Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to Marcello's Rum Bar! May I introduce myself? My name is Simon di Svizzera, I'm the producer of the Brick Sea Rum you will enjoy here. I have a small plantation and a destillery, which I hope to expand soon. This is my freelance collaborator and friend, Marcello. Our bar is named after him. Now, enjoy a delicious drink! We have two types of customers here: First, the soldiers, when they go clubbing on their free evenings. They are usually drunk and play cards for their pay. They are my best clientele and bring in the most money. From time to time they even forget their muskets and hats here... Second, the nerds, geeks or however you want to call them. During the day they go to the university where they lern a lot useful stuff and when the evening start, they come here and enjoy the good mood. But instead of having fun and drinking rum, they bring their notes from the readings and start discussing. They drink tea. If they want to go crazy, they even drink tea with a lacing of rum. They should better stay home and study economics. Thanks for looking, this is my intro. If you have any questions or want to critisize anything, feel free to do so ;-). - Simon di Svizzera

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Simon_S replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Rum as the national drink of Corrington? Simon di Svizzera (left) joins the Empire of Corrington. The figure on the right, Marcello, will be my secondary character. See the intro here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=118873- 897 replies

Great work! That border is outstanding , but the rest of the build is also very nice. I love how it looks like a swimming castle. If there is anything I can critisize, it's the presentation. I'd love to see a picture of the dragon head where we can see some more of it's structure. Right now we can see it's shape, but no textures (which I imagine look great in real life)

Very nice! The house looks cool with the wolf/dragon/whatever heads. It's also nice to see it standing on an angle ;-). And your pine trees are simply beautiful .

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Simon_S replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Here's the link to Book II Challenge II, where you can read the backgroundstory: http://www.eurobrick...&hl=gothia&st=0 On another note, I have to add, that you don't need to know everything about GoH to participate. I also don't know all the different stories and figures. Of course, it can help, but all information you need to build in a challenge is always given in its prelude. So get of the couch and start building ;-). -

[Frozen Beyond - C] How to solve the Algus-Problem
Simon_S replied to Simon_S's topic in Guilds of Historica
Haha, thanks for that funny comment . You know, if we'd have such cool animals in Avalonia, we wouldn't have to bring our trash to you... Thank you Thanks Captain. That with the water in different colours was the first idea on which I built the triptych. I'm not very happy how the photos turned out - in real life it looks much better. Thank you. We all know that a small part of my soul is dark red & gold Thanks mate . Yeah that movie (only seen the trailer) looked very impressive. When I first saw it I knew exactly that I'm going to build a fantasy version of it one day. Thanks Adair Thank you SK! That tree actually uses every single black hand I had - now they all are handless (but the minifigs are anyway the worst sorted part of my collection, so it doesn't matter). You just pointed out my favourite part in each build, great job -
[Frozen Beyond - C] How to solve the Algus-Problem
Simon_S replied to Simon_S's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thank you . Thanks Steward! Thanks mate! It's good to see that everybody likes a different build the most. I for myself like the mitgardian one the best. Thank you Titus. Yeah, I had to make quality builds for the story - otherwise this entry would have been all around ridiculous . Haha, thanks Faladrin . Thank you LV! Thanks Andrew. Thanks a lot Gideon . Yeah, I'm not that good with realistic and serious stuff (remembering my first GoH build I've done: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=72633&hl=%2Bmulled+%2Bwine). Sometimes I wish I would be better in realistic stuff, but other times I also like to build some really weird MOCs . -

Contest! The Frozen Beyond, Results are in!
Simon_S replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
As Captain Braunsfeld already said, it was difficult to put all the category C requirements in one build. So I did three small builds who should work as one big entry. If that's against the rules, feel free to disqualify me. I had a lot of fun building this anyway . Here's my entry for category C: How to solve the Algus-Problem -
So we all know this problem: When the Algus come, everything turns into ice and snow. But what to do against it? This short guide will show you how to get rid of them... Enjoy Soldier: "Look at this once so beautiful tree. Now it's dead. We killed it. We're just too cold for this wonderful forests. We should pay attention that we don't kill the other plants on the other side of the pond ." Chief: "Ah, not again this same old mawkishness . I explain it one more time for you: Dead trees are good and green trees are bad. You got it now?" Soldier: "Yes, Sir!" Chief: "You stink like hell. Take a bath!" Soldier: "Yes, Sir!" He jumps down the cliff, but before he plunges in the pond, the water turns into ice... DONG! The water froze faster than the Algus guy fell down. On this observation we can establish our new tactic against them. We throw water at the Algus, from all sides, at the same time. They will automatically freeze it and then they are locked up in their own blocks of ice. We can simply transport them on the back of a hay wagon through the swamplands of Avalonia. Let's bring them to Nocturnus... There they opened a new amusement park recently: Welcome to the Nocturnic Park! "Darling, hand me another iced Algus over, our little one is very hungry!" _________________________________________________________________________________ Here's the whole thing together: I hope you like my not too serious entry (althought it will never be as funny as Captain Braunsfelds rainbow magic ). Thank you for checking out and have a nice day! Simon S.

Haha thanks for the laugh . Great idea and very nice execution. The contrast between the black ground and all the pink elements looks great. Finally someone shows us the true side of Nocturnus .

[Frozen Beyond, Cat A] Water does not stop them!
Simon_S replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Guilds of Historica
Yay for a non-gray castle! I love how the water transforms to ice . Also, the almost exaggerated differences in the landscaping are so nice. Keep it on ;-)- 24 replies

Wonderful landscaping , keep it on! Did you think about using some more dominant colours? I imagine that some very small accents of red could look really good in this build (for example those viking shields)

AoM Inn Phase I: Itβs never too cold for an ale
Simon_S replied to Puvel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Nice little build . The wagon works great for phase 1, I wouldn't have thought of that. Why don't you go just outside on a nice day and take the photos there? It works fine for me ;-). -
Love the way you did the stonework. It looks amazing . Also the tudor part and the roof look nice
-
Very nice build! The atmosphere you created is so dark . The only thing that I can critisize about this is the photography: When you try to create something similar next time, use a black (or very dark grey ) background to emphasize what you try to achieve with the build.

HSS Laborers: The Woodcutter in Sionnach
Simon_S replied to de Gothia's topic in Guilds of Historica
Beautiful work . That house looks fantastic and the landscaping is also nice (I love that you're still one of the few left who prefer standard green over sand and olive ). I agree with Titus that the border could use some more work, but I think it's not absolutely necessairy. You paid attention to the important parts (mainly the house) and left the others quite simple - I like that. -
The round base is really cool. There are also many nice details on the walls, but for my taste it almost is a little bit overcrowded. Oh, I just saw that this is your first historic MOC... I wish my first one was as good as this. Great job, keep it on!

Wow, this is fantastic!

the roof shaping is nice (it reminds me a lot of LDs inn who also had a dark blue roof and similar shaping). And of course I love the eyes in the walls
