This is eigth week of Middle-Earth Madness. Minas Morgul is the new champion, but will it last? If you had to pick only one Dream set, which would it be? Minas Morgul OR The Gray Havens Just like last week, these are dream sets so there is no hard or fast rule on what has to be included in either. Imagine you had a chance to greenlight just one LEGO Lord of the Rings set based on a simple description. Which one would you want? Summary from previous weeks: Week 8 - Minas Morgul routes the Modor Battle Pack 25 to 16 Week 7 - Modor Battle Pack defeats Amon Hen 27 to 7 Week 6 - Modor Battle Pack defeats Lothlórien 24 to 14 Week 5 - Lothlórien defeats Prancing Pony 23 to 13 Week 4 - Lothlórien crashes Mount Doom 35 to 5 Week 3 - Mount Doom defeats the Rohan Battle Pack 14 to 11 Week 2 - Rohan Battle Pack defeats the Watcher in the Water 14 to 7 Week 1 - Rohan Battle Pack defeats The Green Dragon 23 to 4. Have a Dream Set to nominate? Do so in this thread. I still have a bunch of sets to go. [Moderators, can you convert this thread into a poll please?]

I am glad they switched from concludes to continues though.

The Dream set is as grand or as basic as each individual poster would like. My vote is for the Modor Army Pack since it could be great as an army builder. But in my mind, it has new helmet molds that could be used to make Sam and Frodo disguised as orcs while sneaking to Mount Doom. Minas Morgul does really speak to me but it would be an awesome with glow in the dark about $250 or more.

According to their website: Toy Fair 2014 will take place February 16-19, 2014 (Sunday-Wednesday) at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and showroom locations. The show hours are 10:00am-6:00pm on Sunday, 9:00am-6:00pm Monday & Tuesday and 9:00am-4:00pm on Wednesday. I doubt we would get any photos until the show closes on Sunday since if I was there, I would not leave early to post stuff online.

I am in favor of slitting the Marvel and DC 2014 threads up. I check a lot more than two threads on Eurobricks. But the joint thread causing so much off topic talk that it is hard for most of us to keep up with what is going on. If I don't check daily, I can be pages behind... pages of opinions on the comic books / TV shows / movies and not on the sets. No wonder people try to re announce things or ask what is new. Even if that was still going on, you would have less to wade through if you wanted to look up a specific item or rumor. I wonder though if the general members could submit actual designs of the banner. As long as the specs were posted I bet many of us have the skills to manufacture the images and reduce the effort for the staff. Then it might even be possible to have the banner image change through out the day (if the Pirates banner really does that, that is awesome).

I think you got the wrong thread. We already are talking about it in two other threads.

Lego Hobbit Video Game Exclusive Minifigure Announced
Blakstone replied to mrfootball's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I might get it. But like some of the others, I don't do console games. But it is a good enough figure and if I ever want to do a Hitchhiker's Guide Arthur Dent, I will need the torso. The likelihood is small but has not stopped me before. I wonder if my brother in law will go halvies with me just so I can get the figure. -
Future Castle sets - put your hopes and ideas here
Blakstone replied to Alfadas's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Ardelon, I like all of those ideas. Of course, TLG really needs to have about two factions in any given year. The key for me is that those factions feel compatable even if they are combatable. LEGO could have moved on from the Red Lions and Green Dragons if they want to the Black Falcons or Forestmen as an example. But the Blue Lions feel out of place with the red ones and the Red Dragons feel out of place with the Green Dragons. The last Kingdom's Joust looked to be a good bridge set reintroducing the Black Falcons again. -
Is there any rumors even of an exclusive minifigure for this years Blu-Ray release similar to last years?

This is eigth week of Middle-Earth Madness. The Modor Battle Pack is once again victorious. If you had to pick only one Dream set, which would it be? Middle-Earth Madness - Mordor Battle Pack vs Amon-Hen [Week 7]

Bag End is the most satisfying of those three for me. It is the only Tolkein set I have out. If I had my way, Helm's Deep would be on display too.

I am sure someone will take the cut scenes from LEGO The Hobbit game. Sure not everything will be bricks but even in The LEGO Movie there are a few items that aren't brick.

The secondary market has already passed that. You can try to get a low bid on eBay though.

The Witchking wouldn't fit in that set. I firmly believe they did this set just to use the eagle. Either to make the accounting of the new eagle mold exclusively for this set or to split the cost between this set and the Orthanc.

We are getting a third wave of Hobbit sets. It comes out in October.

I used to work for America Online and right after we bought Time Warner, I met with the Warner Bros VP for licensing to see if we could use Looney Tunes characters in our internal training. He explained their number one goal is to protect the brand. Does it show the characters in the proper light, is it risking over saturation? I agree that Warners Bros is not limiting the number of sets unless it is a bottle neck in their review process. But they are definately reviewing each minifigure to ensure that it represents the character properly. If there is a lot of back and forth discussion on a particular set, it make take up the time ncessary to get to other sets reviewed by the licensee.

I agree it was overkill to make three goblin prints for that set. Still LotR may have a different budget for new prints than Hobbit. I think it is a mistake to believe that the first wave of LotR lacks an army builder. True neither Tolkein theme has army builders as cheap as Star Wars or The Lone Ranger, but they are there. The Pirate Ship Ambush was a potential waste because it lacked a new Morder orc print. I would also have skipped Gimli in it since he was in CoE in the same wave. That would give us another pirate or orc. Notice though that the second wave of LotR lacked the retailers exclusive that the first wave had with Orc Forge. If we had an exclusive set, it could have added wall to Black Gate and provided more Mordor orc (w/ a new print perhaps) and maybe a generic soldier or two for Gondor or Rohan. If they had the budget for a new helmet mold, they could have done Gondor. Otherwise Rohan would do.

If by Lion Knights you mean the contemporaries of the Black Falcons such as in set 6062, then I am dead locked. The Lion Knights and the Black Falcons were so good because the complemented each other. In my room, neither was completely good or bad. Sometimes one would be the aggressor or the other. The Forestman would be rebelling force of the peasants in a Robin Hood scenario or a guerilla force against the Black Falcons. I really liked (and still do) that the heraldry of the Lion Knights looks British. I had been confused about the heraldry of the Black Falcons but my Mom suggested they were German. If I have to pick one, I pick the Lion Knight (version 1.0.0). I can't make a Black Falcon victory too easy.

I liked the Gandalf Arrives sets too. It disappeared from the shelves before before I could give one to my niece. I agree that it should have either been wide enough for two minifigs or had different axles so that it could easily be MOCed into a two seater. LEGO vehicles are frequently one seat wide. Both the first wave of LotR and The Hobbit focused on getting the main characters (The Fellowship and Thorin's Company). This wave of LotR did focus on army building one army: Uruk Hai. You can build quite an army them even if you just buy one of each set. As fans we always want more, but I think this wave was beautifully planned. I think fans might have been happier if the second wave focused on one theme as well. However, I stand by my belief that this wave was focused on getting the necessary molds for the Orthanc. EDIT: Fixed two typos

I just traded my Eurobricks Christmas Raffle prize of Star Wars minifigures for Aragorn in the Gondor tabard as well as the three Army of the Dead minifigures. None came with weapons but they were all free.
