  1. I actually like it! Looks like a nice little racer. Better than the umptieth kart-like thing, much more like a nice little car.
  2. Yes, it is. It's quantity that counts regarding the content these days. So as a "journalist", you want to spend as little time on an article as possible. Pick up everything that flies by, if you want to feel good about yourself spend a few minutes on Google to be able to tell yourself you at least did some research and then post it, so there's one more piece of clickbait to sell advertising. But that's a whole other mather...
  3. I've stopped counting, they're all over the place here. And I have a hunch there'll be another one added tomorrow when I open my Christmass Present...
  4. I'm guessing the people that deal with the toy-licences made sure of that, or they'd have hell to pay for a vehicle they licensed not even appearing in the movie... I mean, they already had to deal with vehicles turning out a "little" different in the movie...
  5. Viewing this set on it's own merits, to me it looks a bit too rough with all the studs, but the wing structure is indeed impressive. The price should be justified by the fact that it's a licensed model, but I saw the movie yesterday and there's just a bit too much wrong with this ship (wings, ramp in the front). Lego should have gotten a discount off of the license fee for this model, because Disney apparently forgot to inform Lego and the other toy makers about the serious design changes since the prototype. Or did they simply forget to show them al the wing positions and the ramp in the first place?
  6. They did. The Flatiron came out this year in the Architecture series and is still available. As mentioned in the review, the "cityscapes" are a new line within the Architecture series, next to the less-micro scaled series with one building. I like the way the flatiron and Empire State are done, One World Trade Center looks a bit bland and could be a multitude of high towers and the Statue of Liberty and Chrysler building - though recognizabble to me - just look a bit off. When I saw the first (small) pictures of this I thought this would be a must have for me. Now I'm not so sure anymore...
  7. What a nice, tight an clean design! Usually not too keen on the pull-back models, but this one is great.
  8. There's a reason some users on youtube have disabled comments for their videos. This is one of them. Seriously, don't bother to answer these people after you said no. Or just not at all if you've made explicitely clear you're not selling mocs. And no, they're not entitled to anything. The fact you took the trouble to shoot a video of a MOC you made is more than enough.
  9. The new motorbike works fine in that racing motorbike set of this year, but as a firebrigade motorbike... I'm not so sure about that. Bit too flashy for me.
  10. My experience: the users that ask for strict rules and strict application of those rules, are the ones that are most likely to try and find the limits of those rules and then complain they're treated unequal. Then again: I've sadly also seen forums where some users getting away with "murder" and users that complained about that being treated in more than an unfair way. As for this case: the language barrier does not always help. Not being used to the finer "rules" that apply to the use of the English language sometimes throws non-native speakers off a bit. Nuances get lost and friction appears, especially when those for whom the language is the mother-tongue don't take that into account. I don't particularly think the mod in this case was rude in any way, but I also understand that the user didn't quite get that.
  11. Strange that the designer of this set didn't think of a way of letting those liftarms/forks fold back a bit further so they don't stay as high up as they do now. In comparison to the last iteration of the garbage truck, this one seems a little unfinished too. It kind of seems like the prototype wasn't completely refined... I do however ghet the idea of the red-white stripe on the side as a hazard line. Could have easily been continued in the cabin in the place of the lihght grey that is there now... The container shoud have been a bit higher too, to prevent stuff from falling out prematurely. All in all it seems a bit of a rushed/unfinished design... Then again: it leaves lots of opportunities to mod it! And as a play set this just is very neat.
  12. So, OK, we get resealable bags inside the boxes. Especially with numbered bags, how to get the right parts in the right bag? Disassembling the set with the manual in reverse order? I can't see many people doing that... For me: I don't really care, but most boxes are sturdy enough if you want to keep them. Only the really small sets come in those very cheap cardboard boxes. And even with those, if you take enough care when you open them, are perfectly easy to keep. As for the resale value: people know they're buying a used set, so I think most don't really care if you use the original bags or one you get for next to nothing at the supermarket. It would only really be a problem if you'd want to sell them of as new...
  13. You're right, it's been taken down somewhere between last night (I've looked at it around 10 o'clock last night CET) and now.
  14. There is a picture of it on the (in)famous Italian PDF that is floating around internet.
  15. I like the ferry very much. It looks a lot like the ferries we have over here to cross rivers where there's no bridge.
  16. Oh, I'm sure it will. And the snowplow wasn't the first version too, but this version seems to fit the "rehashability factor" pretty well (as did that bog-standard truck-cabin that's been used numerous times). Don't get me wrong, I think they did a good job within the City-builcontrictions. In fact, the snow plow was a must have from the moment I saw it, just for that Unimog cab. But I've got so many firetrucks, that I think I'll pass on this one. Curious as to what the next iteration will be!
  17. The Fire Utility Truck is basically a rehash of the Snow Plough of this year, with some extra's thrown in (wondering if that 'll up the price). The Police Pursuit is a combination of similarly named sets of the past years. But is does have a novelty: a 6 wide "normal" patrol car. Is Lego slowly moving towards 6-wide cars as the standard? Hard to say now, because the only other car in the now visible 2016 sets is in Fire station and is still 4 wide, but then again the cars in the Fire Station sets are mostly just a small extra with little attention paid to them.
  18. It was my first thought too, even the title kind of made me hoping it would be (although the bar in that painting is offcourse called Phillies). Well done!
  19. Well, they did make a whole movie to adress that issue, more or less... But then again: you need something to spark the imagination. If Lego kind of seems stuck on two or three themes and rarely strays from that path, it's possible that some kids (young and old) have a hard time to break that mould themselves. And if all you've got is a whole load of white, blue and red bricks, it's sometimes hard to make something not look like it's fire or police-related... In the end I'm with you. Lego provides the ultimate way to do it yourself if they don't deliver what you want. Cross those themes and bash those sets. Unless. offcourse, you have glued them together (literally or figuratively - ie: in your mind).

Yep, joking offcourse, but yeah, it's also not that common over here. Somehow the noise has to come from the built-in stereo's rather than the engines. All show but no go. Maybe it's the weather... In the UK it's quite common for car dealers to display the cars on sale with the booth open. Never understood that either. Talking about engines: I've got a mighty 3 cilinder 1 litre turbo under the bonnet. Might not seem much, but it's quite economical and most of the aforementioned all-show-no-go guys (and gals) stand little chance if they want to "race" me.
  21. Yep, they're very simple, don't require many parts and thus make it possible to put a "vehicle" in a cheap set, or an extra "vehicle" in a bigger set. In the olden days - when vehicles would'n fit minifigs (the seventies) - a small car would contain about the same number of parts, while costing about the same as one of those small ATV-sets of today. It's the same with open top cars. And small helicopters. This year's City starter set is ridiculous... An ATV, a small helicopter, a jetski (wait, that's another one of those easy fillers), a small boat an a bigger boat, both mostly made up of a big piece and a few smaller ones. Couldn't feel more like a no-inspiration thrown togethers box of spare parts... A stark contrast with the starter set of 2013, which had 2 mid-size vehicles with interesting parts.

They shouldn't be! It's you who has to set the record, not them, after all! So don't expect any help from them. They're too busy fueling up on their sponsor's liquid anyway. by the way: do cars break down that often over there, that some 4-5 are having trouvble right at the moment you're taking that picture? With their hoods up and all...
  23. If that were the case, I think Lego would have quickly reacted to the rumours of a quality problem and stated that the sets really sold out that fast. Not reacting to the rumours of a quality problem is a PR-"disaster", especially if it's not true and the real reason is way more positive from a PR point of view. I would not be surprised if Lego had some problems getting the sets to market in time for Force Friday and had some slip-ups in their Quality Control along the way. Seems like a perfectly logical explanation to me.
  24. I'm guessing CM4Sci means the missing parts customer service section. I totally get that Lego doesnt easlily make those available yet. If your set reallys has something wrong with it, I'm sure a phonecall will suffice.
