  1. Thanks glad you got some ideas from my CC interior too Yeah, there was no way I was going to pay that much for 50 1 x 8 bricks! So I ended up replacing them with 100 1 x 4 bricks at a fraction of the price! I've started building the first floor and it's sometimes a little dodgy in terms of the layers of bricks and keeping the build as strong as possible but you can work around it, and why wouldn't you for the saving (unless you're a purist and must have the 1 x 8s). And yeah, I bit the bullet for the red slopes too, I think in a way they 'make' that building so they're a bit of a must for the Cafe Corner. Keep us posted with your project, I look forward to seeing how it unfolds Happy building
  2. LOL! However, fantastic MOC, The foliage makes it look abandoned and I love the rock work and mine entrance, great work Happy building
  3. I echo most of the comments, the water and foliage are exceptional, wonderful MOC overall Happy building
  4. Good luck Wodanis!! I have done the same with Cafe Corner and Green Grocer, my Cafe Corner is complete (with a MOC interior as you are suggesting, check out my flickr page if you're interested, link's in my sig) and I received the final pieces for my Green Grocer just today, so I will be building it tonight And fyi, they did come out much cheaper although I had to make a couple of brick substitutions to keep costs down (and I was lucky to find a dark blue arch with play wear for only $10 ) Best of luck and happy building!!!
  5. Ahah, perfect!! This cinema will play all the artie movies the Palace Cinema won't play!! Good idea
  6. This is super cool very lucky kids. What I would have done to have something like this in my room when I was a youngen
  7. Ooooo this sounds exciting, I've always liked this layout and a bridge will be a great addition, I can't wait either
  8. Thanks paostmo, it's a great set, I loved the cinema before I MOD'd it. You'd probably be able to Bricklink just the cinema if you were really wanting it Cheers, medib Wow, thanks Dat Lego I really wanted it to be like a real cinema, so the two 'twin' screens downstairs and then the big IMAX style screen upstairs is like the big draw card (and because I have just bought the Palace Cinema, it needs a big draw card to compete haha) Thanks, I haven't thought about a name yet, but I should, as the Palace Cinema will soon be its competition, so I will need to differentiate between them, or at least the minifigs will Thanks LT, I was going for realism with the big screen and layered seating Thanks Andy, I wasn't overly happy with the interior when I finished it, but I was certainly going for an IMAX type look with the screen... The interior seems popular so I like it now
  9. Hello all, sorry to bump the topic but I have now added a second story on!! I was a bit disappointed with how the lower roof fitted in with the other modulars, so a second story has been added and it features a large IMAX style screen along with seating for 20 minifigs and a bar and refreshments counter! I've yet to put it into my layout but here are some shots: (more shots on my flickr stream) Here is an overview of the building And an overview of the interior, more interior and exterior shots on my flickr stream (link is in my sig) I hope you all like it and comment are always welcome
  10. It's looking good LT, I like the pavement Looking forward to the next instalment happy building
  11. Wow, yeah, that last picture is really interesting. I didn't realise this current Palace Cinema 10232 was a 'remake' of sorts.... Does this suggest we should be expecting a chemist and a bank in the modular series over the next couple of years....? I wonder.............. Thanks for the info LegoHistorian, fascinating stuff
  12. Very cool, but I am surprised you have made it closed in, I thought you were open back all the way....? It's looks great tho Happy building
  13. That is one impressive monorail station! I guess for the period a monorail would be a very spectacular sight, and thus a spectacular station is required. Lovely building and fantastic monorail to go with, love the layout too!! Happy building
  14. Amazing design and they look sooooo good altogether like that! Wonderful job! Happy building
  15. "And it's the black horse by a nose!!!!" That's pretty cool, and the stand looks great too! Does the same horse always win or is it totally random?? Great job and happy building
  16. This is a fantastic little scene. So much detail I love the landscaping and the forest, and the gas station is top notch, I love the interior of it. Brilliant build all up, and this seems like a very eventful little area I can't wait for more, happy building
  17. Cool, very authentic. Although I'm a bit worried about the lumberjack bringing his axe aboard, he should at least put it in a bag But MOC build overall!!! Happy building
  18. This is a great little scene, I love it I particularly like the blue bird you've brick built in the tree, really clever technique there!! Happy building
  19. AHAHAHAHA! But that's aside. I love this subway entrance, very clever addition to any LEGO town! And very well put together, I love the broken down bike that's a great touch! Well done and can't wait to see more Happy building PS, that fly cracked me up too!!!
  20. Holy WOW! That is absolutely stunning!! I really want it 'cause I live in Sydney and love the Opera House, but it's going to be sooooo expensive down here and I don't think it will quite fit in my town layout..... This might be the first set I ever buy for display purposes only (as opposed to displaying in my layout ) down the track....
  21. Lukeandahalf!!! Welcome to the town forum! And congrats on a wonderful MOD/extension, I love the diving board, that's a great touch! And are those 2 rats going for a swim or having a drink or....? In any case I look forward to more from you soon Happy building
  22. I echo laka and myself on ANZFOL, that photocopier is delicious and I don't know how I missed those desks on my first look, they're genius as well I too am looking forward to the gym, I'm very interested to see what equipment you manage to come up with! And wonder which genius on ANZFOL came up with the gym idea Happy building
  23. So I was curious as to my piece count so I just signed up to Brickset and I have just over 30,000 in sets plus I would guess at another 2000 or so in MODs/MOCs and I am no where near what I would consider 'critical point'. If however, I were to move to a residence where I didn't have a LEGO room, I may find myself somewhat overrun by LEGO.... But I wouldn't mind, and I certainly wouldn't stop buying LEGO. I think I will keep collecting as long as I have room to expand my city layout... And that right now has a lot of room for expansion, so Bricklink here I come I wouldn't disassemble my MOCs unless I really had to (ie moving or something) so I will just keep adding... And by the sounds of some of your collections, I have a long way to go
  24. Yes I agree, LegoDr, that does seem extremely high! I finished my CC for around the $500, but that in itself I believe was very high for a couple of reasons (1. My inexperience using BL 2. Living in Australia postage from EU and US is expensive and no PaB walls here!!) and I have just finished collecting all of the bricks for my GG (the last 3 packages are on their way to me as I type) which cost me around $400 incl postage but with the sand green 1 x 8 bricks subbed for sand green 1 x 4s..... Soo, to compare, even if I say it's cost me $900 for CC and GG incl postage, that still puts your average much higher, and I assume (given your user name) that you live in the US, your postage cost should be way down compared to mine... I think I would have spent well over $200 in postage between the two of them.... AND you still have expensive parts to buy..... Anyway, I guess if you prepared yourself to spend the money it's all good!! It's funny how us AFOLs returning from our dark ages have to get these modulars into our layouts, I don't why i find it funny but I do it's like a right of passage hehe So in conclusion: all the best Jersey Brick Guy, and i look forward to seeing your layout here when you have those last 505 pieces Happy building
  25. Fantastic building you have made there! I'm not a fan of police stations at the moment but this one is great! I love the second floor with what appears to be the forensic/evidence area, it looks great with all the different bits and pieces going on there!! And the cats on the roof are a great touch Happy building
