Scroll down to the Technic subforum. We have quite a few Mindstorms people in there, and the Technic and Model Team fans don't bite.

No. The wings are not bent in 45 degrees. If so, then the wing top and bottom would be 90 degrees from each other, and they are most definitely not. Hold up something against the screen and check it yourself. SW junkies are always SO nitpicky about details, therefore I'm holding you to that same standard and it definitely isn't 45 degrees.

Relative value, whether PPP or PPmass, is only one part of the reaction when it comes to price. Ultimately, total price is what delivers sticker shock. 10179 had a great PPP value. That doesn't mean that seeing a LEGO set cost $500 wasn't a surprise, and it's relatively short shelf life suggests that it didn't sell well, even if it is now one of the most desired sets out there. $300 is a premium price point for Technic. Sure, it may be a fantastic value, it is still a bit staggering when that hundreds column rolls over. Most parents have no idea what the average PPP is, or even that the concept exists. They see a toy that costs $300 and react solely based on that number. The notion that sets in general have more parts, and thus cost more on average is valid. The first SW:TFA wave is a great example. In the past, there might be 1 or 2 sets at the $15 dollar price level for a new SW wave. The Fall15 wave had one at $20 and they went up fast from there. The average set price in the wave was higher, and the PPP for the wave was actually pretty bad as well. Remade models tend to have higher piece counts, with smaller parts and higher accuracy. The number of jumbo-sized sets is increasing, with SW UCS dropping multiple times per year, plus Creator Expert sets coming a bit more frequently, and sets in other themes like the Tumbler and Helicarrier and the Ghostbusters Firehouse pushing average piece counts up. Yes, historically speaking, PPP is relatively unchanged, but most people who see a price don't then whip out a calculator to check the price breakdown per component. It's the gradual price creep of complete sets that is starting to get people's attention.

Totally called the massive book when we first saw the set weight. Fortunately I have $100 of VIP points ready and waiting to offset the price of this. -
What's a 45-degree angle? The angle they curve inward or the angle of the shape of the wing in profile? Because neither was 45-degrees on the Revell models I've built, which tend more towards accuracy than LEGO builds do.

Really? Really? REALLY? Are you going to take the word of the most pessimistic / hyperbolic droid this side of Marvin in HHGTG? I mean, half his lines are about how they are all doomed.

Nobody is raving about the scoop in a new color in the space bulldozer? Then again, nobody called out the ridiculousness of the space bulldozer at all... Such a bizarre wave. How many sets do we not have pictures of now? -
Pretty sure that first victory is what we're going to see this December in Rogue One.

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors

...and I think you're probably going to end up being wrong on that assumption. It feels more like Rey is a new version of Luke, while Jyn seems more like a new version of Han. -
Would it, though? The prototype looked bigger than the final version to me, what with dual cockpits, etc. Plus it would make no sense to put Ahsoka in it, since it was actually Hera and Sabine that went to see Quarrie about getting help. ...so that would fit LEGO's pattern of putting minifigs in sets they don't belong, perfectly!
-
Since we've already had one Mon Calamari help the Rebel Alliance in Rebels, (Quarrie provides them with the B-wing prototype if you aren't watching the show) the story of how they join may happen in Rebels. Hmm... I wonder. Could Ahsoka come in a Blade Wing / B-Wing Prototype set as the retailer exclusive?

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors

Turn in your Star Wars geek badge for not recognizing moisture 'vaporators. Just based on the few seconds we've seen, I don't think Jyn is going to be a new Rey at all. Rey was pretty upbeat and a little naive despite her bizarre abandonment on Jakku, much like a young Luke was very naive and positive in his outlook, even if he was whiny about not getting to join up as quickly as he wanted. Jyn seems much more negative, less willing to help, jaded, and clearly a bit of a criminal... More like another fan fave: the scoundrel, smuggler, jaded, pessimist: Han Solo. -
No, but as the opening crawl for ANH states that the Rebels strike from a single hidden base, it stands to reason that the group is not all that large.
-
Interesting... I've seen all of them in theaters during the original runs. Star Wars was the first movie I ever saw in theaters as a kid... And it wasn't even A New Hope yet.

There is one problem with going too long with Rebels, though: with Rogue One being a prequel to IV and Rebels set firmly after III, there is a rapidly narrowing window where if the crew of the Ghost isn't killed off, then none of them being around in Rogue One starts to get weird, especially now that Hera is a ranking officer in the Rebellion.

Completely inappropriate for this thread, and completely awesome job on putting that together.

What if what we saw was her force ghost? I mean, there was absolutely no color to what I saw... Much like her white sabers.
