  1. Yeah I kind of feel the same about Bregir's which although it's a very nice build, it (to me) doesn't really look like Everlast or fit with the Everlast storyline. I think the lesson from the voting so far in a general sense is, the majority of people will go for the nicest looking MOC regardless of canon or story, or indeed how well the response meets the challenge. @Maxim I liked your response very much, especially the FP gate echoing Disco's, but I voted for Disco because I thought his build was better finished (mostly studless, lots of different height levels) and better presented (yours has those holes for windows). I really wish I hadn't "upgraded" my phone, the camera on the new one (Samsung Grand Duo 2, do not buy one!) absolutely sucks!
  2. Ha ha that is genius! Look at his face! om nom nom
  3. Great challenge. Quick question - B7 is already under guerrilla attack by the Desert King. What happens if the 13th is extinguished by GA before the challenge? Ulandus would have no forces in the area possibly by next week.
  4. A characteristically gentle treatment from the ratlord! Great build Jacob!
  5. Thanks very much Gideon! I am quite amazed by the quality and speed of building now in GoH, even for these flash contests. Some of these entries are worthy of winning a full challenge, and 32x32 is what we used for book 1. It's probably a bit intimidating for people with smaller collections or cheaper cameras. I hope we see more smaller challenges as they have lower barriers to entry and are more accessible for newcomers.
  6. Maxim, there's no maybe about it. It was done after the close of voting. I agree with you that this was thrillingly close rather than "decisive". However, changing the rules retrospectively because you don't like the legitimate result that came from them is poor practice. Changing them for future rounds, as Ska has done with all previous rule changes, so we all know what they are, is fine. Of course, we all accept Ska's decisions as final arbiter, but it is better if those decisions are made in a consistent maner.
  7. Maxim, the rules have been changed AFTER the voting closed. As of March 24 when voting had closed the rules read: If one side wins 50% of the popular vote in a three way battle, or 75% in a two way battle, the second place scorer from the side can pick an additional square that borders the battle zone, and claim the territory as an “Decisive” victor.
  8. 3/31 points to everybody!
  9. is restoring the rightful king of Kaliphlin

  10. This is very cool, I love the playability. Have you thought about joining Kaliphlin in Guilds of Historical? This would fit beautifully as the centre of a city!
  11. Great story, lovely build and the channel photograph is fantastic. My only suggestion is to use a non-white background when photographing white buildings
  12. Really outstanding presentation, your photography is first class. Great build.
  13. Beautiful colours and presentation as always Gideon
  14. Thanks for all your kind comments guys. I really don't enjoy rockwork (I have all the wrong bricks!) and there's not many places or people I would do it for, but I thought Maxim's Everlast deserved the respect. Those IAMS guys sure love a nice pair of jugs....of lemonade! Thanks blufiji, the credit for that must go to Maxim, I was just trying to channel his style. We promise you a safe ride home with plenty of food and lemonade so that you can save your loved ones from the Ulandian seige, and we ask nothing in return. We'll treat Everlast with respect and veneration until you choose to join us Great counter btw!
  15. Nice job Garmadon, the story is great and I can see why they missed it!
  16. Beautiful entry Kai, very original, resonant, and well built.
  17. I really like the muddy river, and the bridge details. The presentation is great, it really stood out on your flickr stream. The banana pig is a clever interpretation of Paul's design, I think it would be very slow and muddy with a route that goes in and out the river. It's nice to see the mummies cleverly fortifying the wrong side of the river to confuse those dopey soldiers.
  18. Perfect presentation and finish, I love the curve and the ancient vibe. Your frame treatment is outstanding as usual. Hard work to turn that screw though, all these guys will have one massive leg and very sore backs!
  19. Nice counter Bregir. Lots of nice action going on and good architecture, although I'm afraid your secret supply lines will certainly be discovered. I'm not really picking up on Maxim's Everlast vibe of secret ninja assassin fortress though, maybe what we believed was the dauntless and formidable brethren IAMS are all really members of the YMCA? Or just simple-minded farmers pointlessly ploughing the desolate windswept scree slopes of the Nocturnus border?
  20. Very nice shaping on the base and good use of angles. It's a great idea, very practical, and shows the nature of those Ulandian oppressors very well. Nice fig posing!
  21. Nice build Bregir. The diagonal offset looks great, the architecture is lovely, and the terrain is very nice. There are a few things that stick out a bit for me, and I hope this doesn't seem too critical as you didn't ask for C&C, but I think this build could go to the next level quite easily - the problem with using baseplates is that you end up with layers of colours that don't quite make sense, and there isn't room to put a frame around it. As for the waterwheel, it doesn't touch the water with this design, this could be solved by extending the spokes. Being on a reservoir, there is no obvious reason for it to turn. You could solve this by indicating a stronger directionality of water in the channel.
  22. Very nice idea and well realised too. I like all the greenery suggesting leakage at the sluice. The espionage scene is great. And your dog will make a very tasty kebab!
  23. Nice work on the DK scout and the baseplate rockwork. The first photo is very dramatic. I'm guessing you are working with a limited amount of bricks at the moment, the studs out design is nicely creative
  24. Thanks for all your kind comments guys. The water-wheel driven bucket pump was a "logical" solution I am quite pleased with the way the chair chain has turned out, but I have realised that from this angle it is quite hard to see the flow of the water down the auxiliary channel to the acqueduct, and the mechanism that tilts the bucket is invisible, as is the ladder to the wheelhouse on the other column. The reality is, I was under a lot of time pressure to complete this as I was about to get on a plane, so it just didn't get the level of finish it needed. I should have added another layer of tan on top and tiled it off. I agree with the comments that the bottom right corner is empty and plain, I planned to stage the gruesome battle there but simply ran out of time. I am not very bothered by it though, this is supposed to be a remote outpost in the desert and there is room for empty space in this type of composition. In retrospect, I should have left the flag out.
