Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
robuko replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Oh no, really? But it's the Kali civil war next, your builds will be awesome. Sorry to see you leave, I hope everything is alright. -
Yes it is. Back to you!

Watching this right now

That bucket handle idea is fabulous, the use of chairs is great too. Very nice build and presentation, the statue and the ceiling frieze are real highlights. UoP +1 for mosaics

Welcome to Eurobricks BroZ. This will be a spectacular and massive project! You might want to try the 2x2 plate with the axle pin underneath, that would let you build the fenders studs-up. Or just use short technic 2 or 3 stud liftarms joined with a friction pin. Good luck with the build!

Yes indeed. And one day we'll find out what that watermelon was doing there. Back to you!

Woot! Easy one for you guys

What kind of budget do you set?
robuko replied to TheLegoViking's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I used to have a rule based on % income. Now it's more like % of remaining space in my flat! I don't worry about how much I spend on lego because I can usually sell it above cost and it's a very liquid asset. Actually, lego has been a pretty decent investment. I only worry about how much space it takes up. -

Which set is the one you enjoyed building the most?
robuko replied to BlackVagrant's topic in Community
I have hundreds of sets across most themes and I have enjoyed all of them. In recent years I think the minifigs have taken precedence over set design, so I'm just thinking about the build experience. My choices are: 8265 Front Loader which was my first studless technic set, and drew me back in with its wonderful quantity and complexity of gears. 8880 Super Car, a difficult build and a wonderful set both for function and playability. 6980 Galaxy Commander, pure magic as a playset 7066 Earth Defence HQ, made me feel 30 years younger when I built it -
I have a vague ambition to start MOCing in technic with RC cars in mind for my 4yo son. I have 8110, 8070, 8265, 8043. I treated myself to 42008 and 42029 for Christmas. Now I have a choice of 42000 or 42039 and I'm leaning to 42039. 42000 is EOL and 42039 will be available for a couple of years, I'm not really into F1 or white though. Is there any reason to prefer 42000? Thanks!

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
robuko replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
@cookiesdad Wow! Looks like something from Roke Island. Fantastic build and great story addition. -
Oh and I rushed to get this in! What do you hear? Category A, for the men. If there is an extension, I can submit a Cat C, otherwise it will just be a free build.

Of course there are all sorts of dwarves in Kaliphlin, but it is rare to see them carrying the full ceremonial battle regalia, especially when apparently venerating the shrines of their most warlike ancestors at 4 in the morning. Pharoah Aman Hotep II was a great dwarf, but his methods were...distateful. They say the sacred white ibises around his shrine still pick the bones of his enemies. But some of those ibises migrate a long way. Qi Lan the mystic, alone in her ice cave, has a certain facility with the birds and beasts. Despite her splendid isolation she is at the humming centre of Mitgardia's information trade, and she does well from it. "What's that you say, my lovely? The Kaliphlin dwarves prepare for battle?. We must tell the Jarl at once. Hedwig, you know what to do." Apologies for the image quality, I am travelling and without access to English language computers or editing software. I wanted to do a couple of things with this build - make it a double scene, and add a new dimension of icy mysticism to Mitgardia.

Happy new year all! Lele has copied the ultra agents figs.

Lone Ranger silver mine, Hobbit Lonely mountain, Chima Mammoth walker, Benny's SSS for me. 8634 turbocar chase, the city lighting repair truck, and the Arctic base for #1. I might pick up some technic sets too, we are on holiday in Japan and it is super cheap right now!

That blue and orange looks good!

My 4yo son loves this model. I like it too, although the wheel area looks awkward and I would have preferred flex axles there. It's just a model of a different car compared to the preliminary photos
-
That's good news. Maybe time to pick up the superman and spider man waves. The first SY version was beyond awful but within a year they are basically at 99% of Lego quality. So I won't write off any of the clone makes yet.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
robuko replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm not really excited about these, apart from the avengers tower which has a lot of classic space MOC potential. The dark blue on the quinjet is nice but apart from that, the vehicles are -
I was going to enter but I thought Slegnegr's banner was so perfect to the spirit of GoH that there would be no point reinventing the wheel, especially as it became more of a community effort. #3 for me! The other 2 entries are both great too.
