  1. As an update, the large plate I was thinking, (and the biggest Duplo piece I know of) is 8X16, not 12X18. That's still a pretty darned big brick.
  2. Phantom - couldn't have that big open area on the back of my ghost, now, could I?
  3. There probably isn't much consensus, because even the $0.10/piece is debated ad nauseum. Duplo are even less appropriate to this discussion, because as the average piece size is so much larger, the difference in size between different pieces is also magnified. How does one reduce bricks of such disparate size, shape and complexity (yes, even in Duplo) to a single number? Particularly as AFOLs are extremely unlikely to be buying individual Duplo for their latest MOC. I have a 4-year-old, and many Duplo sets in my house, and I wouldn't even be able to hazard a guess what constitutes an "average" sized brick in that line. Plates run from 2X4 through @ 12x18 and bricks are 2x2 through 2x12 IIRC. Special pieces like slopes, columns and doors are all odd sizes, then there's slides, towers, and more. Then there's the printing... So many unique printed pieces... And now with licensed sets popping up in Duplo? Yikes. I'd guess individual bricks, new from BnP probably range from $0.75 to $5 or even more. That would actually be a great way to figure this out, now that I think about it.
  4. It hasn't happened yet. Yesterday was the worldwide FaceBook announcement of Slave I... After the convention announcement on Saturday.
  5. That makes sense. Thanks, Jim.
  6. Alisdair, what is the 'gg' you post after the HoF entrants? Recently you had a few of them back-to-back, and it reminded me to ask.
  7. I just want to know what the next Creator Expert set will be, and when.
  8. It was the same thing with the LEGO Architecture FB page earlier this year... They milked out a big reveal for the Trevi set over several weeks, months after it had been released in Europe and anybody who would bother to actually follow that page already knew about it.
  9. By January 1st, I expect a picture of all the iterations of Slave I.
  10. Big surprise! People clamor for months on end (or years) for a UCS Slave i, and when it's finally revealed, it isn't good enough for some people. It's no wonder why TLG doesn't give fans what they want. Even when they do, they can't win with some people. If you don't like it, don't buy it and MOC your own if you're such an amazing designer, and furthermore, quit asking for anything, just make it yourself, every time. /rant
  11. Having been in the Navy and been around LCACs a fair bit, I think the OP underestimated the massive amount of force/horsepower neede to lift a hovercraft. Think: multiple gas turbine engines on an aluminum hulled craft... Hovercraft are technically flying. That requires a lot more pressure under the skirts than the pneumatics will be able to deliver. The larger or heavier the craft, the more volume must be filled at higher pressure.
  12. I think I know what he's talking about... At the 59-second mark of this video, and on the side of the helo, there's what is issentially a DBG 1L liftarm. On the helo it's on the trans-clear blue wheel next to the cockpit canopy, and in the video it's pinned to a white liftarm on the left side of the garage.
  13. That depends on your country, too. The 'sale' in the US was pretty limited in scope and sold out quickly online and in stores.
  14. Why not lay down the BB or put it in the bomb bay?
  15. The last 19 seconds before it has sold out permanently. At least that's how long a "sale" seems to last on any SW sets from what I've seen.
  16. TH supposedly hasn't sold as well as the rest of the line, and more than a few people have been told by LEGO store management that they are not able to order more of TH. That has been mentioned in this thread several times the past few months... But it's still a hypothetical. That said, I'd stop procrastinating and get it if you want it. The price isn't likely to drop.
  17. Here's a theory: What if both rumors are correct: Grand Emporium is retiring, AND Town Hall is retiring, at roughly the same time? Could that mean we'd start to see a 2-a-year release schedule, as LEGO Star Wars UCS sets seem to have adopted, or conversely that the line is bloated and how many will be available at one time is being scaled back?
  18. Not that obvious... I didn't notice it until it was pointed out to me. :/
  19. Why do people think the single piston block will be chain driven? There's not even any reason for there to be a piston at all... If I were to guess, the block just represents the engine.
  20. I just compared the trooper in the Ghost to the ones in the ISD yesterday. Rebels has a deeper frown and brighter blue markins on the sides of the helmet. The chin marking is slightly different, too. If you break out a micrometer, the eyes are slightly different. On the torso and legs, the print on the ISD troopers is darker and not identical. That said, from more than a couple feet away, the differences aren't actually noticeable, so if you wanted to army build, say for the Emporer's Arrival scene, I really don't think it would be glaringly obvious to most people. The hate the Rebels trooper is getting is way out of proportion to the actual differences, IMHO. Nobody in their right mind would think they aren't both Stormtroopers.
  21. Being a former Navy guy, I'm not well versed with ground forces, but this isn't the vehicle usually referred to as a Tiger Tank, right? Also, you want crazy superheavy artillery? When are you going to make a Landkreuzer P. 1000 Ratte, Panzer VIII Maus or better yet (IMO), Krupp's Schwerer Gustav or Geschütz Dora. Now, them some big guns.
  22. Suzuka Circuit has a 24 hour race, too. Don't be so Eurocentric.
  23. OH MY GOD THAT SLAVE I IS AMAZING! The cockpit seat rotates between flight and landing modes? The fins rotate automatically! The bottom is far more detailed than anybody could have dreamed... ...and it looks amazingly sturdy, which is a huge improvement over certain other models. Bravo. I guess I know where I'll be on January 1st, and I've never actually been a Boba Fett fan, but I still want NEED this..
  24. Ah, but they have done it before. Architecture Studio sold at $150 at all outlets that carried it (B&N, LEGO stores, and S@H) until it went out of stock. When it came back to LEGO stores and S@H, it had gone up to $160.
