  1. I really like what you have done here. Excellent work! When you did the stone work did you use random slopes or was there a method?
  2. You're welcome! Thank you! That sounds cool. I may try that myself, using LDD first. You're welcome!
  3. Looks like you will need a shelf organizer for all those boxes. Are they all MISB or NISB? Since space for me is limited I put boxes inside boxes.
  4. Not bad at all for your first effort. I assume it is? I was around 600-700 CDN for CC and GG. Considering that the GG tends to sell at a minimum of $1200 CDN, I think we are in good shape.
  5. Hi everyone, Since there is Octan Gas station enthusiasm in the air, I thought I would share my lxf file for the Lego world Octan Gas Station. I, like Lightning Tiger who recently has been making one from scratch, reversed engineered the design from photos. See the link below for the LDD file. Octan Gas Station.lxf http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92477 : Lightning Tiger's project http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=91836&hl=octan : My modular Octan Gas Station I built a modular one and noticed I missed a few things from the early incarnations of my design. In the end the result was much better than I hoped. I took a few element styles from the original Lego world design and changed quite a bit. For instance, I didn't use the bricks on top of the overhead roof sign-age. Nor (at the time) did I have a similar gas pump. If you look closely at the photos from Lego World you will see that they didn't use a fireman's hose but rather a yellow nozzle which can be attachable to a string with two studs on the end like on my gas pump from my modular version. Anyhow, I hope you like what I've done and now everyone can build their own. Happy building!
  6. Looking good LT. I was looking over the design and I made an LDD as well. I noticed one thing missing from yours. Perhaps you removed it? The x2 Plate 1x2 w. Shaft 12M (Element ID 99784) What did you design the stickers with? Could you tell me what type of sticker sheets you use?
  7. Really like your city street. It definitely has the Belgian feel to it. The brick work between the tracks is a nice touch. Great work!
  8. I managed to score the market street mini figures from BnP. Maybe I should have bought more torsos but since I don't sell things I just needed the one. I got the kitten eyes 2! But wow it costed $2.72... I'm really concerned though as to why the prices have jumped on the majority of parts. Most torsos are now at .84 cents CDN and legs at .65 cents.
  9. Thank you Moebius118! I will take a few photos. I'll post them tomorrow. Shame that the gas truck is now retired too. I wonder why so soon? Maybe I should have bought another one... It's quite possible that the octan station at lego world is an actual creation/set and they just never released it for whatever reason.
  10. Amazon prices usually jump once an item is discontinued. On the Canadian lego site it is now listed as a retired product. Sad to see it go but thankfully I own one. The fire boat and helicopter are retired as well. Those two sets didnt even last 10 months :(
  11. Need any help with that? I Reversed engineered most of it for my modular gas station.
  12. I really like the simplicity of the exterior design. Excellent work!
  13. Would love to see your photos of your creation TheLegoDr. For the sake of simplicity I'd just use the same colour. I was going over my interior design for the main floor on the CC. Not sure if I want to change it but will have to as they don't make a 1x2x6 bow in reddish brown.
  14. Make sure you post photos Inzane when you get the chance! Sounds great! I had some minor upgrades due to lack of original parts. Just received my new Bluish Grey Parrots to replace the used Drk Grey I had. Both GG and CC are otherwise 99% authentic.
  15. Say it isn't so Vee? It has been nice having you around on the forums reading your comments and threads. As for me, everything in moderation so as not to burn yourself out. Right now, space for me is becoming an issue but I had to move back home. When I have my own place again things will improve. I usually buy the smaller sets at first, then when I've gotten all the ones I want I start to move onto the bigger sets. If I can find things on sale I will usually buy them. I've had to cut out Star Wars sets right now. It is unfortunate as I missed out on the rehashed sets the first time. I am mainly I am just sticking to City and some creator sets. I really don't pay attention to how much I spend as long as I enjoy on what I spend my money on. Personally I'd like to collect everything I want but without a job its difficult. I refuse however to go back into another dark age.
  16. Very cool Sin! It has been fun! I also will be looking forward to seeing what you achieved Brickgrrl. At the moment I'm trying to think of how to design my subway platform and how I would arrange the street overall.
  17. Thankfully you were there to take pictures Eiker86!
  18. You are probably right. Didn't necessarily wish to remove the extra supports only for a practical solution. Perhaps using the 2x2x3 slopes back to back with a brick underneath would compensate? I realised you were right about moving the tracks over to the opposite side on the baseplate would work better. I suppose if we were doing this with real bricks I could see things clearer. I'm redoing the design similar to what you have now and for my own purposes will place a subway platform on the straight portion between the two curves tracks. Oh and I meant to say 'one mind'. Oops.
  19. Looks like we are of two minds on this. I assume from what you've done that you moved the start of the curve halfway on the prior baseplate to the corner portion? Looks that way. I really like what you've come up with Sin! I saw Brickgrrl's space and realised she doesn't have much room to play with. So I came up with a simple solution below. I stripped away the base of the columns to provide more clearance and wondered if it would be better to let the curve be out in the open as it has to pass through a wall.
  20. Thank you Elleana. You are very kind. Hi Brickgrrl. If clearance is an issue the corner pillar on the curve could be taken out. I used mainly 2x12 and 1x12 plates on the modification. The technic bricks are 1x14. I'd be interested to see what Sin has come up with for the corners. His design is wider but means that the bottom portion isn't modular. Depends on what you really need it to be.
  21. One lucky little boy! Keep up the great work!
  22. Ok, so I found that on the curved portions I had to leave out a few pillars. I believe the weight balance can be maintained by use of more technic pins to connect the two curved ends to another section in the corner. (There is a corner pillar on the section between the two curved sections though you do not see it in the last two photos.)That should brace it sufficiently depending on the weight of the modular building above. I would certainly use this design overall. Now I just have to start work on a open space subway section to below the main street level. Does this help you out at all Brickgrrl?
  23. Haha you know it. It is funny that you thought up this design as I was planning on working on a mine landscape or a subway system connected to modulars. Perfect timing! Thanks to Brickgrrl for starting this thread.
  24. Ok, so I modified your design Sin. I realized that if you want the components to separate and be more modular that I had to alter things. I reduced the outside edges by one 1x14 technic brick on two sides reduced the frontage of the pillars nestled in the top using a 1x2 plate and having a 1x2 brick and tile The rail tiles will now connect to a subsequent section What I am thinking now is to integrate a curved section of the railway while maintaining the balance of the modular that will rest upon it. I was also thinking of making a section that will have the brick work and arch to hide the other sections as it comes out into the open.
  25. Haha Sin. That is awesome. May as well use the idea to build your own subway line.
