Book II, Chal V, Cat B: Engines of Destruction
mrcp6d replied to MKJoshA's topic in Guilds of Historica
Gold-plated battering rams? Only the best for Lord Raavage! On the serious side, using those angled plate things as sawhorses is inspired.- 14 replies

I saw this a few days ago on Flickr, and thought the head at the end of the ballista was a great rendition of a wolf. I'm still getting more wolf than dragon from it, even now knowing what your intent was. Maybe some horns would have helped? Still, great work either way!

Book II, Challenge V, Category B: Barqan Fire Wagon
mrcp6d replied to Gideon's topic in Guilds of Historica
Amazing architecture here Gideon, the roof is awesome and all the arches work perfectly as always for Kaliphlin. And, of course, the fire and explosion is perfectly rendered with both the LEGO and the photography.- 19 replies

A very formidable entry! Love the spines on the roof, the interior is well done, and the archer ports pull it all together.

Wow, really cool entry! I never would have thought of anything like this. The golem looks great both as an in-progress creation and as the finished product. Nice work.

Book II Challenge V Category B: Mitgardian preparations

Pretty house and some heavy-duty ordinance to visit upon the Spire! I actually like the one color ground; the mix of tiles and plates I think adds plenty of textural variation. -

I love the sloped sides on this! -
Really interesting design for the base. Love the summoned firebird and of course the building is gorgeous. Awesome MOC!

I like this a lot, the architecture is certainly on point and reflects well the Avalonian aesthetic. I do think that a more purposeful application of the olive leaves would have made this MOC even better. Perhaps more of a true ground-to-roof vine-covered corners of the building as the random leaves all over don't work so well to my eye.

Perfect little cabin for the frozen clanlands. Love the covered area for the firewood.

Good to see the purple back in GoH! -
I do wonder if LEGO really wants us to use those canopy pieces as giant insect wings, they certainly are better used as bug parts!

I've been to the La Brea tar pits in CA, quite the site in the middle of Los Angeles! I quite like this MOC Josh, good color choices to my eyes.

Major points for the droid arm idea to get the teeth out on the edge! Good to see you building in GoH again Gideon -

Do you have any pics of the jetpack from a rear angle? I'm in the "a bit too much scifi" camp, but the design looks cool from the front and I want too see more! ""- 17 replies

Book II, Challenge V, Cat A: A Message from the Jarl
mrcp6d replied to mrcp6d's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks zoth33! I figure we had to show the "messaging" happening for this category somehow, so, there's the letter out in the open. Thanks Isaac, it's good to have hands on ABS again! A Mitgardian soldier's hands cold? Pfft! Good call though, oversight on my part. Thanks Slegengr. I really admire builders that use studs/no studs/etc. purposefully to create differing texture within a single MOC. I absolutely was going for rough bark against smooth snow here. Thanks guys!! Thanks Leonardo, the baseline technique is not mine, I saw it first somewhere on Flickr specifically applied for large pine/fir trees. I added the white slopes for the snow. I don't consider any LEGO techniques to be "owned" by anyone, so yeah, go ahead and MOC away! -
