  1. Wow is this impressive looking and the proportions look correct. This blows the Porsche away already and we don't even know what the functions are. I assume that you have seen the model? Or possibly got your hands on one?
  2. Or maybe this disc that we are all speculating will actually be a new hub part different from what we had seen in the video. I guess anything is possible.
  3. I would say the chances of working brakes on this model is about 0%. More than likely as mentioned numerous times, a 6 hole part resembling a brake rotor to connect the wheels and possibly some regular bricks for calipers. I just hope the steering and front suspension are better than the Porsche. If Lego does stick to the real car specs and makes this all wheel drive like it should be, I expect the steering radius to be pretty bad.
  4. The large majority of people in this world like cars as they are a part of their every day life. While things like a forklift may be fun to build and play with, most people are going to gravitate towards something that they are familiar with. Not to mention, what is easier to market and hype up to a large crowd of would-be Lego consumers? A 3,000 piece Forklift or a 3,000 piece Lamborghini?
  5. So the model is going to debut and go on sale on the same day? I think that a car was in the first run Technic models. The large majority of Technic models are not supercars or even cars at all.
  6. Yeah, as you add the weight of the body, it is going to get worse. Good Luck though. I'll be keeping an eye on this project!
  7. I wonder how well those 2 Large motors are going to move that vehicle having to travel through that complex gearbox.
  8. Hopefully the gearbox works a little smoother in this one. I had some friction issues in Koenigsegg to the point where I gave up on it.
  9. The sign at the Genava auto show said that it will be available at Lego shops in May.
  10. So are you actually done here, or are you just going to stick around for the drama?
  11. Even though it isn't even finished or physically built?
  12. You're the one that came in here acting like you were God's gift to Technic building. I remember last year someone either here or on Facebook saying something to the effect of "Everybody and their mother wants to be a Technic Rockstar"
  13. Styling wise, it has a bit in common with crowkillers new car.
  14. If you think that it's dodgy stuff (even though it was presented by one of the top Lego designers) then I guess there is nothing more to discuss with you about it.
  15. It's a real thing. TLG has broken some of these rules themselves over the years though. Any technique that can potentially damage a part by stressing it would be considered illegal. In a torsion bar, it's not so much the axle getting potentially damaged, but the axle holes of the parts that it is inserted into.
  16. There is nothing negative about pointing out something that people may not recognize. If I build a model that requires the use of an illegal method to get it to perform properly and someone says "Let's see if TLG can top this" why can someone else not point out that Lego doesn't need to top it because it is considered illegal by TLG(and many others) standards? It just gets old when people see a few pictures and say "The bar has been raised" without actually looking into what they are referring to.
  17. Holy cow! That is amazing.
  18. Ok, first off, the supercar that you are talking about was critiqued on it's proportions after the builder presented his completed model in it's original Work-in-progress thread which in turn led to the builder going in and changing many things that made it look much better, and then he made a new thread about it. And now that model is being shared all over the internet, so critiquing most definitely helped in that case. As far as pointing out what the TLG group would expect of an official model, if not for people claiming "This should be a real set" or "Lego better top this" then there would be no need to point out the obvious areas of that moc that would not pass through TLG's building standards. When I see people make outlandish claims like this, it leads me to believe that they are a bit naive or just casual Technic fans. We have all built official Technic sets and we know the direction and style that Lego's designers build in, so it should be fairly easy to spot models by AFOL that follow these guidelines and which don't.
  19. I am not at all familiar with that set, Is the axle being twisted in a circular motion putting stress on the axle holes of other parts?
  20. I only make this point because people constantly use terms like "Raising the bar" or "Setting the standard" far too loosely. AFOL have the freedom to do what they please and that is fine. But when I see models(Not referring to this one) stacking way too many liftarms for chassis support, have parts being used in unnatural ways where they are being bent or stressed, using sloppy connections and are flimsy, or have a video where you can clearly see things don't work properly, and then see people claim in the comments that the "Bar has been raised" I just roll my eyes.
  21. Not going into detail about every little thing that would keep this model from meeting TLG's criteria, but one obvious no-no in this model that we would never see from an official Technic model are axles being used as a torsion bars.
  22. This is in no way a disrespect to Leviathan as I think that as an AFOL, he did a great job with a very difficult automobile, but a fair amount of this build would not meet The LEGO Group's standards.
  23. Looks better with the changes. Something is just a tad off compared to the actual car though. It's going to be interesting to see how Lego approaches the shape in their set. Also, doesn't having the steering links in front of the wheels give a reverse ackermann effect?
  24. Great job. This had to be a very difficult car to shape. The front windshield looks a bit strange where it meets the roof and some of the panels don't really flow along the macaroni technique around the wheel arches give it a bit of an earthquake appearance. I would be interested to see what it looks like without those pin connectors on the flexible axles. Love the idea of using those pieces for the side roof vents.
  25. It looks nice, but that thing hanging off of the rear end looks really out of place.
