  1. Before one can make mead, one must first have honey! Farmers on both sides of the Mitgardia/Avalonia boarder keep bees to pollinate their crops and produce honey. I'd like to claim UoP credit for: Landscape Design, flowers and dense foliage Flickr C&C welcome!
  2. I like this concept a lot! Not building the same 1/4 structure for each season is interesting and I think it works well here.
  3. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year guys! Here's my Cat A build: And an AoM MOC:
  4. Category A, for the Men's side:
  5. My Category A entry for the Men's side! Unfortunately, this will be my only entry to Challenge 3. During the Drow incursion in Avalonia, western Mitgardian army officials ordered hundreds of shafts dug to the bedrock for the early warning devices perfected by the Kaliphlinites (sand worms are a major problem in sections of the Siccus Badlands). These devices were drums placed at the bottom of each shaft that, when the ground vibrated, beat seemingly of their own accord. If one was near enough to hear, the alarm could be raised and a Drow sneak attack from underground would be far less sneaky. Although no Drow tunneled to Mitgardia during the crisis, the drums were manned again on Elon Chorian’s command to listen for Amortug dwarves tunneling in the opposite direction. This MOC was inspired by the Mythbusters episode where they test the rather dubious myth that in the middle ages Chinese military engineers used drums to sense vibrations in the ground caused by enemy tunneling. Apparently, it's plausible... Link Kaliphlinites, I'd like to claim UoP credit for: Landscape Design--trees (#3 for me) Flickr C&C appreciated as always!
  6. Wow. Impressive work! The crumbling tower, the wicked-looking ballistae, the Drow figs, the dwarf figs, it's all excellent!
  7. Second one looks great to me! A tip I just got from my brother today (one good thing about having relatives around during the holidays!) is to lengthen the shutter speed (exposure time) on the camera to compensate for less-than-blindingly-bright lighting conditions. He and I were bouncing around between 1/30 and 1/4 seconds this afternoon with my little point-n-shoot and dialing that speed in really makes a difference. If your flickr data is correct, it looks like you were using a speed of 1/128s. You might just need more time for more light to hit the sensor.
  8. The fact that it's circular kinda blows my mind a bit... While the yellow is awesomely classic, I feel it stands out too much against the more muted earthtones everywhere else in the build. Tan roofs or "green" green grass would have kept the color scheme more cohesive for me.
  9. The bane of FOLs everywhere! I'm not sure I've ever heard of it referenced so clinically before--cracked me up
  10. To the pictures, the first one looks slightly overexposed, maybe because of the crazy-shiny battleaxe, but still quite a good picture in my opinion.
  11. Beer has "head" in English, but yeah, it's foamy.
  12. I think what makes this a nice build are the color choices for the little buildings.
  13. Such a great, serine MOC. I like the bridge a lot and the foliage is dense without being overbearing. I do think, however, that there sure is a whole bunch of reddish-brown going on with the bridge, cart, and barrels. Old brown wheels and dark tan for the cart might have improved the color blocking to borrow a spacers' typical term. Your mead builds have inspired me to do a beekeeping MOC for CCC that I'll upload tomorrow! This series is great and I hope it continues.
  14. Holy cow, the baby blue is perfect!
  15. The tilted masts give a whimsical look that I like.
  16. So much action beautifully framed by those trees!
  17. Wow, the landscaping in this is really good. I like the overhead angle picture quite a bit, it really sells the story.
  18. Yay! I was hoping we'd get a micro ship on the last day and you didn't disappoint. Thanks for doing this again and Merry Christmas!
  19. Thanks Adolfo! Thanks Gunman, this size seems about perfect for me and my bricks. I can have a couple in work at one time!
  20. Hehe - very original concept! The ruts in the road is a great touch too.
  21. I think this works really well. Great usage of the mixel joints and the intended lighthearted nature of the MOC comes through beautifully with the face.
  22. I saw this on TBB last night. This is fantastic! The specter of Sauron is a great touch and adds so much to the story the MOC tells.
  23. Sweet work all around! Love the chains for, er, chain mail...
  24. While I can't really say I've every been a fan of the exterior wall technique, the other architectural and interior details are top notch.
  25. Mind-blowing!
