Wow, this is great! I really like the highly sloped roofs and general architectural shaping. The texture of the walls is perfect at this scale too.

Very nice construction build here! Only critique I've got is related to the 1x1 round bricks in the scaffolding; they're not working for me at all. But I do understand piece restrictions.
-
Usually character intros are just "fig-on-plates" presentations (or not even on-plates in my case!), but the vigs you built around each one are each marvelous in their own right. Sweet work.

Many above have said it, but I'll say it too--the tree here is really cool. I do think that the landscaping could have used either 1 less color or better color blocking.

The use of blue all over in this MOC really stands out as awesome. Solid structural techniques and details throughout are impressive too. Great build!

Really like the wall texture here! This MOC is a lovely slice of Varlyrio.

Gabe, this is great! Getting the rigging done out of only LEGO string w/ studs on the ends is an achievement in itself, everything else is very well proportioned to my medieval-naval-architecture-ignorant eye.

The tiling looks great with the color gradient, if you're going for a beach. Isn't a harbor or shipyard usually going to want deep enough water to pull a ship up to the dock/let a ship out of dry dock? Angles are awesome though! Curious--what's that tool on the table to the left? That's just ridiculous. Great idea, great execution. Can probably even add some 1x1 clips to serve as brick/tile laying in work? Or would that be one step too far? -
Lovely build Gabe! The architectural details are nice, particularly modified 1x2s as corner bracing at bottom of the roof and the stacked rocks foundation.

I really loved this Summer Joust entry. The section cut through the earth along the back side is fantastically done, as is the stream.

This is an AWESOME MOC! It feels lived-in but crisp. The altitude of the buildings is great, and you know I appreciate the lack of laziness with the 1x1 water.- 20 replies

The repetitive arches are cool, interior is great with the rafters/arches & benches, and for some reason I really like the cups under the dome--absolutely no idea why.
-
Very nice architecture and detailing--particularly, I like the tile floors that you're incorporating in this series. If I could complain about the presentation for a moment though.... I feel like some illusion of water would make quite an improvement, even if it's the silly pile o' trans-blue 1x1s.

Nice little shop. I like the porch/deck on top, we don't see that very often, and as others have noted the colors are sweet.
-
Heck yeah! Welcome! You spelled Mitgardian wrong. Fixed it for you.

I really like this ship de Gothia! Nice example of a LEGO carrack. But only 2 pictures?

This is a fantastic MOC. I really like how compact it is--shows what can be achieved without a giant collection! Great attention to detail throughout and the angled section in the back forming a walkway adds a lot of visual depth. I think the hardest thing about building in Varlyrio is going to be keeping the building styles as medieval-ish as possible. A squad of redcoats wouldn't look out of place in this MOC at all, I think it's probably the blue building that really gives off almost an age of sail feeling.
-
Perfectly executed DC-style technique with the structures, but what I think makes this MOC really work, is the few-bricks-tall hill you set them on. That and the camera angle really balance out the build I think.

Going with all-studs and cacti certainly inspire thoughts of the American deserts rather than African or Arabian to my eye, even before I read the posts above related to the subject. Looking forward to where the quest leads!- 24 replies

This is simply a perfect Mitgardian house in the summertime. Glad to have you in the Guilds and especially here in the North!

The windows are great, and as others have mentioned, the lighting is perfect; however, my favorite details are the large but not overpowering fireplace and especially the firewood stack. Somebody needs to trim that lavender-leafed tree back a bit though. I'm sure the lord and lady don't want any more broken windows!
-
Solid build. The tree is a great representation of the real thing and the low rock wall is perfect!
-
Lovely MOC John! You've got so much going with the colors and architecture, and I think you added the perfect amount of plant life to the build--just enough, not too much. I do think you could have gone further to sell the island concept though.

Impressive in both scale and detail!

Looking forward to a year of snow-and-ice MOCs! I've updated Mikkel Winter-Stone's wardrobe a bit; and, because everyone's fig pieces have been asked before, here's the BrickLink links: Feather Hat Head Scarf Torso Green Arms Hands Legs
