Here's Djonni! Warzone (WZ4:H9, Desert King)
robuko replied to robuko's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks guys for your kind comments Thanks Jacob, it's a little overedited but I liked the saturation on the blood and guts. The base is 7x9... plus blood! -
Really excellent landscaping and foliage, the irregular base works well here.

Just endured the Hobbit Battle of Five Armies. Beautifully over-produced and photographed rubbish. The overwhelming fearsome Gundabad army barely showed up, the dwarves and elves and humans were all hopelessly overmatched but somehow won, and the Eagles got 10 seconds of screen time. Looked great but it was rubbish. 4/10

There was only one clear way through the dense reeds, that nice little path by the willow tree. The Ulandian scout was so busy clearing his clumsy way through the undergrowth, he didn't notice the faint rustling noises in the reeds until it was too late. That is the penalty for straying into the Desert King's lands.

There's only one thing that Djonni Reekoh likes more than killing bugs. And that's going totally berserk on bugs in a ruined city.

I think this is really a perfect entry. Composition, subject, building techniques, colour and minifig elements are all first class. I will be amazed if anyone does better for this battle.

Ask not if God is on your side. Ask if you are on the God's side. Or perhaps you prefer the company of cockroaches?- 272 replies

Nice try Kai. The great city of Perigora will not fall to your evil forces without a fight. Ulandus struggles to muster support because your cause is unjust and illegitimate. And Gabe, you should totally join the Desert King- 272 replies

I am concerned that the points for guerilla mocs are so much higher than the official war zones, basically regardless of quality. Who amongst us has the ability to set up chatrooms? Is it only regulators and mods? Could I beg Z or Rogue to set up 3 chatrooms please? -

While the Duke supports Ulundus and the majority of the Board are of course for the High Council, Rasputin has openly declared for the rightful King of Kaliphlin. The PGTC must support him or face the consequences.- 272 replies

A King Reborn (Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 18)
robuko replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Bravo Ska! Rasputin pledges for the rightful king of Kaliphlin. Long live the Desert King! Still I have 2 questions. What's the story with the Desert King and Ulundus? And what is that beautiful shade of blue behind the big gold swords? -
Very nice build, lovely use of texture and the colour palette is very suitable. Great detailing too.

Dr Cogg has a city on the north coast and Clawbreakers is a major settlement, so go ahead blufiji. The Goolag archipelago has had a few Kaliphlin settlements and is technically Kaliphlin I think, but it's a pretty lawless place and they won't bother too much about your passport up there. -
Amazing Luke! Another first class build from you. The recoloured leaves really set the mood here. Wonderful!

Before I go to sleep. Fantastic cast of Mark Strong, Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth all excellent as usual. The set up is conceited and the story is disappointing, basically a bad version of memento. 4/10. Dr Strangelove. Excellent acting, directing, camera work, sound. A truly remarkable film about war. Stuff crazier than this seems to be happening everywhere now. 10/10 Gone girl. A well acted and directed thriller. Predictable plot twist but nicely done. Ben Affleck was good in the role. 6/10. Birdman. Excellent cinematography and interesting, unconventional story with a stagey feel. Michael Keaton was pretty good, Edward Norton excellent and all the female characters were good. Deserved the best cinematography oscar but not the best film of last year, I probably wouldn't watch it again. 6.5/10. Out of Africa. Beautifully staged film of memoirs of 1920s Kenya. Meryl Streep was outstanding. The script, music, and directing are very good, although the story felt unresolved. I guess life can be like that. 8.5/10 The expendables 1-3 Stallone and friends having fun blowing stuff up in movies about Stallone and friends blowing stuff up. Extremely violent but very good within the genre. 7/10 each. Yes, I am rating these higher than Gone Girl or Birdman, because I would enjoy watching them again.

Welcome Adair, great to have you with us! Nice story for your character and I look forward to seeing how he develops. Gabe is the lord of Berigora, so please be sure to check with him before making any major changes to the city It takes a while to get used to the Eurobricks interface but you can always go back and edit your posts to clean them up. -
Disaster Relief (Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 16)
robuko replied to SarahJoy's topic in Guilds of Historica
Now that's a forced perspective! UoP +1 for that one. The desert landscaping looks great but I am not sure what to think about the use of clone parts to achieve it? So, who will be the first to raid this juicy morsel of a caravan?- 19 replies

Challenge IV, Category C explained. RULES THREAD
robuko replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
@Milo that's a fair point. I am definitely one of the relative pacifists here anyway so I have thought about this. If I side with the Council, I will be doing guerilla bribery and subterfuge rather than attacks. -
