd variations that would be best suited to series that are based around other themes like the robot dog/space penguin, especially as there would only be room for 12 figures. I agree it would be cool for more animals to be introduced alongside suitable figures like the cave people with a sabre-tooth cub you mentioned but I think these would be best suited to a regular series. Currently though my preference would be to make sure real world habitats have plenty of representation first - just my opinion of course, but I don't really get the use in something like a space penguin and I feel the Jurassic World license offers enough opportunity to provide all the dinosaurs we need. Generally I do advocate non-themed unlicensed series as I tend to think this offers something to cater for everyone.
  3. I think it would depend on the license. For example, IPs like Star Wars, Marvel, Jurassic Park and Harry Potter don’t need Lego to advertise them as they would help Lego sell more products rather than vice Verda. There was a UK set which had Asda stickers but I can’t see Lego having paid Asda for those. i did think of the Grocery Store set but never really saw it as a supermarket - it always looked more like the kind of shop you get at a petrol garage to me, although it does have a supermarket logo branding albeit no name! I wish the made those trolley pieces in metallic grey too!
  4. I don’t mind dinosaurs but can’t really see enough small sized ones to fit in a CMF series. As for mythological/sci-fi/cryptozoids, I’d personally much rather Lego made a big push to fill as many gaps for animals in the real world first before they push for the bizarre and fantasy stuff. A CMF animal line would go a long way to adding lots of small animals (or young versions of bigger animals).
  5. Yes - I like the idea of Lego City having their own brands, rather than existing names. I had always hoped for a supermarket with its own colours, etc. no doubt Lego these days would only use real brands that might pay them to advertise their product. I always thought Octan was the name of the petroleum company - anybody know if it officially stood for anything or if it was just supposed to sound a bit like like octane or is it octane in another language (maybe Danish)?
  6. I am - the bird is very nice to look at too though. It does make me wish we had more CMFs with a new animal included though. A whole series would be the best - not at all bothered about the figure itself - for all I care they can give us a series of zookeepers or wildlife photographers, as long as we get some cool animals and quickly fill all those gaps that Playmobil have been so good at for years. The 12 I'd pick... Beaver Sea Lion Vulture Pelican Capybara Anteater Swan Gazelle Baby Hippo Ring-Tailed Lemur Tapir Wombat
  7. I’m finally a proud cockatoo Dad!
  8. I’m not aware of any imminent animal related announcements so thought it would be a good opportunity for a quick opinion poll. 1) What are you three favourite Lego animals to date? 2) Which three animals do you most want to see that don’t already exist?
  9. I love it! Just imagine what the Lego group could do with the Adventurers line given the parts and colours available today. Having said that, one of the best parts was the chassis allowing the minifigs to sit adjacent to each other (I think this first appeared in the theme). I always like your versions of these sets - staying true to the original theme while also incorporating newer parts.
  10. I’m still waiting for that coral coloured flamingo you teased us with years ago!
  11. If that's the case I'm going to continue my booing... Booooooooo! Booooooooo! Booooooooo! Booooooooo! Just as I thought Lego were starting to understand that there are lots of animals not represented and that Playmobil still outclasses Lego on that front by a country mile! Come on Lego, I won't stop moaning until the most recognisable safari animals are available (e.g. zebra, giraffe, rhino & hippo), plus our temperate forests and rainforests are still lacking (beavers, foxes) and the koala and cockatoo need some marsupials to boost the Australian representation (kangaroos and wombats). I also want sea lions and swans. I would expect the summer City sets to provide something more than the rumoured list.
  12. Nice - I’ve been watching lots of YouTube videos about train trips up to the Arctic circle and as a lover of scenic train journeys I’d be very pleased with this.
  13. I like the idea of Lego releasing new train stuff each year but in smaller sets like a model railway. e.g. as mentioned above, individual freight carriages or specific additions like the Metroliner club car. in addition there could be track expansion sets with more variations like junctions, platforms, signals, invoices, bridges, stations… id end up spending more as I’d buy longer trains if there were compartments (I’d love to be able to buy more Orient Express carriages without having to pay for the front engine again).
  14. Presumably new trains as the station and passenger train are retiring. Hope we get some good ones as there really hasn’t been a City train anywhere near as good as the Metroliner since. Ideally I’d like to see a train subtheme based in the Canadian Rockies. Lots of winters or autumnal trees and appropriate wildlife. Appropriately attired minifigure selection. A decent looking train with no stickers, a sleeping compartment and viewing compartment (ideally several carriages you can buy individually). I’d very much like some form of bridge for trains to cross and newer track parts that allow for an incline to the track. Who knows what else we will see. I’ve said in another thread I’d either like a more complete safari theme so we finally get some missing African animals (giraffe/zebra/hippo/rhino) with some dark or olive green coloured vehicles. I’d also like a tropical island subtheme. A decent airport with palm trees and tourists. Other sets with a Paradisa-esque vibe. Waterskiing. Dive boat. Villa with pool. Finally, a river boat/barge with a rural looking bridge and swan family would be great and would compliment the new modular!
  15. I liked the fact that last year there were more opportunities to get some Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw student torsos. Thought Lego were starting to get that and would have included something either in the Charms Class or Duelling Club but Lego revert to their old selves and like to disappoint!!!
  16. I think the building looks great. My only gripe is the 1x2 grid tile used to represent ‘bacon’, which they did before. It doesn’t really look like bacon. Either print a regular 1x2 tile or don’t include bacon. Almost as bad as the ‘chick and the duck’ in the Friends apartment.
  17. Is the camel now officially under goat status? 🤔
  18. Yes, Lego still needs to fill the basic gaps before we start specialising. I think the ‘Wolf pup’ works sufficiently.
  19. I can’t find the picture of the farm/sheep set - does anyone know how many sheep there were and if this included any lambs (trying to reduce my pick a brick order but will leave out the sheep and lambs if they are the same)! Thanks
  20. I don’t think it needs to be aligned particularly to the US National Parks. Especially if that requires licensing. Just some sets that have a feel of exploring the wilderness - more modern updates of https://brickset.com/sets/6552-1/Rocky-River-Retreat and https://brickset.com/sets/6665-1/River-Runners - a shame the new campervan doesn’t include a nice autumnal tree and a moose!
  21. I’m dreaming of a glorious summer safari wave (only this time with all the bits they missed before). I’m talking giraffes, zebras, hippos and even gazelles, warthogs and meerkats.🦒🦓🦛🦏 Alternatively, sign me up for a North American style ‘Great Outdoors’ subtheme. Lego City explores the National Parks. 🦬🐿️🦝🐻 🦅 Add a harbour set with sea lions 🦭 and we’re all good.
  22. No new animals in the January 2025 City sets it seems. Let the booing commence... Booooo Booooo Booooo
  23. Not sure about the map but certainly a similar style. One of the soap box cars has a minifigure that could potentially fit in well as a Harry Cane pilot too.
  24. I'll join in the booing for the lack of new animals and recolours... BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
