that's one nice little build! I like the colour choice and the house looks also good. brick on!

This is awesome! There are so many nice details and colours in such a small space while it still doesn't seem overcrowded or something like this. also, the interiors are top notch (as usual from you!). Great build!

Book III - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Simon_S replied to Henjin_Quilones's topic in Guilds of Historica
wow man, I had to check your photostream to see that building in the background. It looks truly fantastic! welcome to the guilds. It's a pleasure to have you here :D. -
Thanks for the kind words! You point out one problem I had with this build... I would loved to have more plants in there but didn't want to throw in another green because it would have disturbed the colour palette. So I went without theme but threw in some stones at the riverbank. I'm actually right now working on another MOC with sand green grass + a dark green swamp. And I have exactly the same problem that I have almost no fitting plants because all my foilage parts are in normal green but that would look awkward...

Meeting with Haldor, the Master Builder of Bridges
Simon_S replied to Simon_S's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks man :D. -
Thank you :D. I really like food (and cooking, it's almost as building LEGO: finding new combinations and stealing awesome reciepes other people figured out)... as you might have noticed in almost every MOC of mine people are eating and it's about food. Thank you :D. The boat studs were an emergency solution as I didn't have any more 2x2 round tiles. But I like how they work :D. Haha thanks :D. Thank you! Yes I used almost the same colours as in my last build the hideout. I think the dark yellow + yellow + lime really work well together. Thank you :D. Using the tooth pieces was actually the main idea behind this build. I think they are way more useful than usually thought of. And the half cut house was just like this because I didn't have more round tiles or boat studs to finish the whole thing. Thank you! Thanks :D. Thank you :D. Thank you! Yes, go for it! I will soon buy more round tiles for walls like these ;-). Thank you :D. I never thought that these blue eyed heads are hard to integrate... maybe because I don't have that many female fleshie heads. So I can't really be picky. Do you know where they come from? Thank you :D

As W Navarre and Sympatik Brick already said, the Swamp looks great! The tooth pieces are a nice detail. And the colour works really well here :D.

I've seen this some time ago on flickr and I like the "classic fantasy feeling" of this build. I mean you have a witch fighting against skeletons. The combination of action and a peacful looking town make a great combination. I also like that you angled the buildings. Nice job!

Nice one! It's crazy how big this thing is and that the leaves still hold together. Great job also on working with unusual bright colours :D.

wow this is one beautiful castle! I really like all the interiors. And I also like the walls with all the tiles in the corners. I would love to see this on a rock and surrounded by some landscaping. I think it would work really well in a bigger diorama ;-).

Chapter 1: A Mitgardian Adventure https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/191046-a-mitgardian-adventure/ Chapter 2: Meeting with Haldor, the Master Builder of Bridges https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/191588-meeting-with-haldor-the-master-builder-of-bridges/ Chapter 3: The Hideout https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/192000-the-hideout/ For Inga it was a usual morning as every day. As a baker she was used to start early in the morning. She baked a lot of different breads and on this day she also made some cake for the families of the village... When she finished the cake, she put it on the window board so that it could cool out. She examined her work and she looked happy. The cake became quite big while it was in the ofen. And it got a nice crust which she covered with powdered sugar. She liked how the cake turned out. And she already imagined the happy face of the neighbour family to who she wanted to donate this cake... Stephan: Mmmmmh can you smell it? Ingrid: Oh it smells so yummy. I'm so hungry. We should get some of this delicious cake. Stephan: I bet it's apple pie. It smells like apple pie with cinnamon sugar on top of it. Simon: Stop it. We're on the run. We can't just go to the cake baking lady and tell her that we're hungry because soldiers of Haldor are following us and that we need her cake right now. Ingrid: We could steal it. We have Stephan the master of thieves with us. Stephan: Yes, let's get that cake. I'm tired of being hungry. And it smells so good! Simon: But we're not thieves. We're fighting for freedom and justice. And now you want to rob this poor lady and steal her cake? I bet she worked hard for it. We're not doing this. This is not our style. Stephan: Who made you to our leader? I'm hungry and I say we're going to get that beautiful delicious flavorsome cake. Ingrid: Yes, let's steal it and then eat it! So it was decided. The two outvoted Simon clearly, and to be honest, he also wanted to bite in that cake really bad. Stephan sneaked up and Ingrid right behind him. They just made it. Just one more step and they could grab it. Krrack! Stephan stepped on a flower! Inga heard the sound, looked out of the window and saw the three fugitives. Stephan had just enough time to take the cake and all three run away just like barefaced kids from the neighbourhood. Inga: Stop! Thieves! They have the cake! Stop them! But she had no chance. They simply outrun her and left her alone with no other choice than bake a second cake. Later in the day, two soldiers with a dog came near her house. They were hungry and asked for bread. She gave them some and told the whole story. The soldiers now knew that they were right on track. So they kept going and increased their pace... they wanted to catch Simon that dirty murderer. He should pay for what he has done! To be continued... This was just a quick small build. When I built the last one (The Hideout) I thought about those dark yellow tooth pieces and thought that they would work well as a roof if each row was placed by a half stud offset. So I built this small cottage to try it out and I'm happy with the result.

[Freebuild] Forest trolls'cavern keep entrance
Simon_S replied to Ferret-'s topic in Guilds of Historica
very nice, I like the head as entrance :D. I also like the flames as eyes. Is this your first build for the guilds? Come on! Brick on -
this is a very nice micro build. the tree is fantastic. and the presentation with the dome is a nice idea :D

thanks man! Thank you for the kind words. I don't really have any yellowish green in my collection since I stopped building LEGO 6 years ago and just started now. There are a few pieces in the flower bouquet which I bought for my wife and I tried it out and the combination looks awesome. might buy some of this colour in the near future ;-). thank you :D. that was exactly my goal with the waterfall. Thanks man! I wanted to use the windshield from the slave 1 for a long time as a waterfall and finally used it :D. also, the tooth pieces were somehow an emergency solution for yellow larch trees thank you exetrius! Thank you :D

You can find chapter one here: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/191588-meeting-with-haldor-the-master-builder-of-bridges/https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/191046-a-mitgardian-adventure/ . Now on to chapter 3: The Hideout Simon was on the run. He heard the dogs barking. And the watchmen crying. He run for his life and hoped to escape in the nearby larch forest. There was e small brook. He jumped in there so the hound would lose his trace. He waded upstream and came to a small waterfall. He noticed that there was a small cave behind the waterfall, so he went through it. All his clothes were wet. He was freezing as he entered the cave. "Who are you?" Simon trembled. He wasn't alone. Did he get detected? "Who are you?" asked the mysterious voice again. "Sss Sss Simon" stammered Simon. "And what are you doing here? This is our hideout." Asked the man again. "I'm on the run. They are chasing me. So I jumped in that creek so that the bloodhounds couldn't smell me anymore. And so I found this cave." His eyes got used to the dark and he started seeing the outline of two people. Simon told them his whole story, how he left his home to prove his dignity and then how he murdered Haldor and became a fugitive. The two outlaws, Ingrid and Stephan, were on the run too. It actually was a fornutate coincidence. Ingrid was a talented archer. She learned how to use her bow when she was young and when they didn't have enough food. Stephan was a thief who got caught and had to leave his village. They two were here for some weeks already. And from time to time, when people came nearby, they left their hideout and robbed them. So the chest they had was already filled with gold. "It's a good life" said Ingrid. "Yes, you can join us and become part of our outlaw gang" added Stephan. "We have food, gold, weapons and we surely know how to fight. Come with us and we get rich!" "Actually, I have other plans" said Simon, as he pulled out the stolen map with Haldors castle on it. "What is this?" asked Ingrid curiously. "It is a plan to build a Castle. And this here is my home. Haldor had plans to get military control over the whole coast. I don't know if these dark plans will stop by themselves or if there is a successor of Haldor which will be even more evil. I have to go there and take a look. And if they are really building that castle, I need to find a way to stop them and bring peace to our region." "This sounds like a good adventure. I would like to join you on your journey", meant Ingrid. "You have my bow." "And my knife." said Stephan. *krrrr* "What's that?" cried Simon. "Psssssst. Be quiet!" said Stephan, "there's somebody out there. I will go and take a look." Stephan came back: "It's just two soldiers and a dog. Probably looking for our new friend. Do we kill them?" Ingrid: "No, let's just wait until they go away. They will never find us in here." And luckily, Ingrid was right. The soldiers had no chance to find Simon and his outlaw friends. They went on and left the larch forest. So our three outlaws could leave their cave without being detected. And they went on to see if the castle would really be built. To be continued... ;-)

[Freebuild] Salt Mining in the Westersands
Simon_S replied to jtooker's topic in Guilds of Historica
those camels are very sweet! as exetrius already noted, it's cool to see everyday life in GoH. keep it on! -
I really like the colours you used in this build. the blue floor and the red curtains make that build beautiful :D

This is one very cool MOC. I like the atmosphere you created - also with a very fitting background. The tree itself is nicely built with cool part usages and nice colour choices ;-)

Meeting with Haldor, the Master Builder of Bridges
Simon_S replied to Simon_S's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks for the kind words! Maybe a castle will come in the future ;-). Thank you :D. Yeah I really like the "chaotic" rockwork. It's still not really chaotic because all bricks are still in 90 degrees placed and not angled or anything. that makes ist stable and fast to build. I think the next chapter will be the outlaw band :D. Thanks Man :D. Thanks jtooker! The texture for the whole castle and the underside of the bridge actually took most of the time for this build. I almost lost my patience and thougth about changing it, since it took so much time. also, it made the underside of the bridge quite instable, because there's also a 180 degree snot incorporated. the combination of this together with the many small parts for texture and the length of the bridge made it sketchy. Thank you :D. Yeah I can see that the style of rockwork is not mainstream right now... but I really like it and prefer it over clean rocks which are mostly built out of small slopes. also, it's a fast way to build big rocks and cliffs - so I can only recommend you try it out one day :D. Thank you for taking the time to read the story and comment here! thank you for the kind comment! thanks :D. the meldet candle were done many times before... I think back in the days I've seen them often in soccerkids interiors. also, his interiors were very influental for my work. -
Shields into Surfboards "And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore." Isaiah 2,4 This was built for de Summer Joust 2022 category "going big". I know I don't really stand a chance since there are already many great MOCs entered in this category. But I still couldn't resist finishing this one. The idea came while I prepared a lecture about church history in the Middle Ages. So if you ask me, that's how the crusades should have been. Peaceful. Swords into plowshares, spears into pruning hooks and shields into surfboards. May Jesus Christ bring peace to the earth!

Very nice how many details you fit in there ! The roof technique is cool and as noticed before - I like the contrast between the dark roof and the bright books.

This is just full with beautiful details! The rockwork, the staircase and the plants are all superb. Very nicely done!
