Lego.com Orders - delivery times
lifeinplastic replied to lifeinplastic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks Captain Britain - that's disappointing. Hopefully the statue freebie set will be available at Lego Brand stores, as I won't be able to guarantee I'll be in to accept a delivery. -
Could anyone in the UK advise whether orders on the Lego.com site are next day delivery? Many thanks

Sorry for the confusion but I mean both. Just looking for ideas of how to portray different signs and wording on buildings. Printed tiles would be awesome if available (although I'd rather have black on white than the reverse that MAB linked). It would be cool for the thread to be used as a way of showing off letter forming skills, as there are some really creative builders here!
-
Hi All, Couldn't find a similar topic on the subject but have Lego ever released any letter/alphabet bricks or tiles? It would be quite a useful set of parts to have (I am thinking basic black font on a white background). Brick built letters are nice but there are often limits regarding size and shape. However, with the availability of newer moulds/pieces it would be good to have a thread where people showed off their lettering for ideas for different techniques regarding fonts and sizes.

These look amazing, Robert! The gondolier is my favourite though - I really hope we get an official one!

CMF Series 17 Guessing Game
lifeinplastic replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Keep meaning to play this game each time! My Guesses as follows... Not sure I have enough of a mixture of themes and not enough 'action or monster' characters but this list would be ideal for me... Air Steward(ess) - probably a lady in a 60s airline uniform Barbershop Guy - think Homer Simpson and the 'B-Sharps' Canadian Mountie - I do like the international/cultural figures Castaway - rugged beard, messy hair and 'message in a bottle' or possibly another seagull (one without wings spread would be nice) Chef/Cook - either with a rolling pin or striped apron and spatula for a BBQ Circus Strongman - dumbells and caveman-like costume Classical Musician - possibly a lady to balance the numbers but we need more instrument moulds! Evil Genie - a red version of the original genie Frog Costume - again, probably a lady to balance the gender numbers, lime green diver flippers for feet! Golfer - probably one of the most requested figures yet to be made Gondolier - classic black & white striped top, straw hat and red scarf with oar/pole with singing face Hotel Bellhop - dark red uniform/hat with 2 luggage bags (really hope this is made without an open-mouthed face). A golden trolley would probably be too much to expect! Marie Antoinette - a similar style lady from this historical period Monk (Friar Tuck) - would be a shame if not possible due to Lego's no religion policy, but hopefully classed as a 'folklore' character (with Grandpa's hair piece in brown!) Shepherd(ess) - Little Bo Peep would be good Veterianarian (animal doctor) - possibly with new mould animal (rabbit?) Also Robert, any more pics? - I'd love to see some more designs (mainly town!)... -
Ha! Don't forget destroying our Lego creations! Often find myself almost saying to my nieces "it's not a toy". Oh wait....

Went to the Lego store at Westfield (SB) today hoping to pick up Fun in the Park but sadly not yet in stock. A wasted journey as I also wanted a Brick Bank but decided against it as the deal for the statue park set doesn't start until June. Not many useful parts in the build a fig stand either although for those interested they had Spooky girl's teddy, a lumberjack axe, ice dancer torso, grey baseball cmf hat, werewolf hair, fairy's face...

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
lifeinplastic replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Sorry, but I do believe that Lego does take into account feedback from popular fan sites. Therefore any criticism should be expressed in the appropriate threads like this. It's a discussion and people have a right to express their opinion, exactly in the way that fans of licensed themes do when they complain. We don't all have to agree but just because one post has previously expressed they don't like something does not mean others can't echo those thoughts. Apologies to divert the discussion though. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
lifeinplastic replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
So true and so annoying when so many great potential non-licensed figures still to be made. At least with the Lego movie there was still something for everyone. Problem is that there are still so many Disney characters remaining and the theme provides Lego with a bigger market as so many non-Lego fans will still buy them to put on their shelves to gather dust... -
I was thinking something like this... https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=bolivian+lady&biw=1366&bih=622&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjA2fmhl9DMAhVMJ8AKHX7XA3oQ_AUIBigB#imgrc=CKd_v_xr_Q53fM%3A The only problem is I'd like several different ones - a lone Bolivian lady would not be much use, whereas several would be exactly what I'm looking for. Hopefully one will be a white tuxedo. However, I am sure somebody said the dog show judge was female. I guess they's have a coloured blazer or something less James Bond.

MOC: First class lounge - Terminal 1 - Idlebrick Airport
lifeinplastic replied to snaillad's topic in LEGO Town
Another great build, Andrew. Lots of great details, from the positioning of the figures to the textures on the bar and far wall. Good to see this featured on The Brothers Brick, too. Really love how you usually mix my two favourite passions - Travel and Lego - More please! -
Some tough choices to make but I'll give it a go.. Male minifigure: Series 6 Sleepyhead Female minifigure: Series 13 Paleontologist Licensed minifigure: Licensed figures don't interest me but if The Lego Movie counts - Larry the Barista What is your least favourite CMF that you own? Possibly the Viking from Series 4, although the crazy scientist from the Monsters was bad but I don't 'own' it. What CMF do you want the most? The Imp costume kid from Series 16 although I'd like a couple more Bavarians from Series 8 What S16 CMF are you most looking forward to? See above Honourable mentions to all 'repeats' - without variations the figures just become single figures and have nothing to interact with.

A sequel to fun in the park is an excellent suggestion, Robert! Particularly fun at the beach would offer a new selection of summer torsos (could I also pitch 'fun in the snow' so that this is countered by some new winter torsos). It would be good if there was a new City minifigure set each year like this - a chance for Lego to give us new torsos not available in other sets and to make existing hair pieces (plus other accessories like bicycles and flowers) in new colours. Perhaps a 3 year cycle of park, beach, snow... Although the fun at the zoo would be great, I'd rather also see an annual zoo set as well with new animals (so envious of playmobil fans who even have an okapi!). A zoo sub theme would be disappointing if it was a few sets released and then nothing forever after, like Farm...! Still, I can't wait to get my hands on Fun In The Park - new torsos, wheelchair, baby, hairpieces in new colours... A must buy for every AFOL City collector surely?

I went with Breezeway (as a nod to one of my favourite sets of the 90s) Play-Well (I like the reference to the phrase "Leg Godt") Chez Albert (the Parisian Restaurant is my favourite modular). I didn't think The Lego Movie was actually that good (although I acknowledge I am not the target audience). I personally dislike the fact that Lego nowadays seems to put most of its focus on releasing licensed themes (to the detriment of its own products and thereby detracting from its former motto 'Just Imagine...). I would therefore like to see the dining areas named after Lego's own creations rather than anything licensed (which includes the film, which I feel was spoiled partly by licensed characters).
-
Hopefully the spy/secret agent wil be a suave Bond-esque figure with a nice dinner jacket torso. It's a shame we have to wait for the Disney series interrupting the regular series before we can buy Series 16 - how nice would it be to be able to get our hands on these sooner and then another regular series in September *sighs...*
-
I like your ideas as usual Klaus-Dieter! Although I think the Egyptian exploration theme is better suited to the era that the Adventurers, rather than modern day. The Amazon exploration set would be most welcome but hopefully made in more realistic colours and with lots of new parts (preferably new animals and plants) rather than something we could build with existing pieces.

The printed one is best by a country mile - always thought they should have made a version in blue (like a blue macaw).

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
lifeinplastic replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Sorry to sound like an old grizzly guts but this to me is an utter waste of shelf space and another frustrating replacement for what could and should have been a regular series, which always has something for everyone. My fears are that these only represent a very tiny portion of the whole Disney cast list and so we could expect to see waves upon waves of this for years to come... *slinks away to sob quietly at all the potential regular CMFs which have and will be delayed as a result*- 4,155 replies

Best Adventurers subtheme
lifeinplastic replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
1) Tough to say which was the best - Egypt was the original and a wonderful choice by Lego to choose a tomb-raiding theme, especially at the time when new themes were quite rare (with Town, Castle, Space and Pirates dictating the releases every year), so it was nice to have new parts and a new setting. As one of my favourite areas of the planet to study, I always felt the Amazon should have been explored further and the sets would no doubt have been much better with today's colour palette available. However, I always remember seeing the magazine cover with the monkeys in the ruins and loved the introduction of minor characters like Max Villano & Gabarro, making the theme feel more like the Tintin books. It was a shame that more animal moulds were not created to provide more appeal for people to buy sets. I didn't really like Dino Island as this seemed like just a means of introducing dinosaur moulds and wasn't really in keeping with the world exploration theme. I understand why it was done, as Lego must have felt a Jurassic Park concept would be popular in the same way that Indiana Jones was no doubt the inspiration behind the original Adventurers line (back in the days before licensed themes dominated Lego releases). I was therefore really pleased when the Orient theme was launched, signifying a return to the spirit of the original sets. I didn't particularly think the Chinese sets were particularly great but the Himalayan and Indian products were excellent. 2) I don't think Adventurers should get a fifth subtheme but rather a reboot (albeit using the same main characters), as it has been absent for too long. As is the tradition for today's Action Themes, this would be accompanied by a television show to increase popularity and awareness with kids. Sets should not focus on specific areas of the planet for each wave but become more random, as I always feel that once an area has been explored, it won't be revisited as technically Lego would consider the area explored as 'done with'. I also wouldn't like to see anything that doesn't stick to the core ideas of world exploration (so turning Adventurers into a Steampunk or Atlantis/mythology line for me just wouldn't work - if these themes need to be explored, I don't feel the Adventurers line needs to be compromised and turned into more of a fantasy theme but should be kept in line with the Indiana Jones/Tintin concepts although kept as a non-licensed product. I would love to see a range of sets providing us with great new parts and locations - polar exploration with dog sleds and large boats, Andean mountain trains, Lawrence of Arabia style camels & Petra-style rock buildings, Mayan temples like Tikal and Chichen Itza, Easter Island, David Livingstone's search for the source of the Nile (crocodiles & hippos galore) and re-use of the CMF diver suit. Certainly plenty to choose from... -
The more I think about this, the more I want it to be real! The sets needn't be too large either but just like the modular series, there would be lots of speculation and excitement each year as to which new animals would feature. One thing I don't like about City subthemes currently is that (aside from Police and Fire) they only feature for a half year wave of releases, often never to be seen again. Therefore if we had a zoo City subtheme we'd get it once (perhaps 4 sets in total) and then possibly nothing more for another 20 years! Having an annual release would allow new animals to be featured every year with only a couple of new moulds required per annum rather than all at once. A zoo would also cover all world wildlife so wouldn't need to limit the range of animals which could feature. The set could have two or three enclosures to allow for some buildings and could also mix new moulds with existing moulds like the ostrich, camel, chimp and rumoured series 16 penguins. My Top 10 wishes would be for hippos, zebras, rhinos, flamingos, koalas, llamas, sea lions, kangaroos, giraffes & sloths. I also think that the forthcoming 'Fun In The Park' will be quite popular this year partly due to the new torsos included so a zoo theme could continue the concept of introducing new civilian minifigures as zoo guests and cover all bases (elderly folk, children...). I'd also like the Zoo to have a regular logo like the trains, Octan, farm and the postal service... oh, and pleeeeeease no stickers!!!!

Adventures End
lifeinplastic replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This MOC has a great feel to it and evokes a certain nostalgia - makes me wonder what happened to the rest of the characters? If only Lego Action themes had their own TV series at the time (would be much better than all this modern Ninjexo nonsense!!)
