  1. The problem is that people CAN order enough of these newer bright-green plates to fill large layouts...but that is a massive amount of money to drop. Almost $100 for just 12 is ridiculous. Especially since the clutch power of these plates is apparently variable and the bright-green color may stick out too much. Speaking of clutch power...has anyone had any issues with the new LBG 48x48 plates? It'd be good to add more to my collection, but I don't want to buy the new ones if they don't hold their bricks.
  2. Because it probably wasn't Lhikan's Hau when they wrote that scene.
  3. You really have those problems with trans-light blue? I find that it is a fascinating color and have never seen it look weak or clear. Plus, I would be more likely to say that the PoW is the more "inaccurate" one with the trans-blue shells, since it also has trans-light blue bones. Wish we could have seen PoW with Gali's dark azure, but oh well. I like that Lewa doesn't use so much silver: he has some armor but chooses to rely on his agility for better protection, and thus doesn't layer himself in it. Adds a lot to his character. I disagree that the Mask of Jungle looks nothing like the Miru; it is quite different but I see the resemblances clear as day. The out-of-box head articulation is admittedly pathetic though. You may have found him overall disappointing, but I find he's very much a new Lewa that I quite enjoy. About Onua, lots of people say he's too wide... But Bionicle characters aren't meant to have incredibly realistic proportions, yes? LEGO sets often exaggerate size one way or the other, so this doesn't bother me a bit. Pohatu's boomerangs are indeed unwieldy and far too large for him; completely replaced them in my modification of him for that reason. Kopaka only has his one silver torso piece...and you are 100% right that it is too much silver. (I'm not counting the staff since it's not part of him, only his weapon.)
  4. "Icy what you did there." -Kopaka
  5. I quite like it. The tall shoulders really make the height of the Skull Spider mask complement the build rather than stick out from it. Makes for a nice effect. Colors work well too, in my opinion. The only issue I have is the placement of the upper chest armor compared to the torso armor, but considering the height you wanted for the build, you probably didn't have many options there. Well done!
  6. I dunno, I feel like he's gonna get smashed pretty significantly once Ekimu gets the MoCr. So probably not recurring. But significant? Hopefully. The fact that Ekimu is called "Mask Maker" in his set means that "Skull Grinder" could be a title for a more fleshed-out villain. *Crosses fingers*
  7. You need to know that I saw this picture and then read your signature under it as if it were Lewa who said those words. I mean, considering his facial expression... EDIT: Got the Hero Pack today. It's also very shiny.
  8. Very likely. Prototype parts could come a looooong time after initial concepts.
  9. Speculating here: I think TLG wants to keep the story in the online animations/books. They likely don't want several different mediums of storytelling like we've had for Gen 1. While I agree that comic books would be cool, we're unlikely to see them again.
  10. That was Gen 1. All cards are yet on the table for Gen 2. While there are technically six villains this year, one or two of them don't seem to correspond to a specific element (LoSS and possibly Skull Grinder). Plus LoSS was in a different wave than the other five, which is already new. TLG may choose to not follow the Gen 1 pattern, which is fine.
  11. Speaking of Hero Packs, I just ordered one today. Not sure if it'll take as long to get here as it did for some of you, but I'll be patient. I didn't see anything on LEGO S&H promoting the Hero Pack, interestingly enough...
  12. Dume is a cool build himself, but boy does Nivawk take the cake here. I find him a bit too bulky around the chest, but that's hard to complain about because of the fantastic build. Nice work!
  13. Awwww whut. That is way cool. Love the color layout and the design even more. The use of swords for the wings in particular looks great.
  14. Unfortunately for you, those two things tend to be absent in children's games. Considering the quality of Bionicle games we got in Gen 1, I don't have high hopes for any good ones now.
  15. Perhaps the box is more than just a box, eh? Kanohi were more than meets the eye, why not the box? #ToaBoxia2016Confirmed
  16. The Skull villains seem to have been more "casually" buried, based on what we saw in Episode 9. Ekimu was placed in a relatively special sarcophagus. I doubt biomechanical beings mummify each other, but it's clear that Ekimu's body was taken care of better than the Skull villains'.
  17. The LEGO employee packet leaked some months back says it still stands for "Biological Chronicle." However, I doubt they're going to pull another Great Spirit Robot. Perhaps it is an indication that the Gen 2 characters are not purely robotic but once again biomechanical, as we have speculated. That said...they're mostly using the name "Bionicle" for name recognition. Cue lack of surprise.
  18. The hate for these in other places is real. Not "real LEGO?" Goodness. I think Luke's robotic look doesn't come as much from the style of the pieces and build (although that doesn't help) but more from the CCBS precedent. While Chima and Super Heroes were built with this system, we remember it mostly for Hero Factory (and now Bionicle), which were much more mechanical than human Luke. So the head admittedly looks a bit strange there. Not that TLG did a bad job; I'm impressed Luke looks as human as he does. That said, I agree with most that the mechanical and armoured characters will look the best in this system.
  19. I imagine it will look better once it has been printed with Vader's suit controls.
  20. I rather like Darth Vader, not so much Luke. This is about what I expected. Not a fan of the new lightsabers, but they've got to be more sturdy than those the General Grievous statue had.
  21. That particular pairing would be...slightly non-canon. I doubt they're two-packs. Considering the singular figures are $20, I don't see how a $35 set (where did this price come from btw?) could have two figures, unless one is really small. Thus I think a $35 General Grievous figure isn't out of the question.
  22. Each set is $19.99 or more? Either those are some hefty action figures, or I can smell the licensing.
  23. I guess I meant planned, sorry. I think we heard that around or during NYCC, but I don't know for sure. Just something that stuck out to me during that time.
  24. Mata Nui has answered our wishes Bionicle has been given a minimum three-year run. So we'll have at least five or six waves, not just three. If the sets sell well enough, TLG may extend the line and perhaps increase the budget. Besides, let's not forget that that this first wave brought 16(ish) new molds on its own along with tons of recolours. Small budget as it may be, it's still adding a lot of pieces.
  25. It would seem that gaining the gold masks fully unlocked their powers; powers that they already had access to, but only weak access. That's likely how Pohatu made his sandstorm. Also, idk if the character bios are regarded as canon or not (since LoSS shows up in all of them but doesn't in the animations), but Lewa is definitely flying in his bio before retrieving his gold mask.
