Diaries of Beorthan II: Departure (HSS Military)
mrcp6d replied to Bregir's topic in Guilds of Historica
Solid gatehouse Bergir. I like that it's two-sided, though I agree with the comments about the area around the pump needing some more work. -
Aw man, this is cool! Love how run-down it feels. The only negative thing I've got is that the water is a bit plain. Yes it's stagnant swamp water, but I feel like there ought to be stuff floating on top.

I'll have to file this ornamental technique away for future use. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome MOC all-around. Skeleton arms work really well for wheat!

Lovely build Kayne. Great coloring and a perfect amount of foliage.

Not sure I can add anything to the comments, but this is truly incredible. There really ought to be something in castle similar to space's "SHIP"--this would certainly qualify!

Great furniture! I really like how the wall works with all those gold staves as well.

Great evolution from Phase I. I do wish there were more pictures though. As noted above your photography is pretty good and a couple more views in the Flickr stream would probably add something here.

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
mrcp6d replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
Use the search button for "Landscapes of Mitgardia" or "LoM" and you should find some good examples. I'd give you a link but: 1. I'm lazy today, and, 2. "teach a man to fish...." -

This is a great series. I'll have to try micro someday... -
[MOC] - Task 4 - Grey Beard Wizard's Cottage
mrcp6d replied to cesbrick's topic in Guilds of Historica
Phenomenal build. So much to take in! Love all the different colors you can get away with in an MOC this large. -
As others have said, the architecture here is perfect. I really like the repetitiveness of using that many barrels too.

Free build: A Joshua Tree in the Contemplative Gardens
mrcp6d replied to SarahJoy's topic in Guilds of Historica
Joshua trees are freaking weird. They're all over the southern California desert that I have to fly to every now and then for work. The curves on this are very Kaliphlinian and the colors are great as others have said. I'm also with the commenters in favor of seeing a minifig or two here--perhaps siting against the flowerbed with a scroll and some wine contemplating something.- 32 replies

This is a nice little MOC Behemoth. I wouldn't change the wall texture, it's fine as is. However, I'd add some shelves with random stuff on them and racks to hang some forge tools on.

The fig combos are fantastic and the landscaping is spot-on. I've gone up and down a couple mountains, and they had pretty much exactly this color scheme. If I were note one thing to change, it would be to omit the trans-blue in the water. Keeping it just clear and trans light blue would have kept the stream looking like a cold mountain stream.

That hammer design is awesome. And so is using the surfboard mast as a flag pole.

Age of Mitgardia - Barracks Phase 2 - Shield Wall
mrcp6d replied to mccoyed's topic in Guilds of Historica
Sweet! The figs look nice & well posed. I love that water technique--I've used it a couple times myself. For me the piles of 1x1 rounds is just lazy. You know you've actually built something when you 1.) have to stick each one of those buggers ON the build and 2.) have to take each one of those buggers OFF the build! That missing corner kind of bugs me though.- 28 replies

This is a great dio de Gothia! The colors look great, you've got a perfect amount of figs in there for the size, and the cobblestone work is well executed. The only criticism I have is that the roof on the tan building doesn't connect/transition between the rounded section and the on-the-grid section.

Link Also, if you've got some LEGO string/cord/rubber bands, I wonder what sideways barrels would look like on either side?

Mildly disturbing.... Also, subject matter aside, the wall is awesome. I'll have to have a go at it if I have enough tiles....
-
Fantastic Phase I build! Can't wait to see what you do for Phase II.

The story of Lord Mortis - Part 2 [Freebuild]
mrcp6d replied to Jorrith's topic in Guilds of Historica
Exceptional landscaping, especially with the curved path. About how many tall slopes did you end up using? I always find estimating brick needs to be very difficult... -
In addition to being a fantastic build, scribble face made me laugh today and I needed it. Thanks Gunman!
