  1. To not further hijack your topic, Criga88, I opened my own here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=97222
  2. Inspired by this design by Criga88, I decided to build my own version of that. I showed the WIP in that topic, but here is the (more or less, I alway keep improving builds somehow) final outcome of that effort. I added a trailer, which is a bit short for such a big rig, but this is where my supply of red wall panels ran out... 1. Front view. Silver grille and wing mirrors added. 2. Overview 3. Side & rear view. 4. Side view with tailgate open 5. Rear view with tailgate open and down 6. Top view with roof of cab removed to show the inside of the now widened up sleeper cab with bed. A minifig won't fit though, but I'm happy with this.
  3. I imagined as much re the SNOT sections. I tried quite a lot of those, but for the sake of a more rigid build decided to implement some more rugged, but also a bit less detailed solutions. I had another solution in mind for the front bumper/lights combo, but lacked the neccesary bricks for that. Same goes for the sides of the sleeper cab, where I wanted to use 1x2x3 plates but only have them in clear, not in the desired red. Having slept over it (again) I also have some other small altertions in mind, but again am not sure if I have the necessary bricks for that. It was a great build, and many thanks for the inspiration, Criga88!
  4. Tried to build it and encountered quite a few riddles and - well for me anyway - impossibilities, some caused by not having the right bricks, some caused by not quite understanding how you pieced yours together. In the end I decided the nose was too hight for me, so I lowered that. The bonnet can be opened, but I have not put in a mock engine yet. The sleeper cab is cramped and I decided not to put an interior in it. Anyway, this is what I have arrived at: Sorry for the crappy pictures, dark, phonecam, you know the drill...
  5. Nice! Might give it a try to make my own version of this...
  6. Legoland has it's own hotel, but it's a tad pricey. When we visited legoland last year, we stayed at Hotel Propellen in Billund, which is actually next to Legoland and easily withing walking distance. It was an Okay (not ok-ey) hotel, but nothing special and also a bit pricey for what you get. Restaurant in the hotel, but if I'm honest is wasn't a great eating experience. But that's the price you pay for staying close to the park. The period you're planning to go in is off peak so prices should be lower then.
  7. 31026 Bike Shop & Cafe has one too, barista style.
  8. I'm not a great fan of the expression faces, though there are some I like. There are, however, also quite a lot of them I simpy don't (really) like. Also, I've got quite a few doubles or even triples of faces, which kind of ruins the "uniqueness"... So, it's not a big surprise I like the classic faces in the Modulars. However, I also understand people that think them to be a bit out of touch with the rest of the minifigures that are around these days. If you are incorporationg the modulars in a City lay-out, the minifigures that come with them don't quite fit in with the rest of the population. But in the end, I am happy modulars have classic faced minifigures. And I wish all my minifigures had them and yes, that is nostalgia.
  9. Hah. Bought it for 59,96 today at their competitor in Zwolle (www.speelgoed.nl)... That's 20 euro less than the official RRP (and Intertoys).
  10. Grand Emporium is still available in the online LEGO shop.
  11. I bought 60033 last week. Put it together and within a few hours took it apart again. I bought it mainly for its parts and they found good use in some vehicles I was working on anyway.
  12. There have been price-differences between Euro-countries for some time now, but the differences are getting bigger. In this case the difference between the Dutch and the German price is 10 euro. That's more than 10%. VAT is comparable, socio-economic circumstances are comparable too. Luckely there are more and more Dutch shops that are able to sell sets at German prices or even lower...
  13. No? You should come over here then. Admittedly, firemen in majority are still, well, men, but there are quite a few firewomen over here too. As for this set: I'm interested to see how the set turns out, but chances are I won't be getting it. As for the feminist thing... I don't really think that was the intention, it was just a way of telling Lego some more female minifigs in all kinds of roles would be appreciated. And Lego is doing that already, we had that female firefighter, a businesswoman, a female garbagecancollector...
  14. They still make those small fenderpieces, albeit in a limited variety of colours. But remember: this is a Creator set, not a city set. And Creator also stands for brickbuilding things as much as possible, without using too many pre-formed parts. So this small car is a bit in line with that. Most of the cars that come with creator sets don't quite fit in with the regular City vehicles. As said: I've seen the box in real life now and am still not sold on it for the RRP. But I must say I kind of liked it, especially the little café. With a bit of modding it could fit in with my city layout after all and maybe I won't need Parisian Restaurant then. Hmmm...
  15. They at least stopped adding to the RRP for most of the sets. But it certainly pays to look around before buying...
  16. 80 Euro's in the Netherlands (well, 79,99 actually). Saw it yesterday at Intertoys, it is available now: http://www.intertoys...caf-601685.html (bad translation of "bikeshop" though: they translated "bikeshop" to "motorzaak" which actually means motorbikeshop...) Though at today's prices for Lego it is value for money, I think I'll wait a bit until it's on sale somewhere.
  17. I'm not too familiar with Paris, having been there only once (and seeing mostly white buildings), but in Londen there are quite a few. And over here (the Netherlands that is) there are some historical city centers that also boast one or more of those, that look not even that unsimilar to PR...
  18. Over here we don't have real post offices anymore. The last one closed over two years ago. The services have indeed mostly moved over to regular shops and almost every town has some sort of collection point at which some more services are provided. Lego has moved away from postal services also, it seems. In the past they had some nice postal services stuff, but of those there hasn't been one in a long time now. So, I'm not too shure thay'd do something like that. But it could be great, especially if they got some inspirations from the great ones we had over here: (this is actually the last Post Office that closed in the Netherlands, in Utrecht)
  19. Over here in The Netherlands the Kruidvat drugstore chain used to carry a small selection of Lego-sets for well below the "normal" prices. To be honest, most stores only sold those when they had a promotion going on, but those would come around every few weeks, so it was worth the wait for e.g. Great Vehicles to show up. But it seems they have switched over to the dark side: Playmobil. That said, the Action chain (which mostly sells left over stocks) now seems to have regular sales of Lego items, while they used to only sell the knock-offs. The thing I am most happy about, though, is that the leading toystores finally have stopped adding a little to the "official" prices, for example selling € 19,99 sets for €21,99. They now sell sets at the same price as Lego, and sometimes even below.
  20. #4207 for € 60,-! Had kind of an eye on it, but at the going rate of around € 90-100 thought it to be a bit expensive...
  21. I think the helicrane is pretty much spot on in comparison to the real thing:
  22. I kind of misread the title and when I saw the pictures I thought it was a VW LT Ambulance. Sizewise is would be a good fit, as this is about the same size as your Sprinter, which is a sister model of the LT.
  23. Well, they would know when production ends and that kind of is the first retirement date. Most people see the date it goes out of stock in the online shop after production has seized as the "official" retirement date, but even then there's a good chance a lot of shops still have one or more in stock. But it is usually that date when private stockers will up their prices, anticipating the "damn, I missed it!" rush. In reality there indeed is no real "hard" retirement date, as Faefrost says. At a certain moment it just will become less and less available. Anyway: at the moment there's no indication when production will stop. It might even already have stopped...
  24. Freeways? Hah! There are always some of them parked some 500m from here and they load and unload there too...
