  1. This looks amazing and very fresh. I am a bit confused on how it works with 3 sides, doors that mean that one side has to fight 2 battles while the other 2 factions fight only 1 each? Are Ulundus and Al'Esterbroke excluded from the conflict? The PGTC board of directors is split on this one. Of course we stand for peace and prosperity. To the Duke that means the peaceful reunification with Ulundus which is now part of Kaliphlin. Rasputin's time with the mad monks in Arrakheen has convinced him that the Desert King is the best choice, and Rasputin is still out Chairman and CEO. A sizeable faction on the board thinks peace is not compatible with prosperity in the current environment, pointing to the outsize returns in our soft commodities trading division in the recent famine. This faction prefers the status quo because it will prolong the war and increase profits. @goliath your home city is in the heart of Desert King territory?
  2. So the Ulundians want to give away Kaliphlin territory? Interesting
  3. At last we hear from the king! All these factions and politics are making my head spin. This is such an amazing set up
  4. It's your Lego, do what you like. But please be careful of your fingers!
  5. Superb posing and presentation Kai. We have no quarrel with either side or faction, and we welcome the enlargement of our economy and trade routes.
  6. Great builds and photography Mike. A house divided against itself.. Would be better than this! Don't look at me like that. You all like the skyfruit, don't you?
  7. That Johnny Thunder picture is rather interesting. The 1922 date is when Howard Carter opened the seal and unleashed the curse of Tutankhamen. That sets things up perfectly for Jack Raine and Pharaoh's Quest, and gives a definite real world parallel plot timeline.
  8. Beautiful shaping, what a superb use of flex axles and panels
  9. If Kaliphlin's trading networks have broken down so badly that we can't even use our wealth to buy food, it's all over before it begins. Great set ups and builds guys!
  10. Great build Gideon. I'm less convinced on the economics though, by my reckoning Kaliphlin has quite a decent trade surplus and plentiful reserves, the granaries works have been fully stocked over the winter and it's not so hard to import grain. ... or is there something I'm missing?
  11. Great speed build. I like the detailing. Now I understand about the 3 factions. It's going to be fun!
  12. Beautiful landscaping from NM there. Flagg dead? How will the council of high lords deal with the power vacuum?
  13. Oh great story! Those figs are going to be expensive to build battle scenes...
  14. Beautiful! The gramophone is excellent. Very nicely done scene.
  15. Oh look, another new Kali Island. I wonder if it has any great strategic significance? Lovely new map!
  16. It's all kicking off! Very nice use of colors and a gripping story.
  17. Officially no. But what you can do is have a character in your story who is either based in or travelling in another guild, which solves it.
  18. Eruptions, landslides, sabotage....It's all very ominous...at least everyone is working together in harmony to rebuild...for now....
  19. Welcome Aymeri! What a fantastic introduction! You have made great use of those pink and purple PaB pieces! NM, I think Sultan's Gate can be added at the top of the escarpment. Thanks for your great work. Mike, great job. The Duke has a well stocked wardrobe of luxurious silks, I think he's pretty easy to distinguish even without his suit and the Lockhart body is probably quite expensive now. The one you have used is very suitable, I think it's what I used for Rasputin in book 1. This might be the last portrait of us as a group before all hell breaks loose in Kali and tears us apart!
  20. Welcome! These builds are all superb, +1000 free build points for Kaliphlin! I think you have built more for your introduction than I have in the last year
  21. We do have Elves as a new action theme, plus we have had Arctic and now Underseas explorers which are action themes within city, Ultra Agents, and super heroes. With Ninjago, plus some likely action oriented movie franchise and Scooby Doo, we have plenty. Chima has been a wonderful theme for minifigs and parts, and I am sorry to see it ending so soon. The fire and ice line has more potential in my view to go for a full on zoids style mecha dinosaur wave. The Chima line has been much fresher and more imaginative than Ninjago in my view for 14 and 15. However, Ninjago has far superior media support. I guess there will be no direct replacement, but if there is one I think it would be something like Exo Force with a mecha flavour. That becomes a gap in the range once Chima is over.
  22. ^oh I just saw that today. I just picked up a no-brand big hero 6 pack. The cover art was excellent, the figures are utterly terrible in every regard. Still, my little boy is happy with them which is what really matters. I really hope SY picks up on this and makes a decent version.
  23. Without getting into the girls vs boys debate (my son and daughter both like Friends and Technic) Lego is a pretty nerdy hobby and does not play to conventional stereotypes of masculinity. Many AFOLs went through a dark age and came back because of a particular set that appealed to their other interests, or because of having children. A lot of AFOLs are men. Giving Lego MORE of a muscular "manly" image rather than "geeky" is a reasonably smart way to increase the reconversion rate of latent male fans who are not comfortable with a nerdy self-image, as long as it is done in a niche and segmented way that does not alienate existing user bases or women. Of anything in the Lego range, big machines or fast cars would strike me as the easiest win to do that. I don't know how widespread this campaign is, but it looks to me like smart and testable experimental marketing.
  24. Great set up, Ska. Very poignant scenes!
