Those bright green leaves in the tree work well for spring, I've never thought of using them before as they're *really* bright. Thanks for showing me otherwise.

Thanks Ecc! (I'm getting better with GIMP...) I can't wait to build it! Hopefully this weekend

I like where this is going, keep it up!

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
mrcp6d replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
False. We get an excellent education. This is proven by the fact that we use pictures very often. You see, it's an efficiency thing with a picture being worth a 1000 words. Also, pictures are multi-lingual. Therefore, one can say that Mitgardians are the most intelligent of them all. Lucky dog indeed. I'm not so much an IPA fan, but agree with the Dogfish Head = delicious. -
The "crumbliness" of the structure is really well done and I like your work with the modified 1x1's a lot.

On the landscaping, I'm a big fan of using white curved slopes for snow. Snow isn't flat so the curves work well and the no-studs look of the slopes gives a very nice contrast to a well traveled path built with studs showing, furthering the effect. I'd stock up on 1x3 and 1x4 curved white slopes for snow as well as some white tiles. Here's some examples: Mine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrcp6d/8328712360/ soccerkid6's: http://www.flickr.com/photos/66620538@N04/9667375116/

Well, those are plenty disturbing... Great addition to Nocturnus for sure! Though the focus of these is supposed to be the tribe, I wish I could see a bit more water on the base.

lol, they both have beards! Thanks! It's a nice bandwagon, I highly encourage riding it for a while Thank you! Thanks LD, kind of struggling with what a wizards' training ground might look like, but I've got a couple fun ideas I think. Thanks, I was trying to make it fairly dynamic. Yeah, most of the Phase 1 builds seem like they could very easily end up being 'figs on a plate', I was trying to avoid that as much as I could while keeping the small foot print. Love the curved slopes for snow!

Phase 1: Sparring: Trying out the clear plates and olive leaves bandwagon! I think there's going to be a lot of axemen/swordsmen in this category, so I decided to try something different and maybe flesh out some of Mitgardia's magic community in the process. I really like the stream, especially at the lower camera angle. I do think a different color of flower would have been nice. The white gets lost for me. Oh, also: tree at an angle = winning

Justice! Kind of a hilarious idea, this one.

Like that little tree in the back window! I do think the peak of the roof ought to be black to go with the sides though. Is there an interior?

Interesting use of the Toy Soldiers base there and the planters look like they're built from planks.

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Nice! Can't wait! -
The fact that you can stick the "arrows" in the target makes that technique very appealing. Thanks for sharing!
-
Agreed. I like the broken wall sections a lot.

The only thing I don't like about this is the pinks and purples. They just seem out of place. The angles on the scaffolding are awesome. And those mushrooms are boss.

Not quite sure I believe that... I think maybe if you started with old grey and sprinkled in some lime or olive green where you can, you might have something--especially if you're building something at a medium or large scale. Take a look at some print pictures in a newspaper or magazine; I think you'll probably find that the image is really a collection of tiny dots that come together to create the colors. This same approach might work for you. Or it might look like somebody went paint-balling through a renaissance festival loaded with green paint. Never know until you try it I guess! -
Awesome micro build with the canyon and the tower and the bridge and the lava and the switch to SNOT at the bottom; however, for my eyes, studs are a no-no in a micro build unless they serve a stylistic purpose. I think you could have leveled off the plateaus with some plates, cheese, and some micro foliage. That might look pretty epic, as if a fissure had opened up and the castle sprouted out of it. Just some thoughts. Love the idea for sure!

Spear Fishing in the Mitgardian Clan Lands (MCB II)
mrcp6d replied to soccerkid6's topic in Guilds of Historica
It looks cold. I like that. But it looks really cold, as in frozen water cold. Good luck with spear fishing through ice! Solid experiment though, I like the color gradients below the ice water and the little pine trees. Now I need to go build something cold....- 38 replies

Excellent work... Love all the details and especially the power functions. I'm not sure I'm up to procuring 400 spines for a couple of trees, but I'd appreciate knowing how those trees were put together if you'd be so inclined to provide a couple deconstruction pics. Found it. Thanks! Now I need to find a towel to clean up the drool I left in your thread....

Age of Mitgardia (free-build-challenge)
mrcp6d replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
lol - SK, you're getting a reputation! Ecc, I'm assuming the available timeframe for this is all or most of Book II? -
Great stuff! This is a nice variation on what Infernum started with his Yeti Hunt. I think if this olive leaf & clear plate trend continues we could have something very solid for what the Plains of Valholl and southern tundra look like.
