Volcano RS Supercar
Meatman replied to Charbel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I like it a lot. It does look a little odd with the front end sitting up higher than the back. Unless that was your goal. The gearbox style reminds me of the crowkillers assassin. -
[WIP] Supercar in 1:8 scale

It probably sounds odd because I was replaying to his comment about the gearbox. -
[WIP] Supercar in 1:8 scale

Perhaps a similar design from maybe the Predator or before that the Vampire GT. You may have seen it in one of these models first. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=482973 This looks like it will be a fun model to watch progress. I really don't like the tumbler tires on it though. -

Someone once mentioned an easy way to make black bushings by cutting them off of the 3L pins. I am guilty of that.- 121 replies

Easily recognizable. Hate the build style, but it looks really good. -

There you go. You can clearly see the insides of the 8674 wheels are LBG and the outside is silver.- 179 replies

You heard it here first folks, the inside of wheel lost it's silver luster because it is 11 years old while the front stayed perfectly silver.- 179 replies

I already told you that some wheels are silver on the inside and some are only silver on the surface.- 179 replies

Well Mr Know-it-all, you are saying that LEGO DOES NOT PAINT PIECES. And that isn't true. I even showed you an example and you are trying to save face by saying that they are bleached or sun damaged.- 179 replies

It's highly unlikely that the insides of the wheels would get exposure to sunlight faster than the outside surface.- 179 replies

And what about the white edges on the black wheels from the 41999? Are those painted white or is that just printing? I know one of my wheels had some white scratched off. That doesn't normally happen as easily with printing.- 179 replies

I know that on one of my F1 cars that the insides of the wheels don't look like the front silver surface. I am very certain that it is the wheels from the 8674. When I get home, I will double check them. HERE someone is selling wheels from that set and you can see the inside is different from the outside. Do your wheels from your 8674 look like this?- 179 replies

Then how do you explain the front of a wheel being Silver and the back not? if they're molded in that color, then then entire wheel would be the same.- 179 replies

I am also pretty certain that the metallic silver wheels on a few of the large F1 cars (8674 and 8461) are painted silver. I bought a used 8461 and was trying to clean the wheels and rubbed some of the paint off of one. I also have wheels where the front of the wheel is silver and the back is plain.- 179 replies

I only asked the question about them being painted, because that was what I read somewhere back when the 41999 came out. The silver liftams from that set seem to have a slightly different feel to them than some other silver parts that I have.- 179 replies

Hmm. There were 2 pictures of a chassis on the technic facebook page 3 or 4 days ago, but I cannot find them anymore. Apparently they were deleted because I "liked" them, but when I go back to my history, they are not there. It was a front engine mount with what looked like a HOG steering in the rear and buttons made form liftarms on each side with springs, and there was a pointer in the middle(like a clock) that showed the gear. I am pretty certain that it was Paul's. He shared a picture with me last year of something similar to this, but this looks completely different. The suspension was also different from anything that I had seen before due to the shock placement. The center console shifter had 1 x 1 square R-N-D tiles on the driver side of it.

Both of these guys are building in completely different directions. The crowkiller models are much more lego like in their construction. This might not make much sense to people new to the technic theme until they build the models.

Probably the best looking supercar in technic history. You have taken the panels from the Porsche and turned them into something new and fresh. But....... The build structure is very sketchy all around. I think that you are rushing to get your models completed and need to take more time. Your roof and front windscreen have no support. I also feel that you should also have not used that small scale engine for a large 1/8 scale car and instead used the standard cylinders. They would have been perfect for a car of this scale.

Completely agree. I've noticed that generally most car mocs that have the best looking appearance usually have the weakest and most questionable build techniques.- 179 replies
