  1. The discussions about who's buying what has me wondering: lots of people are only going to buy the sets if the story is a reboot instead of a continuation, or visa versa, or depending on if the story is to their taste. Why? The sets are there. At this point, the status of the story will not affect the quality of the sets. So why not purchase the sets primarily based on whether or not you like the sets themselves? I'm not trying to criticize anyone's decision-making if it sounds that way. Just want to know all your thoughts about this.
  2. There's a new post by the LEGO Bionicle Facebook. Confirms NYCC will definitely have a Bionicle information dump. And we'll get a bit more information this Friday.
  3. "Made from raw magic and solid gold..." My thoughts on the magic part is that it's just a word used to describe non-elemental power. I mean, the word magic hasn't been used to describe powers in BIONICLE before...has it? Or they could be taking the saga in more of a fantasy direction than before. Which could be pretty awesome.
  4. Looking at the times of the "4" and "2" days posts, I would expect them to post the reveal in about two and a half hours. That said, TLG has their own timeframe that we cannot guess at with authority. For now, we will watch and wait.
  5. This is really neat. The system section at the back clashes a wee bit with the rest of the model but that's not much of a problem. Really like the aesthetics, the angles of the model, and of course the steering. (Poor TLG will never hear the end of it from AFOLs!)
  6. Kopaka without question. I relate to him a lot personally as we're both incredibly introverted. Also love his element. Ice? So cool. Ice puns? Even cooler. Not to mention he defeated three Rahkshi single-handedly in the MoL movie. And held off all six Rahkshi in Bionicle Comic 14. Again, single-handedly. He's pretty chill. Will definitely be the first set I'll purchase from the new wave.
  7. $100? Wow. One of the only promotional releases I've been interested in, and I won't be able to get it.
  8. I very much understand where you're coming from with this. The one thing I don't like that the dad does is gluing his LEGO setup together. But other than that, the kid did seem rather out of line, especially since he had his own box of LEGO bricks to play with. That said, I don't think the message was "screw with your parents' stuff" or "having a professional collection is not okay." I assume it's more like "engage your creativity and don't limit yourself." It may not have been pulled off in the way we would have liked, but I get the idea that TLG respects professional LEGO collectors and isn't trying to use this movie to tell them they are wrong and to let their kids destroy their displays.
  9. I personally don't think it's a big problem. There aren't many of these posts to be begin with, and they're not too different from postings about new LEGO products. Some people here like BrickArms and BrickForge products as much as official LEGO products. Also, those posts tend to read "What do you think? Discuss here" instead of "Make sure you buy some!" Were it the other way around, there might be a problem, but that's not the case. Plus (I feel like Emmet giving a speech), those products are LEGO creations of a different sort. While not built out of LEGO pieces, they are specifically designed to be used by minifigures. So they're "fan creations" in a different way. Just my two cents.
  10. This is hugely impressive. The cool blue look combined with the well-designed functionality make this an awesome model. Good job!
  11. Really like this entry. Nice aesthetics, use of parts, and functionality! Good luck in the competition!
  12. This is fantastic. Very cute and small, but instantly represents a bulldozer and does it well. Awesome work! I can't stop looking at it!
  13. A man participating in holiday festivities realizes he is in danger from forces beyond his reckoning... This is my first attempt at a horror-type film. While I am pleased with the result, there are (as always) places for improvement. Comments, constructive criticism, and suggestions for the future are most welcome. Please enjoy Predation!
  14. As a brickfilmer with a bit of experience concerning copyright, here's what I advise: Your best shot may be to create parody logos. Viewers would still be able to tell what they are, but they would have a much lower chance of infringing copyright in that case. Use of the logo would be infringement, no doubt; the only question is whether or not the owners would flag your video for infringement. So you should probably play this one safe to avoid any potential conflicts. As for monetization of Batman videos, not only are most of them parodies of some sort, but they probably don't use the real logo. Considering there are so many variations of the official logo out there, parodies could easily use something close that doesn't quite infringe copyright. The use of official characters is another story, of course, but I won't get into that. One last thing: a surprisingly large (and growing) number of people actually do make a living off of YouTube advertising (as well as merchandise sales and other stuff related to their channel), not only because their videos get so many views, but because they put out so many videos in the first place. Of course, I don't think any brickfilmers have been able to do this. Not yet, anyway. Hope this helps!
  15. Very detailed and accurate-looking! Love the floor surrounding the freezing chamber. Not to mention that you got the ceiling in there as well without full walls; that definitely makes the MOC feel more open and accessible to viewers.
  16. I'd love to see this pass review, as my collection of female figures is a bit lacking compared to male figures. It definitely has potential to pass review - a strong idea with no licensing issues.
  17. Very nice. Great attention to detail on this model, and it is quite smooth too. The only issue that caught my eye is the proportions of the vehicle. The wings seem too close together, and I think that's because they are too big to begin with. The easiest fix would probably be making the cockpit larger when you redesign it. Not that that's easy, but it sounds easier than redesigning those beautiful wings. Well done!
  18. Glad to see my favorite Toa redesigned. Your interpretation makes him a lot more menacing - and more like an actual warrior - than the official set. The only thing that bugs me is his chest plate. It looks too high up, as if it's needlessly covering up his neck. Other than that, though, well done.
  19. Very cool! There's nothing wrong with so much blue there - it all blends together so well. The designs are great; they look quite realistic. Well done!
  20. I generally buy sets these days because I need them for filmmaking. To that end, I only look for an aesthetically pleasing structure or vehicle. Play features don't bother me because they can usually be removed or modified if need be. Only rarely do I buy sets for parts, but it happens. As naf said, it's often much easier to Bricklink said parts.
  21. Those modifications really do make it better, nice.
  22. Absolutely suitable for an ogre. Both the use of SNOT on the side of the wall there and the non-aligned roof over the entrance really add to the piece. Well done!
  23. Very cool; they are quite articulated and detailed. The base is nice too, haha.
  24. I agree with MikroMan, the main section does need to look more saucer-like. Other than that, the rest of it seems pretty good. You might also want to consider using a wider color palette, although the monochrome aspect does not detract from the model. It adds to the style, actually...so never mind, monochrome is good.
  25. Just as cool as the roadrunner! The eyes are quite inventive, nice.
