I am the linking pin between projects and maintenance management. On a large scale I should add, the projects I support mostly concern large infrastructural changes or new builds (amongst others 50km of new railway and currently a large Metro project). Tricky stuff, but I love it.

Ordered the mini today, with the holiday gift set added automatically. Wel, I say I ordered, it's actually my birthday gift from my girlfriend. Should arrive just in time, but I wanted to wait until the gift set became available. (we're actually getting two cars for my birthday, the second one is scale 1:1...)

A missing piece should not happen. Still: I hve found myself thinking I was missing a pioece quite often and all those times I made a mistake (used a wrong piece earlier in the build) or the piece hid itself in a crease in the bag it came in. Pieces from a different mold are not a problem, as long as you can still build the set with it. I've had sets with the fences above with 2 and 4 knobs mixed with the manual only showing one or the other.

Intruiging Tweet from TLG-Apparent huge news is coming

Hmm, maybe you should think about the "little respect I had for them" thing a bit more before being bummed about someone else expressing little interest in a theme you like. -

Ah well, we'll just continu playing with real lego then! Seriously: come on, that kind of us-them thinking is a bit, well, stupid. About as stupid as someone hating Bionicle and still having some in their collection. -
1x4 toothed plates are used as "grilles" quite often in Technic sets (and Creator too, if I'm not mistaken), so not really a new use. Also, I don't quite like it.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
jfbat replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Town Hall is big, a bit bland and not really that detailed, which is why I can understand quite a lot of people think it one of the lesser Modulars. I don't, I think it was a good effort and the reason I don't have it, is that I have my limits as to what I want to spend on Lego in any given year and the space I have for Lego in my house and this one just didn't make the cut. I really like PR, but it seems the price just doesn't want to come down to a level I am more comfortable with. Up untill now, Modulars went down in price after about half a year at some reatailers over here. The two I have (Pet Shop and Grand Emporium) cost me less than € 140, new at a shop. PR still is around € 170 and I think that's just a bit much for what you get. -
I know, that's why I wrote I hope they are "very preliminary".

I agree, kind of said that in my earlier post too. I'm really hoping that the builds are very preliminary and will be detailed more in the final version. And not by just adding stickers.

Ok, you got me there. I should have said "Bureau is a very common word in the Dutch language." ;) -

Brickshop is a Dutch site. Detective Agency would typicaly be translated to "Detective Bureau" in Dutch. Just as a Police Station would be translated to "Politiebureau". It is a very common Dutch word in this context. So: nothing Federal about it, really. Keep in mind though that in this phase - with pictures not being available yet - there is a tendency over here (in the Netherlands) to translate setnames literally. That led to the erronous translation of this year's Creator "Bikeshop & Cafe" into "Motorzaak & Café" (Motorbikeshop & Cafe). Brickshop was the first to have it up on their webshop with that wrong name, but have since changed it to "Fietswinkel & Café". However, there are stil some shops around that use the wrong name, such as the largest Dutch chain of toyshops Intertoys: http://www.intertoys.nl/speelgoed/lego-31026-lego-creator-motorzaak-en-caf-601685.html So, maybe it is a Detective Bureau in English as well. Wouldn't put my money on it, though... -
When I looked at te pictures again, earlier today, I also discovered that my disliking/finding some sets a bit too simple might be largely influenced by a lack of stickers. Trucks, for example, usually have a "grille" sticker on the front, to break the big block of tiles that the snotted front results in. Most of the times I don't use those stickers, but use some grille-plates instead. I also had the feeling that some sets really are very preliminary and need some more figuring out how to get the desired end result. The van-based truck with the port-a-loo has a front that just is a bit too simple. But I might want to get that one. The loader flaps (or what do you call them?) is on my want list. And that nose is easily modded...

HUGE, BIG, I'm thinking: new polybags! -
The last sentence made me giggle... But I agree with you, it seems that these new Creator buldings are harking back to the Town buildings of yesteryear. Especially that yellow beach hut thing, it's back to the 70's! I've hade quite something to say about this year's bike shop & café, but you know what? I bought it (at 20 euro below the RRP) and despite quite elaborate plans to MOD them (especially the bike shop), there's a good chance they'll end up in my city unmodded after all. Yes, they are smaller than the Modular buildings, but the modulars are actually buildings of the larger kind anyway. Townhouses (eg the house with Pet Shop) are way bigger than the more rural modern buildings in real life too, so the scale somehow works for me in the end. Might ad a little workshop to the bikeshop, but we'll see. What puts me off a bit about the toy shop is that open back. For playability purposes that works very well, but as a "model" it's not my thing. I also think it's a "foldable", and I guess it might be cheaper than this year's shop-set. I'll just wait for the official release and make my mind up then.

I'm a but underwelmed by these pictures. The swamp police thing just doesn't rock my boat, so I had my heart set on some gooed Great Vehicles and the Construction sets and, well, they're just a little simple. The small construction set vehicle, for example, has an in my opinion, ugly brick-built front. A shame, since we have a very nice new(er) piece for that, that was used in the nose of this year's camper. I'm hoping these are very preliminary pictures...

Hey, it's not just police and firemen! We're getting a demolition site, too, next year! Probably to break down those terribly vandalized buildings that have no other use than to act as hideaways for all those criminals. And to prepare for Emmet and his collegues for the Lego Movie 2 sets... Jokes aside, very interested in those demolition sets.

An American style schoolbus would be kind of off for City, they rarely do vehicles you would only see in the US and mostly stick to European styled vehicles. It would be nice, though.

Wow. Just wow.

Pricey? Rediculously overpriced! Over here those sets (when available) cost € 14,99. Thats as much as set 60033, which has way more parts and comes in a proper box. Apart from the tent there are no special or exclusive parts in this set, so I have absolutely no idea why it should cost that much.

Thanks all! @Legotom: you mean something like this... Because that's actually something I've had in mind for exactly thaat vehicle, but I just lack the right bricks...

Not surprisingly, my city has quite a large contingent of emergency services. The fire department makes up the main part of that, apparently one ambulance suffices and though the population of my town somehow has a 10% crime part, only 2 police vehicles suffice. Overview: The "do it all" Fire Engines. You might remember these from here, but I slightly upgraded them with a second compartment on the right hand side of the vehicle. The ladder: The divers squad car. This is a 4x4 and has ample clearance to go off road. All-round Truck to transport equipment. Currently loaded with a bobcat and a wheelbarrow. Based on the new police truck, built it from the pictures while the instructions where not available yet. Quite tricky! Ambulance & Police Van: Fire chief, Fire 4x4 and Police chief cars:

There is an "engine" up there, but the way I built the bonnet restricts the space a lot. I tried a different way, but then it's just not sturdy enough for me, or the bonnet gets just a bit too wide. It doesn't really bother me though.
