Although sadly all the employees would have to be called Larry as he has a name badge. That's something that really bugs me about CMFs wheen they are made into unique, non-multiple-use figures like the Mechanic (Raph) and the Waitress (Tara) when it isn't essential and they would otherwise have the potential to sell more.

Future of the CMF as licensed characters
lifeinplastic replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I guess it depends if Series 13 is definitely the Simpsons or not. If it becomes a series and there are only 2 non-licensed series next year - No. 12 (albeit from The Lego Movie but still Lego's 'own' theme) and Series 14, instead of the usual 3 then I would class that as replacing original CMFs and yes, I would have a problem if that was the case. Sorry if it has already been discussed but I thought i would add my opinion, as I haven't yet posted once in this thread. -
Future of the CMF as licensed characters
lifeinplastic replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I really, really hope the future of CMF series does not turn to licensed figures in place of the current format. The Lego motto of the 90s was 'Just Imagine' but nowadays Lego seem over-reliant on using themes other than their own. A real shame for those who love Lego for its own themes and always have done i.e. not just temporary fans that like the novelty of having their favourite films charcters, etc made into a figure and will turn to another hobby/format once the license comes to an end. I know the licensed themes are very successfully financially for The Lego Company but they should try to stay loyal to their original brands where possible. The CMF line has been the best thing that has happened for collectors of non-licensed themes for a long time, with the introduction of new moulds and there is still plenty of characters for Lego to cover in future series without resorting to a license. -

William Shakespeare – Very, very well executed. Instantly recognisable and would have been suitable for a usual CMF series. Nice to see a new ‘bald’ piece too as I don’t like bare stud = bald figs (hopefully there will be remakes of the Grandpa hair with black and brown side hair in future) Gail the Construction Worker – Again, this could have been included in the usual line and probably helps towards addressing any gender stereotypes. Good face and the hat + hair works well. Panda Guy – I would have preferred a plain teddy bear suit guy but hopefully we will get one in future series. Abraham Lincoln – like Shakespeare, very well done. I really like historical figures and hoping Elvis (or an Elvis impersonator in white jump suit) will make an appearance one day. Looks from the trailer as if Abe may play a prominent supporting role in the film. Taco Tuesday Guy – presumably one of the ‘already seen’ figures. I liked the original Series 2 Mexican but it isn’t the guitar player we’ve been waiting for. Larry the Barista – probably my favourite figure of the series. Great new hair and face perfect for any Lego City, Lego Movie or not! President Business – I appreciate the corporate suit torso and like the fact that Octan must appear in the movie (takes me back to my Octan race car I had as a kid). I don’t get the hair though. Presumably this character will appear in sets as well. Calamity Drone – possibly the worst figure of the series – ugly hat and hair combo with a torso which can’t be used much elsewhere, plus an old accessory we already have Queen Of The Mermaids – Not particularly appealing but I like re-colours of existing parts and the torso and face are OK. Wild West Wyldstyle – I’m not a big fan of the look of the Wyldstyle character but the torso would be good to reuse as part of the Monster Fighters theme or a Dark Elf, etc. Scribbe-Face Cop – Somebody mentioned that this will probably be part of the sets, nothing too special except the phone. Velma Staplebot – fantastic beehive hair piece which will hopefully be remade with other colours (very 60s!). Better than Calamity Drone. Hard Hat Emmet – quite plain but good hat ‘n’ hair and the tile looks interesting so looking forward to seeing this in more detail. Possibly not necessary if he will be in most of the sets. No-Pants Guy – Like the shirt but little else (underpants should have been like the Series 2 lifeguard legs but white instead of red). A new or recoloured hair would also have made this figure more likeable. Mrs Scratchen-Post – Too similar to Series 11 grandmother and I don’t feel the torso would really fit with regular City figures. Wiley Fusebot – I don’t really like this – was hoping a Davy Crockett character would appear in a CMF line with the animal skin hat. Overall, I would have preferred a normal CMF Series and really hope No. 13 will be back to normal rather than The Simpsons theme (no thanks, Lego). However, I do understand the Movie CMFs will have good marketing value to promote the film.

I would imagine it is this part to assist with the rising/reclining movement of the bed. http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/30042

I did suggest before Series 10 was announced that there should be a Series with a larger accessory. For me, it would be much better than the Simpsons idea or if the movie figures all turn out to be remakes. For example, a shepherd with a sheep or a patient in a wheelchair. I quite like the figures we have had with animals like the monkey, chihuahua and seagull but I suppose these would be easier to 'feel the packets'. I don't think a Canadian Mountie would need to have a horse with it and I also suggested a soldier could be a UN Peacekeeper with khaki clothes and a light blue bib and helmet. That way it doesn't have to represent a particular nationality. I'm not really pleased that Series 13 is rumoured to be the Simpsons and not sure I believe it. Also concerned that the film Series will be just a bunch of old figures with nothing new. However, a classic space guy in a new colour would be welcome (I'd vote green).

It would be great to have more figures dressed in 'summer' wear, including swimming gear. The swimmer from Series 7 is an obvious choice and the surfer and sumo guy both are topless although both either super-muscled or overweight (nothing really in between). Please keep us updated with this build as I have been looking for Lego MOCs relating to this theme. Thanks

A nice little MOC Monsinjor - The 'cave' is pretty frightening and reminds me of some old Playmobil sets which had a Jungle Exploration theme. It would be nice to have similar sets released in Lego as part of a modern day 'World Explorers' line with tourists visiting different areas of the globe and would include new animals, transport, monuments and scenery. A jungle set like this would also enable us to have more trees and plant life to use in other themes. I particularly like the dense foliage used in this MOC and the lighting and shadows created gives us the impression of being in a hot jungle with the sunlight creeping through the forest canopy.

Discussion Topic: Should there be a 2 storey modulars series.
lifeinplastic replied to Legoofmyleg's topic in LEGO Town
I'd welcome some 2 story residential buildings like semi-detached houses with roof bricks and new windows in different shapes and neutral colours. I doubt we would get a new line of City structures but it'd be nice to have something between the high priced modular but an improvement on regular city buildings. -
I rarely comment on MOCs as I worry I'll start being over-critical. No need for that here though and thoroughly deserving of front page news (more of this please Eurobricks!) *stands up to applause*

*Groan* More Police sets? If true, shows a severe lack of imagination or commitment to their own themes again. Makes me wonder if we'll ever get any Zoo/Safari themed sets if Lego keep regurgitating the same rubbish every year. In my opinion Lego City hasn't been any good since the farm sets. Hopefully the jeep and jet ski will provide some form of half decent leisure subtheme. Sorry for the rant but as a Lego City fan first and foremost it is annoying to see so many other themes always take priority.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
lifeinplastic replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That would explain it but still... as nice as her name is I don't want all my waitresses to be called Tara! Please, please Lego make figures more generic for multiple use. It's really annoying!!! I think the grandmother has been quite unfairly judged. I think the hair looks good in grey and although I dislike figures with open mouths, the torso and accessories are pretty neat. The mountaineer has the crash helmet in red, which is quite appealing. I wish the elf was more colourful with a better face. Hopefully the 'Blues Brother' will signal further musicians, as it is a well crafted figure. The crow on the scarecrow looks a bit ill though! -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
lifeinplastic replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The Waitress looks a little better but it is really annoying when, like the Mechanic and American Footballer, the figure has a name tag or specific number which means using multiples in a MOC just looks wrong. For example, every player on the American Football team is number 12 or all the mechanics in the garage are called Raph. Now all the waitresses are called 'Ta...something' You would think the designers would consider this when creating the figure but it's a pity they only see each figure as their own design and each figure as an individual one-off figure rather than something than can be used multiple times. This certainly limits their appeal and the number of each I would have otherwise bought. -
Lego Series 12! What do you want to see..?
lifeinplastic replied to MisterR's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I appreciate each Series needs a mixture of themes, which is part of the appeal of the CMF line. However, although I love history, mythology, horror, fantasy, etc, these choices reflect my main interest, which is the City theme (or the World Around Us) and therefore are my most wanted figures in no particular order... Music 1) Barbershop Singer - (very much like Homer's outfit in the 'B Sharps' Simpsons episode) 2) Brass Band Player - like the Toy Soldier's uniform, maybe with a tuba or another instrument compatible with an orchestra 3) Violinist - the Lego orchestra will be the new 'army builder'! 4) Elvis 'Impersonator' - White Jump Suit and microphone (just please don't spoil it with an open mouth head Lego!!) World Cultures 5) Andean (Peruvian) - brightly coloured traditional costume with pan pipes (sadly probably not enough room for a llama too!) 6) Sheikh - Like on the cover of the Orient Bazaar game - bring back the Prince of Persia camel too!) 7) Alpenhorn Player - a variation to continue the 'Bavarian' family with a long horn (a milkmaid & goat herd too please) Occupations 8) Teddy Bear Costume - light brown colour similar to the bunny suit guy 9) Hotel Bellhop - In Dark Red uniform carrying 2 suitcases 10) UN Peacekeeper - Light Blue Helmet with light blue bulletproof 'UN' vest separate from khaki torso and legs. 11) Zookeeper - with new moulded Penguin, wearing dungarees (the zookeeper, not the penguin!) 12) Zookeeper/Australian - with moulded Koala Sports and Leisure 13) Tourist - or any figure with a white Panama Hat and black trim (new mould), could have Hawaiian shirt and camera 14) Seaside Kid - short legs, a normal (not muscled or sumo wrestler) bare torso, swimming trunks and small bucket & spade for the beach. In fact, a whole range of beach figures would be great (bring back Paradisa!) 15) Golfer - with a club (and a caddy bag if possible), light grey flat cap and more old-fashioned outfit. 16) Cricketer - wearing traditional cricket whites including V-necked jumper, bat and maybe helmet As you can see I'd like figures with animals a lot so a range of Collectible Lego animals would also be great as soon as you're ready Lego!!! (Kangaroo, Hippo, Rhino, Giraffe, Sea Lion...) -
The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
lifeinplastic replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I just hope there is a scene in the film featuring some minifig-scale animals so we can FINALLY have some. It would be great to have Johnny Thunder back too but he deserves his own film! I would also agree that the CMFs should not be characters already in the sets. It sounds like I'm not the only one who gets annoyed about the incompatibility issues!!- 2,626 replies

Ideas for New Action Themes
lifeinplastic replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yes! Outback would be great as I much prefer 'Real World' themes to Chima, etc. Perhaps a family reunion between Johnny and Jake? We definitely need more animals available in Lego's own themes (non-licensed) so kangaroos would be a good start but also other parts of the world, particularly Africa (rhino, hippo, giraffes), plus bring back the Prince of Persia camels and ostriches. The sets would be helpful in getting more plants and foliage too. -
[MOC] Architecture - Lisbon Oceanarium

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
lifeinplastic replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
But once again - what would you do with them all? I found a shop with Series 6 figures the other day and was pleased to finally own a Sleepyhead figure, which is my favourite (only the sleeping face side though). Series 8 was one of the best waves and I sadly missed a few there too. I am also eagerly awaiting the jazz musician in Series 11 and he will hopefully come with a decent metallic saxophone and a Panama Hat (we haven't had enough instruments or musicians previously - I would then possibly understand the 'Army Builders' and buy a decent sized orchestra if there were more suitable figures in future series. Maybe Grandma will be a keen tuba player ! (p.s. my 'Enter' button doesn't seem to work any more on this forum so I can't reply on a separate line - any suggestions?) -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
lifeinplastic replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I would imagine that all the other non-gender specific figures in Series 11 will all be male, given the usual 5 females per series. I was hoping the mountaineer would be female rather than the scientist as I wanted an Einstein. Still, there are plenty more unseen figures, which I am looking forward to - mainly the Jazz Musician (interesting the list did not specify 'saxophonist' or 'trumpeter', etc...) and the Waitress. The question is though - would you prefer to see the remaining Series 11 pics now or a list of Series 12 characters? (for the record I don't have either so just a hypothetical question). -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
lifeinplastic replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hopefully these won't be the best that Series 11 have to offer as I'm quite underwhelmed. Not really sure the yeti is particularly recognisable and very upset the scientist is not an Einstein lookalike.
