    Mountain

Loving the forced perspective with the train and bridge. Really enjoying your labours.
  2. The shady lawyer who is framed for a crime and the detective next door who has to try to find evidence to prove his innocence? Yes?
  3. Just got Emmet's construction mech today and so happy to see a male mini-figure on the back!! I'll have to take a photo.
  4. I'm thinking that would be exactly the genre/style TLG would use for such a building. Film Noir with Art Deco architecture. As I'm building a police modular right now it would be a bugger but a happy one to own another modular. I like the idea of a laundromat on the first floor with the detectives office upstairs. In fact this would be how TLG incorporates a story into the set. Maybe we would even get a new hat piece for the 'dame' in distress. :)
  5. This is awesome! Really creative idea and executed well. It reminds me of the children's toy they used to have where you flip the wooden panels around while holding it. They were connected together and with a flick of the wrist make it cascade one way or the other. This was back in the 80s...

    Modulars

I really like the work you have done with the facades Serpico. Both are simple colour schemes but add character and appealing ascetic. You used some modular techniques to your advantage which is cool. You'll have to show us the interior once you've completed them. The apple building is nicely done. Really like the look you've created. The only drawback I saw was the backside of the Grill building. Looks like its unfinished with left over parts. Keep up the good work.
  7. Love the amount of interior detail you have added. I agree this desperately needs to be made in brick. Very good use of space too!
  8. There is one notable difference in the past few years. One can break down the NA boxes as they use tape to secure both sides while the boxes in the UK for example still use the punching through the package's side to get into it. Personally the NA version is so much more efficient as you don't have to damage the box and its easier to store too.
  9. Really, I don't care for all the talk about how they need more female minifigures. I make plenty on my own. I'm happy that this project got approved. I don't look at it as a feminist set at all, just some interesting vignettes. The fact that it is getting produced so quickly is pretty cool. Not sure if anyone noticed but the Back to the future train is still under review. :o
  10. Haha! would make for an interesting photograph don't you think? Hehe, of course it's lego!
  11. I liked the new design of the police station and pleasantly surprised you turned the idea into a modular. I really like your first floor with the garages and the glass staircase. What did you connect the glass staircase to on the far wall?
  12. I agree, you should post it on lego ideas. As for your creation, I love it! You have done an extremely well done design with lots of details. It's quite nice to see that you were able to pack so many appliances into such a small room. I will definitely look forward to your next retro redesign. :) Oh one other question, where did you get the white 1x4x5 bows?
  13. I've always placed the flowers in the official way, 'studs up'. For me studs up was obvious because it allows you to build on top of the flower. Simple thought.
  14. Excellent build snaillad. I wish I had your collection of bricks to build with :) the outer facade is understated but when one looks closer there are far more details. I like how a few parts give it that extra bit of texture. I'm assuming this building is on two 32x32 base plates? I really love your buildings!
  15. Quick update: Two of my orders have arrived this week but alas my baseplate was missed on my order when it was shipped. It should arrive in a week or so. Most of the unique parts are now acquired. Most of the cost right now are the bricks and plates which is still sitting at a cost of about $400. Really wish there was a lego shop near me to make my project cheaper. I've had to make the adjustment to my design with the arches and the windows. Initially I had the 1x2x3 windows in tr. blue but only one 'Cars' polybag ever made that part in a set. I've switched it to clear. Frustrating but what can one do? In any case I'm using tr. blue for the centre windows and doors and the other sides of the building; while clear will be on the front left and right facade. Should create a distinct look all the same. A heads up to those who wish to use tr blue glass. The 1x4x6 frame glass are .68 cents CDN each. Pricey.
  16. Sounds like quite the project. Can't wait to see more and read your updates. :) I may have to try my hand with your floor technique.
  17. To me the modular line is in modern times just with old buildings. That in mind they could totally do a post office or library and it would still be relevant.
  18. I was admiring the floor technique and checking out your canal design on Flickr. I am impressed with the ideas! Have you thought about combining them?
  19. In truth Faefrost I couldn't recall what the name of that portion of TLG's doctrine is. It is interesting to note that 'no war toys' policy was shaped from the event of the Second World War. Anyhow, back onto modulars!
  20. TLG would never do a church or other religious creations as it is not part of their core values. Same way they do not do WW1 or 2 themes. A combo dance studio and gym on a 16 wide would be interesting. :) they tried to do a bike shop with the town square set but would be cool if they did a really detailed version. A jeweller is a pretty good idea! Could tell a story with that. Both your suggestions about an octan building are fun. I'd love to see something made for it but I was thinking that may fall into the city line.
  21. Good to hear! I agree with the substitutions. In fact the only item I would like to fix on mine is the bright blue bows. I currently am using medium blue. I was lucky enough to purchase the last of the sand green with grooves 1x2 last year from BnP. They literally had 70 left!
  22. If I had a Pick a Brick wall close to me I wouldn't have any money lol. I've been trying to keep pace with collecting but it's difficult without more income. The sets I currently want I'd be spending at least about $2-3,000 per year.
  23. Truly amazing!! Love every little detail. You should be extremely proud of this. I've been to the wall and love all things Roman. I am assuming you changed out the MOC pieces to change the seasons? Moreover did you make two MOCs? One for the construction and the another for the completed fort?
  24. Make it stop!! Haha. I found that kid extremely annoying. The idea that this kid was so enthusiastic about Lego he has to scream it from the rooftops, didn't work for me ever! Thankfully we have Lego characters to look upon now.
  25. Canada has too few stores. Three in Toronto and none elsewhere in Southwestern Ontario. TLG would make a lot of money just setting up a store here in London, Ontario.
