[MOC] Star Wars Episode VII- Looking for Luke
rollermonkey replied to samiam391's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm just amazed that you captured the Falcon in 5x4 studs. I don't remember seeing anyone going that small before. -
Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
rollermonkey replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
As Immo suggests, I would do that, but don't cut the thin part that goes in front. Make a slice down the center of the cape big enough to go over the head without tearing, then after it is closed up, more of the closed slice will be less visible and you maintain strength at the thinnest area. -
75049 Snowspeeder alternate build (B-Wing)
rollermonkey replied to SteveOC's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That's impressive. I never would have thought a B-wing could be made even half as well from that set! -
Do modern white bricks still turn yellow?
rollermonkey replied to ProducePrincess's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Beg to differ. My Sydney Opera House is definitely faded, and it has never seen the light from our sun. -
A Minifig to Represent Each Country? Help!
rollermonkey replied to kobalt's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I was going to suggest a plain orange torso with any legs/head/hair, and just say that Netherlands is playing in the World Cup that day. -
LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
rollermonkey replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I've never even gotten to the end of TCW, and I think she's an important enough character that I got chills when she showed up on Rebels. ...and as an OT fan who saw SW in the original theater run, I say this: If you aren't interested in seeing a resolution to the story of Anakin's first padawan, you aren't a real fan. Watch Rebels. It is well worth it. ...and I can't wait to get her minifig and white sabers, no matter how crappy whatever set she's in turns out to be. -
Resellers and scalpers never see anything wrong with buying up all the inventory of something, then jacking the price up. Their brains aren't wired to understand how that could be considered an unfair practice. I don't even try to convince them any more. Same goes for the guys who call TLG for free 'replacement parts' from sets they never bought in the first place, then complain when they get cut off, blaming TLG, not their own malfeasance.

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
rollermonkey replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wow. I was not getting Poggle from that piece. The back view is so drastically different. My point is why are there 'old/retired' LOTR parts and a purported new, unreleased part, being shown together? Seems odd. -
Wheel slippage
rollermonkey replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Heck, the way those boxes are loaded on that trailer, I'm surprised the wheels aren't actually lifting up off the ground. Ask any professional trucker, weight distribution is everything. Putting a couple battery boxes over the kingpin doesn't offset the fact that too much of the load is just way too far aft of the drive wheels. -
REVIEW: Architecture Skyline New York City (21028)
rollermonkey replied to Zusammengebaut's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well, the base is far from perfect, but with just the parts in box, I was able to rearrange the base to put them in geographic order. The fascia is actually helping to hold stuff together, but I can't figure out a better way without borrowing parts from outside the set. The weird part is that I have a new extra part: a 2x8 black plate. I had to use all of the extra parts that came with it, including 4 off-color studs under the jumper plates for Flatiron, and a 5th, on-color 1x1 plate on the front edge, but everything is in the right order, with 3 'missing' 1x1 plate sized holes out of sight on the bottom of the base, and 2 more under one of the 2x4 tiles. -
LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
rollermonkey replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I thought LEGO LOTR was retired? That Radagast the Brown is frickin incredible, are we sure these aren't someone's knockoffs? and if LOTR has ended, that'd throw everything in this picture into suspiciaon of authenticity... And what the heck is the thing in front of Unkar Plett? and the thing to the right of him? -

REVIEW: Architecture Skyline New York City (21028)
rollermonkey replied to Zusammengebaut's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm trying to build this now, but I want to put the buildings in order from south to north, with just the parts in the box... Not sure how it's going to play out yet. -

http://www.google.com No problem. -
I'm not sure why there is any surprise about this response from TLG... There is probably a dozen threads on this site where this has happened before. Don't be anal about prints, only use Missing Bricks when a set you've bought is actually missing something, and call them when you have large orders. I've called a few times when I was trying to build a discontinued set, or large MOC, and when you speak to a real person, they understand that. When you mostly use the web service, the computer just flags based on whatever algorithm they have set up.

Here's my $0.02: Ok, so PAB didn't have what you want. What did you do next? Did you go to BnP? BL? Or maybe got on here and posted about it? All perfectly rational responses, but... They do nothing about the problem itself. Going to BnP or BL may have gotten you your parts, posting about it may have relieved some tension or anger. But TLG has no idea that you had a problem if you didn't tell them. And if nobody tells them about a problem, they won't think they have a problem that needs fixing.

42056 - Porsche Speculation
rollermonkey replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, who stole your sunshine? Either that or it seems like you're trying to convince yourself that you won't like the set no matter what. Any or all of the things you've listed could be in there. We really don't know either way. Also, just because something has 4-wheel steering, does not automatically mean it has to have three modes, too. Once upon a time people reserved judgement until we actually had all the pertinent information. I still try to. -
Wow those boat hulls are WAY bigger than the ones I had in the 80s.
-
Phantom Limb Level Pack? Sounds like PS4 owners will learn more about Threepio's red arm.
-
I still can't get over the people who refuse to watch it. They're really missing out.

I just got one of the UCS Hailfire Droid wheels for a MOC yesterday, and it made me wonder: Not counting baseplates? What are the largest LEGO components they have ever made? I don't even know how or where to look something like that up.

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
rollermonkey replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The time window for new vehicles in Rogue One seems awfully short between Rebels and ANH. I would be very surprised if we get much new outside of whatever Bothans own. -
Nope. I'm not making 3 Hailfire Droids. All 6 will be used in one model. And yes, I will be doing a thread whenever I get it done. Now, back to your fantastic MOC!
