This is lovely. I especially like the water/shoreline. Is anything connected there or is it simply gravity and a difference in under-structure height? LOL!

I love the tudor section and as others have stated, putting the tower at an angle was a good idea. The white legs aren't really working for me. I think 2 pieces of cheese instead of the legs would've worked better if you have them.

I'm in the same boat as Skyrimguy... Hoping to get something done this weekend. Fingers crossed! -
[Moc] Queens's carriage and Medieval cottage

Really nice. A minor nit, I think some smaller plates or using only one color with some 1x1 rounds thrown in would have helped the path out. The larger plates of different colors make the coloring a bit blocky to my eye. Love how you contained the pitchfork--sometimes it's an otherwise insignificant detail that I take away from somebody else's work, and I'll definitely be remembering this one! -
I really like the burned building, I'll be filing some of those 'burned' techniques away... Also, it seems to have been a bad couple months for peasants in Historica!

The wrong way to home ("protect the king") Castle Diorama

I absolutely love that round tower technique. Every time I see it I think to myself, "I need to buy a bunch of rounds and tiles and build one..." It looks really good with the surrounding landscape too! -
This is awesome. Love the cobblestones!

I really like how whimsical your MOCs are! You've got one of the richest color pallets around and for some reason it works. The only thing I'm not sold on is the smoke.

I think that's because the one in KC proper is a Discovery Center. They don't do VIP points either. Not cool. The one in Olathe (or Overland Park?) is a 'real' Lego Store and should have the cups and VIP, but I've never been there so can't tell you for sure. -
The natural sunshine really adds to this. Thanks for sharing!

I'm going to echo the comments about the awesome non-square border and say that it's awesome! Great solution to containing all those 1x1s and still keep an organic shape.

These just got saved to my computer for future reference. Great stuff!

Call me crazy, but I'm going to disagree on this point, but only because the shield has all those studs on it. I think the studs on the pedestal tie in the studs on the shield and without the studded base, I think we'd be complaining about the shield. My $0.02 anyway...

That bridge is awesome SK, and coupled with the angle you've built the structure on, the second castle in this story is your best work yet.

Looking great so far! This is probably the best LEGO castle gate I've seen, period. Nice and imposing, and I'm digging the portcullis + door. Can't wait for the tavern , hopefully it's a bit easier to break into

Nice job with that outdoor mountain scene, I really like how you've got the brick "built in" to the mountain wall.

The head looks really good too.

Guilds of Historica Introduction/General Discussion Thread

I agree with this completely, though I my opinion it only works really well with smaller MOCs. I like the 'frames' on larger builds, especially since they're usually built on a baseplate anyway. -
I like the bump, otherwise I would have missed this. This is completely awesome. Great little backstory, great use of Buzz's wings as er, wings, and I love the water falling off the map. Reminds of what I assume those flat-Earth people must think happens at the end of the map.

Double-jointed, don't see that very often. Spooky-looking on a human, sweet on a LEGO mech.

The landscaping is great, and that ship is awesome! Good luck in the contest.

I like the tan covering the siege tower and the half built catapult. Hope to see these used in Challenge VI somehow!

Sweet mech--and one I'm going to go build this weekend--but the flower stem pieces are messing with my sense of scale. Maybe flipping them over like the pine trees we do in Mitgardia for GoH would fix it for me, but I don't know, I haven't tried micro yet so I'm out of my element.

Nice rockwork buddy, and the fig posing is well done too.
