  1. There is printing- I think it's on backwards, so the printing is at the back- the printing on them is only at the front of the headpiece, so with careful photography, you don't see the printing, and thus it appears to be without printing. Doing it like that would adhere to the rules, so it's doable. Just my two pence, I could be wrong!
  2. Awesome, evil looking Black Spire sig fig Mr Breden!
  3. Isn't it just a backwards SW Zabrak (either Maul or Opress) headpiece? Looks like some clever photography angles, but I don't think it breaks the rules.
  4. Great castle, and snowscape! Plenty of snow high up in Nocturnus too! And we're the best guild!
  5. Great, and different idea for farming! I love the ground colour scheme too!
  6. Oh blessed pumpkin, grant me eternal boons by eating my enemies.
  7. I think to get the story started this one is a bit different, the next guild civil war will work as you've described. ZC said yes when I asked sorry can't find the quote at the moment, We have our invincible weapon- enchanted pumpkin pie.
  8. There is only one guild- Nocturnus. The rest of you are tribes we don't really like to acknowledge.
  9. For Lord Ssilyrrlith and the glory of Nocturnus! Let's do this then.
  10. Again the rock work is awesome, and those angles are great. Another amazing build!
  11. Mesa welcoming yousa to da Guild LimeBrick!
  12. They're titles, given out at random (there's usually a reason for it, like mine is in reference to a comment about geography I made a while back) by mods. Asking for one is usually a sure fire way NOT to get one.
  13. Great figs, I look forward to seeing them in MOCs!
  14. Welcome! Just make a sig-fig, give him/her a back-story and post the story and pic in this thread. Check out the pinned Nocturnus book II challenge thread, and read the rules for that. The theme is civil war, so if you sign up you'll be assigned a side. This theme will continue, cycling through the other guilds, ending with Nocty. Other than the main challenges, you've got the Kaliphlin mini-challenges, which are worth checking out (I think they earn you titles). Other builds (freebuilds), expand your character and/or the setting. There's no real rank system- other than guild leaders. In Kaliphlin I believe there's a bit of a democracy, with power assigned according to length of service in Kaliphlin. Look forward to your builds! Hope that helped, if anyone wants to correct anything!
  15. I shall probably buy 1, largely because I want the minifigures more than anything, but they're not destinies for LOTR. I could do with plenty of orcs, but that's what I'm going to use the ambush set for.
  16. It feels like a pretty small wave- I haven't felt TLG have pushed advertising for it, at least in my neck of the woods. Here they seem to promote licensed, city and at the moment, Chima (it was Ninjago before). My smaller local toy stores stock the full range of these, plus most of the friends, but there's a really poor showing for the castle lines, except for the Forest Ambush, they always seem to have loads of that (I've talked to staff and they say it's not a good seller compared to superheroes, action themes (which have a tv show to back them up) and the ever present police sets.). I wouldn't be surprised if the theme is a one wave release. On a more positive note, I bought a couple of the Forest Ambush sets after staring at the box for a while (I've been bricklinking oop sets and parts mostly, so this is my first official set since Mirkwood Spiders was released), and I was pleasantly surprised- it's made me seriously think about some of the other sets. Although overall as a theme, Kingdoms was better, as a MOC-er (mainly in GoH, and Nocturnus to boot), I've found, with a head swap, the Dragon Soldiers fit right into my theme. I'm not so keen on the Kings men, especially the one who has a half white, half blue torso, and two blue arms- he should have one white arm. I'll be interested to see if the rest of the wave holds up, and if it gets continued.
  17. I'd like to see them fight lego. And given animal-drawn chariots are not exactly a GW only thing it's pretty iffy. Plus different markets as well.
  18. This is so full of win, the builds are great! Nice trees! But what stands out for me, is the quality of the storytelling! Looking forward to more!
  19. Amazing! I love the scale, we don't see enough in this mid-scale!
  20. This is awesome! Love the enchanted pumpkin pie!
  21. Cheers Gabe! I was originally going to use the regular Genonosians as spider-riders, but that evolved into this, and the zombie geonosian worked better in terms of colour. I've taken on board what Emma said re presentation, I'm familiarising myself with photo-editing software. I'm practising at replicating bits of landscaping that other members have done, to help understand what techniques work. Before GoH and all the advice that comes with it, I would have built a castle with as many wall panels as possible. I've tried building techniques I would have never thought of before (I considered myself a pretty good builder till I found my way here!) and I'm a lot more pleased with my MOCs nowadays. I'm still trying to improve, and once I get some more white slopes, I'll cycle back to some snowscape builds (great thing about this book is the incentive to build in other guilds!).
  22. Cool MOC. Reminds me of a Mediterranean setting.
  23. Thank you, I was looking for that quote. Tolkein, whether he liked it or not was influenced by a lot of common mythology, from Nordic and Teutonic themes, through to Celtic tones.
  24. Cheers. They might end up in a MOC sometime soon.
