Had a chance to pick it up for 10 euro (really!), otherwise I wouldn't have bought this. I think these pick-ups are way out of scale compared to the trucks and indeed, that lack of doors bothers me too. On it's own, though, it kind of makes sense. And it's always nice to have a regular car for the city - with a roof!

That commercial is still online, even on that biggest of all video-channels. Easy to find too, if you look for the, erm, sw commercial from the brand this site is about from this month in this year.

42040 Fire Plane
jfbat replied to timtimgo87's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nah, doesn't appeal to me aesthetically. I like this one a lot, so it'll stay this way. I'm in the middle of something bigger at the moment, anyway... -

Well, I went to pick up the Arcos today and look what also seems to have fallen into my bag! It was a very fun build and has quite a lot of play-functions too. Working flaps, prop, engine, waterdrop. You get a lot for what you pay for it. -

Advanced Models 10248 Ferrari F40: Discussion Topic

My box also had those two tabs you have to press in. I sliced trough the glue though so as not to damage the box. Which will probably end up in the old-paper bin anyway... -

Mine's built too now. Honestly, the pictures don't do it justice enough. It looks very impressive and just right, from all corners. Tiny spot of bother: the front hood won't close right every time. Something seems to be in the way but so far I haven't been able to figure out what. If I put it on it's - pardon my french - butt, somehow things seem to fall into place again and it closes up nicely... Strange. Lot's of pieces left after the build! -
The proportions just aren't right. Nose too long, body too short, resulting in an awkwardly stumpy looking mongrel. It would have looked better with another section of those doors. But then again it would most likely go over the pricepoint they were going for.

I've got a feeling that Speed Champions isn't doing as well as Lego would have hoped over here in the Netherlands. The biggest toy chain (Intertoys) has them on sale now at 50% off the second set. And still they're not really flying off the shelves...

The toy car is a water cannon, used by riot police mostly:

(2015) May The 4th Be With You Offers - Discussion thread!
jfbat replied to Lobot's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The AT-AT arrived in prime condition. Air-thingies around it, poster flat as can be, just as it should be. That DHL left it on the back-porch, wellllll.... let's say it's a good thing it was lovely weather today and I live in a secluded neighbourhood... -

My order is on the way too. AT-AT for me, been wanting that for some time. -
Wander around Amsterdam (or the Netherlands in general) for a while and you'll encounter many more such examples (modern buildings too). Salmon is actually not that offensive a colour for buildings. Bright pink on the other hand...
-
Sorry, but that's a bit exaggerated. There are plenty of odd-coloured buildings over here. Fitting in with the neighbourhood has a broad meaning and mainly depends on the story behind it and the planning commission to follow that story. Also: if it's historically correct it might even be illegal to change the odd-colour of your building (monument preserving rules). Example of a "pink" painted building in Amsterdam - approved by the muncipality: The man you're referring to painted his house in "oud Zuid" a very distinctive pink. That stood out as an eyesore and also did indeed violate planning code - for which he neglected to get an exemption. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Great building, comddwc! Love the exterior and interior!

Bought it when I was in London earlier this month. It's great value for money - just pick up that box and be amazed at the weight, and be even more amazed when you open the box and find it almost filled to the brim with bags of bricks! And it just a very nice classic little house.

There are also ones like that in Zwolle, Ede (only open on weekdays), Delft, Breda and quite a few other places. Best thing about them: they're usually cheaper than Lego itself. But they're not official Lego stores, so no VIP points...

It does fit on a truck, but just like in real life it has to be completely disassembled... ;) The Mixer was meant to be one of those rides that actually largely folds out of a trailer. Ferris wheels almost never are, in real life. So it's a pretty accurate set in my eyes. But, wow, what a big set. As with the town square, Lego seems to be inclined to rapidly increase the size of this kind of sets. I'm wondering if they might have bitten of a bit too much this time. I mean, both this set and the new town square appeal to kind of the same demographic within the Lego-fan-community and expecting them to pay 2 x 200 (+?) euro in one year...

They'll get my money too - for that Mercedes Arocs.

Still not tempted, lightningtiger. It's a nive set and I see where part of that pricetag is coming from, but we've progressed from 70/80-ish euro to past 100 and now to almost 200 euro. And that simply is "more substantial sets" money to me. Meaning: not a cobbled together hopschotch of builds that would have been way more interesting on their own as seperate sets. Now, that would have been an interesting summer wave: those builds as separate sets. That would have been a no brainer to me: every week another addition. Hmmm...

Hmm, I think you could be right about that. Somehow I had in my mind the garbage truck was a bit cheaper, but it's indeed 20 euro RRP (around 16 euro retail at quite a few shops). Have to think about it, not convinced, though I like the set better than the garbage truck. That massive chassis-brick is basically of no use to me while it without doubt makes up quite a bit of that RRP... ++++++++ The summer wave of City still does absolutely nothing for me. Well, okay, that city square does look appetizing but wow, what a pricetag. If I'm going to spend that kind of money on a Lego set, it has to be something more subtantial, like a Modular or a nice big Technic set. My budget is reserved for the latter this year, it's going to be that Arocs.

That 10683 is a great parts pack! Let's see what it goes for in retail - if it's below 10 euro RRP (and thus around 7-8 euro retai.) I might pick it up.
