  1. I`m not sold on it either, but thanks for the honest comments! Too many compromises were to make especially at the front bodywork. Anyway the small parts sticking some gaps are part of the concept which is quite risky and has gone too far somewhere. The parts & sections have to please from many different view angles at once. Supercars like the Predator has another concept and building style behind it. Maybe I should switch to something different for the next one.
  2. Hello together, what is going on in this year´s supercar battle?? It seems to get quite intense and I really enjoy it to see so many posting outstanding MOCs here with a clearly visible improving standard requirements put on supercars. So let me give you some more: the LaFerrari. Not all people like Ferrari, some prefer non- PF supercars and some are tired of red supercars at all. But honestly - I don´t care ;-). Hopefully the Lambo fraction will like it anyway too;-). I think everyone knows the real car, if not – visit the homepage, so I don´t need to describe it. Its concept is different, innovative and unusual as my MOC was designed to be as well. The project started about 1 year ago. After the LaFerrari´s appearance at the Geneva Motor Show this mind blowing car was my next one to recreate. Not in 1 day of course. The goals for the final product were set high from the beginning. The main objectives were: - increase speed using 2 XL motors + 2 additional L motors, similar to the 2. engine in the real car - best possible functionality with full range PF equipment - “gapless” bodywork concept - a fair tribute to the real car by keeping a strict scale The resulting facts: – 1:10 scale; L62 x W30 x H15 studs (49 x 24,5 x 12 cm); 1-1,5 stud ground clearance – weight: 2,5 kg – parts amount: 2.000 + (including 52 Technic panels) – independent wheel suspension – RWD with 2 XL motors + 2 L motors – servo steering coupled to working steering wheel + working rear spoiler + rear diffusor winglets – remotely openable wing doors driven by 1 M motor – manual door selector (screenwiper) – self engeneered working 12 cylinder fake engine – flash lights mode - pole reverser coupled to engine – separate manual coupling for engine & pole reverser – manually openable rear hood – 6 pairs LED lights engaging by 2 different functions & circuits – control by 2 sets control units & IR V2 receivers – powered by 2 LiPo batteries with easy charge access The car is to 97% finished now and has some flaws, so another year left to finish it ;-). But this weekend I will try to make a YT video of it as it is to show the functions. There is also a small LDD file for the drivertrain available on my brickshelf account (folder not public today). I won´t make instructions for the car, maybe only complete the LDD for the chassis and the functions only. Enjoy! brunojj1
  3. This supercar rocks! The rear tires even don´t look out of scale! Want to see more of the powered version. Fantastic appearance, only the pics need a bit more contrast.
  4. That is the point- I have the duty to beat it. Sorry from my side also, but in terms of talking about supercars it is not completely off-topic. Supercars are in their own category and have their own challenges like housing the engine. I will start an own tpic about the LaFerrari when it´s finished. I´m not waiting for anything, the car itself is my biggest challenge - like you said. I kept it 15 studs high, as low as possible to match the 1:10 scale. The designed V12 engine is only 11,5 studs long, works perfectly and can be seen on my brickshelf. Unfortunately the folder is not public the second day now and I have no big experience to post pics here immediately. I made a LDD file for it.
  5. Yes, it is still not finished, one year of work has gone already. I was close to give it up already, but I won´t. Such guys like you push me again ;-)!
  6. Cool model again, very detailed and honest description. And yes, the fotography cannot be beaten! The shades of orange are clearly visible but don't disturb the look. I made a selfengineered v12 recently to save space ;-), same issue.
  7. I would like to see more convertibles , especially with a nicely folding roof (not as mine). I suppose the BMW should have enough space for it in the rear. Depends how you want to make the interiour. I recently also got an idea about BMW 3 Coupe E36 or E46 - as a tuning car in yellow, not convertible. It should come in 2 versions which can easily be modified with special parts as a Tuning car with some nice eye - catching features. Building the chassis: a chassis contains the inner mechanical cores of the axles, I would start on that first. Your frame looks you want make it sturdy, don´t waste space. The sturdiness cann be achieved later when building around the mechanics. Nice idea, wish you much success to build it!
  8. That´s a shame - these guys are so stupid, untalented lazy pirate junkies! I´m one of the humble "masters" given the honour to display a MOC in this book. I don´t earn 1 penny for my insignificant contribution there and it´s OK for me, but the writers and publishers shouldn´t lose their jobs because of this threat! Many artists died in deep poverty, sad history. If somebody on this planet is called "artist" - he deserves to get some revenue of his work, shouldn´t he? If he performs well high above the average standards in any field of arts, why shouldn´t he become well paid or let´s say so - rich?? Sariel is definitely the guy who besides his talents, puts the most work into sharing his hobby. This is a strong idea. Another issue I´m thiniking about was bespoken by Sariel too in some thread here: Piracy of MOC building instructions. The first goal always should be to keep a friendly and creative spirit amongst the builders. They are the people (including myself) who run the so called "market", buy books, instructions, parts, new sets to build the MOC of their dreams, don´t forget about it! If they are willing to share their work, know their intellectual property beeing respected and not misused, they will keep on doing. An Association which is only fighting against invisible pirates will lose the fight and its existence finally.
  9. Big applause to Nathanael! @designer Han: Sounds so good! This year will be the year of the best supercar MOCs, WHO doesn't like them????
  10. Congratulations to the winners! It was fun to follow the contest. And now I have to get some WHITE parts, looks very cute! I think Jim is really tired now - let him take a breath ... What´s next?
  11. Very impressive supercar built with some smart building techniques! The suspension is cool. The bodywork even more, especilly the incline of the doors. Nice idea with the rubber pieces This unspectacular car becomes lovely and interesting for me.
  12. I totally agree with that. The new style Technic brought me out of the dark ages - I was fascinated by the 8043 excavator which took me more than 1 day to assemble and the range of parts and the vast possibilities surprised me and since then were overtaking my mind. And every day you can discover new things - new ideas follow by themselves. You can get so much more realistic, artistic and inventive with that. This is the main reason that I don´t finish quickly - there es an even better way to make something work better and look better.... The official flagship models are beeing different by different designers and you cannot even compare them with each other and less judge them by comparing with those 10 years earlier. If you ask me (maybe many will agree) - the Technic system as it is doesn´t need more parts to be invented - only improve the cracking ones.
  13. Ok, let`s say "some builders" like me who tried to find a good solution e.g. for a crawler. The official crawler set 9398 provided these L motors and everyone was asking what they would be good for if beeing invented for such model and so on. I built a MOC with XL motors and raced against the offroader - it was a pleasure to mount on the duplo bricks like crazy seeing the 9398 getting stuck quickly. They are not useless at all OF COURSE - it depends on the purpose, weight, gear ratio... The words hate and war are only words on this forum . A fair comparison is a long debate. Concerning your critics about chewing gears - they don´t! And if they do while experimenting - who cares, I have enough of them. My RWD solutions shown above may look simple but took some experience for especially heavy load which need heavy torque. And believe me - it doesn´t chew gears apart in general. Another thing if you mount the parts differently or use older gears. I broke the small differential gears once in years when the 3 L cross axle got stucked in it. Happens some time.
  14. Sorry, I thought it is obviously. But no problem, here it is in a better view. I modified them with another idea I had long time ago. You want to make your PF RWD car faster? Use the useless L motors! I say useless because amongst many builders they are unloved "bastards" between XL and M. You can leave them out or add them behind the rear wheels - some milimeters space left for them Combined they provide faster acceleration to the car. The max speed is also a little bit higher compared to the use of 2 XL only. Total gear ratio of the L motor section is 1,191:1. The XL section has a higher reduction about 2,143:1. Due to the different speed and torque values of the different motors it is a good balanced gear ratio on my opinion. If you want compare torques and voltages you should visit Philo´s homepage. Please check out rebrickable and the parts list there.
  15. I would highly recommend the double XL solution like in my Spider. It is very strong and reliable. The total gear ratio according to Sariels calculator would be2.143:1 At a weight about more than 2 kg it goes well, especially with 2 AAA batteries and V2 receivers. You cannot get much more out of it without gear scratching. The L motors were not so satisfying for me. And no comparison to RC motors of course - if you want real speed you have to buy Tamyia or sth like that.
  16. Thank you very much, I didn´t know these builders and their models at all! How beautifull studfull building can be! This humvee cannot be beaten, even by Sariel (he will agree I guess .
  17. 21 : 10 26 : 6 10 : 4 28 : 3 16 : 2 18 : 1 My decision who should win was easy. This plane is a real masterpiece, technically, aestetically and the idea itself which inspires me to build a (non) flying object some day . Congratulations to the builder!
  18. Honestly: who took part only to win the Sbricks? I guess you guys were willing to take part in a CONTEST, right?? I am really surprised by the many entries and super MOCs this contest has generated! I really enjoyed all of them and congratulatíons to everybody who could take part! How to decide which one is the best? Maybe Jim should name it kind of "XYZ Technic Championship" with different categories of MOCS? I can see many "champions" here. Looking forward for TC7 which I will try to join (and probably not release my MOC earlier )
  19. Today I got mine 2 pieces of these "brilliant" electronincs. I really hoped it would work, especially for the contest which I was considering to take part in. But the whole thing is disappointing, let´s tell why: - the app has to get some massive update! (I use android 4-3) - it is very unstable and crashes easily - LED doesn´t flash constantly which would be a really good sign for beeing connected e.g. - sometimes LED doesn´t react while beeing tested, the 4 outputs do - a profile for using e.g. 1 servo for "steering" and 3 motors / outputs for "acceleration" doesn´t work, because only 1 motor reacts for acceleration - so nothing to say about using 2 sbricks parallel - the most disappointing aspect is the DELAY OF COMMAND! Maybe this issue cannot be solved because of the bluetooth hardware limitations... Even if beeing disappointed in the first step, I don´t like to make my own final judgement. Waiting for urgent updates coming! @ JIM: will you do you entry soon ;-)?
  20. Great, Jim! Cannot wait to see it, applause in advance!!! And then we ask blakbird to make the upgrade instructions.
  21. Those renders are so lovely - I`m falling in love again ... Thanks!!!
  22. No, the V1 would work well as blakbird said - V2 are too rare unfortunately. I can`t wait to see it too - probably with another interiour color?? The parts list is uploaded on rebrickable and will be online very soon. It is not a Ferrari ;-) - make it in any other color, please! Jurgen, you are the only one who wil get the instructions for free ;-), if you like!
  23. @blakbird: Please build a rocket out of 100% Lego pieces, powered by non-Lego fuel ;-)!! And don`t forget to hide under a bunker, the pieces flying around will hit you! Will get many many YT clicks for sure! LOL
  24. Very nice try, Zblj! My opinion (sorry): It will never ever fly because: 1. It doesn`t really take off at the lightest version 2. Making it more stable means to add weight 3. The rotors are not efficient enough 4. The power units are too weak. A helicopter, tricopter or quadrocopter, airplane ore UFO or whatever wouldn`t take off because it has to carry the batteries too! Making an independent flying object with Lego pieces only (!) is IMPOSSIBLE and will stay a dream for a while, I guess ;-) ! But I like the approach making the impossible possible one day. I would vote for new stronger and lighter RC units to be released by TLG!!
