  1. Huh? It has the new round pieces, not the small ones on the MF... It looks like it should be almost as wide as the UCS Slave I. Never mind. I just looked at the Slave I again, and you're right, the AAT won't be very large. Shame, that seems to be a general trend, sets are getting smaller and prices are going up.
  2. Wow! That's a BRUTE! I love it! ...and they thought that Mount Tipped-table could never be conquered.
  3. Gotta disagree with you. UCS sets typically have some functionality... Like the Imperial Shuttle's folding wings or Artoo's legs, head and armature. Gzzig, any chance you'll put this on Ideas or make instructions?
  4. I think the smallest bar is 3L, and even that isn't super common, AFAIK.
  5. Skyhopper is 30 Euro. I'm sorry, but 27 Euro for Ezra's Speeder set looks like a ripoff.
  6. Not nice to tease something like this without links. I've seen the W14/15 Star Wars wave, I'm ready to see Technic now!
  7. I'm guessing it uses red 2L axles to transfer power between levels. (I can just imaging how much fun it is to get them to line up as you stack, and how often they will be on the wrong side if you want to change order of the floors?) Very cool, but did you want to spend $250 for TH to get all those rack and pinion gears, motor and battery? People already gripe that it was $200. Prelims from the 2015 retailer catalogue are starting to leak... maybe we'll get an update soon?
  8. Thanks! Looks like Vader is out and all Winter wave boxes will have stormtrooper art. Rebels? OT? Seriously, I cannot see why this is such an issue for some. It's a stormtrooper, and clearly not anything else. The Imperial army must have made some minor modifications to the armor in the years between. Maybe a different contractor got the bid when the previous source raised prices as a quiet political protest... Maybe the troopers in OT have new gear they are unfamiliar with, and that's why they are such poor marksmen? ;) I thought the consensus was that Anakin's Custom being the blue one was least likely? Chibi ATAT is too awesome. I wonder if it plays fetch and will let me pet it? Snowspeeder looks ok... The rest of the microfighters do nothing for me. T-16 exists... But getting a Tusken will be nice. TIE Advanced must be a very early prototype, it looks way too small to be in scale with the most recent standard tie. Shadow Trooper looks like a no-brainer purchase. ITT looks like a LEGO/Chibi version of the Kenner toy... Who cares? 4 Stormies in one set! I never watched TCW, so to me, all those vehicles blend in with the PT stuff. As it stands, to me, it looks like a nice balance of sets between the different series. The AAT looks like it's using the same 'new' (I don't have any yet) big quarter-rounds as the Slave I, but in tan. Those will be nice for Tattooine MOCs.
  9. I can see that they aren't exactly the same, but the difference is not so drastic that I'd rip my hair out over it... I'm guessing the one on the right is Rebels... Doesn't look sad to me. Looks like a scowl.
  10. This. There is probably more activity based on licensed properties outside of the Licensed subforum than within at this point. The problem isn't the stuff outside, it's the ones that remain. There is already one hodgepodge subforum, Special Themes, and in some of our minds, there doesn't need to be two. Princesses live in castles, whether they are Disney or not. Superheroes are action heroes who live in cities, and the dinosaurs chasing people in Jurassic Park are the same as those that chase people outside of it. Sacrilege perhaps, to suggest that Licensed is a superfluous subforum, but unless there's a legal reason for it, it is.
  11. Welcome to 1980-something LEGO robots! They always had that problem.
  12. It certainly doesn't help the impression about SW fans that people who comment are more often more likely complaining than complimentary.
  13. Seriously. It's not like you can hold him not using the wheels against him... It's a helicopter made out of a farm tractor... Right?
  14. At first I was all: "A tank? Another one? Sigh." Then I was all: "Oh? Sariel made this one? I guess I'll check it out, but I probably won't like it." Finally I was all: Wow. That's amazing work. Bravo. Is it too soon to nominate Sariel for HOF again? Heck, this could be in both MT and Technic. I'm also trying to figure out what the 9 motors control... Heck, where did you FIT 9 motors in there? 35 centimeters isn't all that much space and that V-12 motor block is a huge portion of that volume.
  15. It's fantastic. Don't second guess yourself until you have to pay BL prices.
  16. Very nice! I, too would like to see a pig suspended over the set. Was it not possible to do similar SNOT windows on the near end of the building on the lower portion? I think two trans-clear 1x1 or 1x2 plates would be perfect, but I'm also not certain if it could be worked into only 4-studs space... Unless you could go into that 5th stud from the corner somehow...
  17. Functional: goes up and down easily Doesn't interfere: the floors still come apart
  18. Because too many SW fans care WAY too much about these tiny details. See also my mini-rant the other day about SW fans generally never being happy with anything. Ever.
  19. SMC is saying that licensed goes in Licensed isn't consistent because Juniors has content that is licensed (Batman, etc.) and content that isn't, but it all gets lumped together. With several lines that didn't get lumped into Licensed, PotC, LotR, SW, etc. the fact that some of the other themes that could get placed elsewhere, but don't is inconsistent. The problem is that there are a dozens licensed and non-licensed lines now, many defunct, and there is lots of overlap, between individual licensed lines and between licensed and unlicensed lines. It has to be nearly impossible to keep it sorted even as well as it is, and it's nearly impossible to move something once it has been placed initially and users start populating a sub-forum with topics. I have a 4-year-old daughter, so Friends and Princesses are well and truly blended in my house and in my mind. Putting the two in different places would be frustrating if I was a fan of them, and fans of one are very likely to be fans of the other. I'm already in 4 places, since I like Architecture and Creator Expert (Special Themes), Modulars (City, even though they are Creator Expert sets), Star Wars and Technic. In all that I see people posting Friends MOCs in Special and City, Steampunk MOCs show up all over the place (technically, it's sci-fi), Mechs show up in Special and Star Wars, and I'm sure Sci-Fi, too, etc, etc. Sometimes it IS kind of annoying, but I can also see how difficult it is to differentiate when the lines and people's tastes and imaginations are as varied as they are.
  20. I mostly bought mine for the book. I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't opened the bags of bricks. That said, I won't be buying a second, but it's odd the changes in the packaging are so drastic.
  21. "Licensed" seems to work the other way... When LEGO gets the license from outside. When the first topic was made, nobody had a clue what the movie was going to be about, so it got dumped in Special Themes. I'd like to think it would have gone to City if people knew more about it earlier.
  22. I know a guy who has sold hundreds if not thousands of DVDs without ever paying for the music thereon. He has also uploaded these to YouTube, and monetized them. He's not well liked, so people try to get YT to takedown his video, but it never works because they aren't the rights holders. If you can prove that you got the music from a different source, you should win easily. This same jagoff now takes videos from other sites, like news feeds, company generated contentetc. rips it all to YT and monetizes all of it. At this point, if anyone links a video of his, I know without a doubt that it's copyright infringement, so I refuse to click through, no matter how badly I might have wanted to see it. If YT takes down your video, the other guy may actually be a legitimate rights holder, as nobody else is ever successful at getting videos taken down.
  23. Those custom-tooled aluminum bricks would look incredible for this. Too bad they are crazy expensive.
