  1. As others have said, this has a very classic town feel to it. I like the way the grill brick trim at the front frames the building, particularly on the ground floor and first floor. At the roof level, I think this would have looked even better if it was more rounded , like the trim on the winnows at the roof level. On the inside, I like how you have done the chandelier and the glass barriers.
  2. Very nice! I think you've nailed the Western look and feel with this building. Any photos of the back? I'm looking forward to seeing it in the full diorama.
  3. This is a stunning building. There are so many great details, but the things that stood out for me are how you have done the windows on the arches, the panelling and the trim on the roof. The colour combinations are perfect. Is / will there be an interior?
  4. Looking forward to the weekend ...

  5. This is beautiful. I love the rock work and the landscaping. The weathered look of the bench works perfectly on a lighthouse island. The building itself looks really solid as well to withstand those howling winds. I particularly like the bricks around the bottom and the dome at the top. Is that a brick built door? (Might be my ageing eyes, but I couldn't see it well here or on flickr). Is the whole building based on the use of those hinge plates? Great idea for allowing an interior, but that must be a lot of hinge plates! Last question, how tall is it overall?
  6. Wow. Who would have thought a collection of translucent pieces could become such a work of art. Well done!
  7. It had never occurred to me to make a layout at mini modular scale, but this is a great idea. I love it! Looks like it covers about four 32x32 baseplates in area. Is that about right?
  8. Great entry, with a lot of clever parts usage! I love the moose, and also how you have done the pot belly stove and chairs. Well done!
  9. This is a great idea and nicely executed. My daughter would love this!
  10. Nice mini interpretation. Well done! I really like how you have done the corner part of the building, particularly the sign.
  11. This is awesome. There have been so many great entries into this contest, but this is the stand out one for me so far.
  12. These look great. I particularly like the colour combinations in the first set of building, as well as the brick built doors. The trashcans are a nice touch too, and add to the realism of the buildings. The larger stand alone building has a very grand look about it. The tan and dark red trim between the first and second floors is awesome. May I borrow that one day? I think the front door of the second building lacks a bit a "grandness" compared to the rest of the building. Maybe solid brick built doors would work better?
  13. Short answer: LEGO is meant to be played with! Long answer: My daughter's favourite Friends and City sets and some of our Star Wars sets are stored as individual sets into their own storage boxes when not currently built. The rest (about 40,000 pieces) is sorted into a system that works for me for doing modular MOCs. I share with her (i.e. I borrow her Friends pieces) and cringe when she picks out the e.g. dark orange box to build a car park for her die cast cars (ouch!), but I want her to enjoy all the LEGO as much as I do. She knows where to find most of her favourite individual pieces if she needs them. I always have a box that's called the "sorting box" for pieces that need to be put away. I find sorting pieces quite relaxing, so I don't mind her just putting what she is finished with in there. Safer than getting her to put it back anyway, because I might never find it back. She knows not to play with my WIPs and is good about that, but once they are photographed and uploaded to flickr she is free to play with them. She loves roleplaying with the minifigs in the modular buildings. I figure I can always rebuild whatever she destroys. To date, she has only dropped and shattered one modular building. That one hurt a bit because was a 32-stud wide building with a full interior, and it happened only two days after I had uploaded it to flickr. I didn't really get to enjoy that one for long. But, I have all the pieces and it can be rebuild someday.
  14. This has been an amazing project so far! It would be awesome to see all these buildings and rides built in bricks in a single layout. I imagine it would be jaw-dropping, and would love to have a go at building some of the rides, particularly the pirate ship and ferris wheel, my two favourites so far. I don't have many technic pieces though.
  15. Nice addition to the historic area! The bay windows look fantastic and I like the trim on the first floor window at the front. Nice parts usage to make the awning above the front door, too. I think the minifigs might get a surprise, though, when they step out the back door! Can you post an updated picture of the historic area with this building in it?
  16. Thanks, Cecilie, this means a lot to me! Thanks, gazumpty. I found that modding the City buildings and Creator houses into 16-wide modulars was a great way to start with modular buildings. I look forward to seeing your MOC modulars soon!
  17. Thanks for the nice comments, mephistopheles, castor-troy and badboytje. I'm glad you like it.
  18. Love your version. it's amazing how much more realistic it looks with the right tyres on!
  19. I call her Emma, because that's her name.
  20. This is really cute!
  21. I've been wanting to try Mindstorms for a while now and had the box for the current one in my hand during a 20% off sale a couple of months ago. It was hard to put it back on the shelf, but I thought they might bring out a new one soon given the current one has been out for so long. The EV3 looks and sounds awesome.
  22. Congratulations, Pandora! PS. Love the sci-fied avatar. The ray gun is adorable.
  23. This is gorgeous! So many great details every where, but my favourite is the chicken coop. The egg in there is a really nice touch. I also like the overall look of the barn and how you have done the stairs to the upper level. Well done and good luck in the contest!
  24. Thanks, polyphonic and Man with a Hat, for the nice comments. I really appreciate it!
  25. These look great and far more realistic than most of the official vehicles. I particularly like that you can fit the minifigures side by side!
